Love Comes To Me
Chapter 265: City S

City

S.

The taxi pulled up under an apartment building and Eloise Thompson opened the door and got out, looking up at the red-walled building in front of her. This is where she will live from now on.

"Do you need help carrying your luggage up, girl?" The enthusiastic driver asked.

Eloise Thompson turned back and smiled slightly, "Thanks, no, I'll just do it myself."

The move was a bit rushed and she only took clothes and some household items and books, not much, just two suitcases that she could carry upstairs by herself. After paying the driver for the car and saying thank you, Eloise Thompson walked into the flat with two suitcases in tow.

The caretaker of the flat led her to the door of the flat where she would later live and gave her the key, "It's all been cleaned, it's very clean, you can move in straight away." "Thanks."

Eloise Thompson knew it was all Egbert Chumley's doing in advance, and she was truly grateful for Egbert Chumley's intentions, but didn't know how to repay him.

The flat is small, two rooms and one bathroom, but it is quite cosy.

It was indeed clean, not a speck of dust, and had every kind of furniture and kitchen utensil except for food.

She just needs to sort out the luggage she brought with her.

The books were arranged neatly one by one on the bookcase, and just as they were set up, the phone rang.

It was Egbert Chumley who helped her prepare a separate phone.

"I don't know what happened with you and Hector Rogers, but I don't feel comfortable with you going to City S alone, take this phone, the number is new to me, don't worry, I'm the only one who knows." Egbert Chumley was just so attentive and thought of everything for her.

She walked over and picked the phone up, "Alumni."

"Are we there yet?" Egbert Chumley's gentle voice rang in his ears.

Eloise Thompson inexplicably wanted to cry a little as she walked out onto the balcony and took a deep breath to make her voice as easy as possible, "Here we are. alumni, thank you, the flat I love it." "As you like it."

Both men were silent.

It was a long time before Egbert Chumley's voice came again, "Eloise, I've arranged for your mother to be admitted to the hospital, so you can go there yourself and see the surroundings, and if that doesn't work, I'll replace another hospital." Eloise Thompson smiled, "Alumni, how could it not work if you arranged it."

At these words, a hearty laugh came from Egbert Chumley on the other side of the phone, "I'm glad you trust me so much."

Eloise Thompson smiled and didn't say anything.

"I'll send you the address of the hospital on your phone, go over there and see if there's anything you need you can talk to me about."

"Alumni, thank you."

He had really helped her a lot this time, and she didn't know what to say or how to repay him other than thank you.

"Eloise, you're my friend, it's only right that I help you, no need to keep hanging on to thank you in future."

Eloise Thompson gave a soft "hmm".

"You get busy then, I'll send the address later."

"Good."

Hanging up the phone, not long after, Egbert Chumley sent the address.

Eloise Thompson clicked on it and looked at it, then turned and grabbed her bag and walked out of the room.

Her mother's illness had barely improved, and she had to ask her mother's new primary care physician herself if this tossing and turning would have any effect.

The hospital arranged by Egbert Chumley is a private hospital in a very nice and secluded environment, perfect for patients to recuperate.

The most important thing is that the medical staff are very friendly.

"I understand all about your mother's condition, so don't worry, the hospital and I will do our best to treat your mother's illness."

The attending physician was a very kind, middle-aged man.

"Thank you doctor." Eloise Thompson was grateful.

The doctor smiled gently, "It's my job, no thanks."

"I'll take you to see your mother."

Maryam Khan was placed in the VIP ward and although Eloise Thompson had small savings, now that she was new to a strange place, without a job and without income for the time being, she was afraid that the cost would be too high and she would not be able to afford it.

When she spoke to the doctor about her concerns, she asked him to help change to a normal ward.

Instead the doctor said, "Don't worry about the cost, Mr Egbert said it would be charged as a normal ward."

"Mr Egbert?"

The name that came out of the doctor's mouth made Eloise Thompson stifle a frown.

"Mr Egbert said that you were his friend and asked us to look after your mother more."

Perhaps seeing that she still looked puzzled, the doctor continued, "This private hospital, in which the Chumley family has a stake."

The implication is that this hospital Chumley family can speak for itself.

"So that's it."

Learning the real story, Eloise Thompson felt she owed Egbert Chumley even more.

I really don't know how I am able to get such heartfelt help from him.

As if thinking of something, the doctor said, "By the way, our hospital is very secretive and you can trust us with your mother." Eloise Thompson nodded, "Thank you doctor."

The doctor gave a brief description of the hospital and then left.

Eloise Thompson walked over to the bed and looked at her mother lying in it, a hint of guilt crossing her small, clear face.

"Mom." She took her mother's hand, bit her lip, held back her tears, and said in a choked voice, "I'm sorry for making you toss and turn with me." The mother is still asleep and motionless.

Eloise Thompson sniffled, her gaze falling firmly on her mother's somewhat pale face, "Mum, don't worry, everything will be fine and you'll wake up." She is convinced.

Eloise Thompson stayed in hospital until late afternoon before returning home.

On the way back, the street lights were on and Eloise Thompson looked out of the car window at the flickering street scene and was in a slightly downbeat mood. City J should be very busy at this time of year.

When she returned to the flat, her heart seized hard as she opened the door and stood frozen in the cold, empty void.

For a moment, she was suddenly afraid to walk in.

It wasn't until the sound of the door locking outside that she looked back and lifted her feet to walk inside.

"Snap!"

She switched the lights on and the room was suddenly illuminated, but still cold and quiet.

Kicking the shoes off his feet, he walked barefoot to the living room and sat down.

Looking around, she couldn't help but smile.

You used to live alone, when did you become so pretentious?

Is it because you're used to the company of Solomon and Hector Rogers?

People have really terrible habits.

She didn't want to fool herself, she really missed Solomon and Hector Rogers.

Her nose couldn't help but feel sour, and she bit her lip as tears instantly came to her eyes.

At City S, everything has settled down, but she is really confused about what to do from here.

In this strange city, she only felt more uncomfortable.

She wondered if Hector Rogers would seek herself out.

Maybe it will.

He was probably blaming her now for her deception, and for leaving without saying goodbye.

In fact, she didn't want to do it, but she was really afraid, afraid of going to face him, afraid that he would not want her if he knew the truth. Rather than let him speak, she chose to leave on her own.

It's good for each other.
