Love Comes To Me
Chapter 270: How She's So Stupid

"Brother, I know what was going on back then."

As soon as Rupert Rogers met Hector Rogers, he was anxious to say.

He then told Hector Rogers all the truth he had learned from Josh Thompson.

Hector Rogers was so shaken by what he heard that he couldn't even stop his fingertips from trembling.

He already didn't mind Eloise Thompson's past, and now that he knows the truth, his heart goes out to Eloise Thompson even more.

"Why is she so stupid?" Hector Rogers closed his eyes and a bitter smile spread across the corners of his mouth.

The lungs seem to have been lanced with something and when I breathe, it hurts a little.

Because of this incident, she had low self-esteem and she felt that she was not good enough for him anymore, so she chose to leave.

But she was a victim too, wasn't she?

Hector Rogers regrets it.

Regretting why I didn't investigate the matter and thought I respected her, only to leave her to bear the burden and face it alone when it came to light. He's such an asshole!

Rupert Rogers also felt badly when he saw the remorse on his face.

"Brother, don't blame yourself either, none of us thought the truth would be like this."

Speaking of which, Rupert Rogers grunted coldly and scolded with righteous indignation, "It's all the Thompson family's fault, that old fox Josh Thompson, if he was willing to take money to his sister-in-law back then, would she have been pushed to that extent?"

"They say tigers don't eat their children, I think Josh Thompson is worse than an animal!"

If Josh Thompson wasn't here right now, he'd want to punch him twice more.

Hector Rogers opened his eyes and asked, "Does Josh Thompson know the whereabouts of Eloise?"

"I don't know."

Rupert Rogers sighed, "With her sister-in-law's personality, how could she have enlisted the help of the Thompson family? It must not have been easy to help my sister-in-law move her mother away so quickly either ..."

Suddenly, a figure flashed through his mind and Rupert Rogers' eyes lit up and he said in a slightly excited tone, "Brother, I know who it is." "Who?"

"Egbert Chumley."

Rupert Rogers said, "We've been trying to replace out what happened to my sister-in-law, but we can't. There is no way that our Rogers family can't even replace her, unless someone is involved, and that someone must be powerful." "Brother, think about it, who among the people your sister-in-law knows has this power."

Hector Rogers narrowed his eyes, "Egbert Chumley."

From what he knew of Eloise, she knew few people, and of those few, only Egbert Chumley was capable of doing so.

The two men came to an agreement and Rupert Rogers was thrilled, "Great, finally a breakthrough."

"Don't worry, brother, soon I'll replace my sister-in-law." Rupert Rogers reassured his brother.

For the first time in days, Hector Rogers was in a calmer mood and in a rare mood to tease his brother, "Every time you say it's quick, has it ever been done." Rupert Rogers smiled shyly, "It's true this time, brother, you must believe me."

Hector Rogers raised an eyebrow, "Then get on it."

"As ordered!"

Watching Rupert Rogers hurry away, Hector Rogers turned his head to look out of the window, his gaze sunken, wondering what he was thinking.

...

With a breakthrough, Rupert Rogers was able to check it out.

He soon found out that Egbert Chumley had been present in a bar on the night Eloise Thompson disappeared.

But when he rushed to the bar to check the surveillance, he found that the surveillance video from that night was missing.

This made him even more certain that Egbert Chumley had something to do with his sister-in-law's disappearance.

He rushed to tell Hector Rogers the news.

"Brother, do you want me to go straight to Egbert Chumley and ask for clarification."

Hector Rogers kept his head down and didn't say a word, wondering what he was thinking.

Rupert Rogers was a bit anxious, "Brother, now that we know Egbert Chumley has something to do with his sister-in-law's disappearance, I'm going to ask for clarification, I just don't believe he won't be honest about it." Having said that, he turned and was about to go to Egbert Chumley.

"Stand still!" Rupert Rogers shouted out to stop him.

Rupert Rogers had to meekly stop his feet.

"Don't go to Egbert Chumley yet."

Hearing Hector Rogers say that, Rupert Rogers didn't understand, "Why? Why don't you go to him? And aren't you desperate to replace your sister-in-law?"

"Don't spook the snake yet, lest your sister-in-law hide somewhere else."

He was afraid that if she knew he was looking for her, she would hide further away so he couldn't replace her.

"Brother, are you sure you want to do this?"

These days, he has been living like a human being and a ghost, and now that his sister-in-law is about to be found, he has backed off instead, which is really puzzling.

Hector Rogers patted him on the shoulder, a smile seemingly tugging at the corners of his lips, "You'll get it later."

Will you get it later?

Rupert Rogers bristled, never mind, it was better for him not to understand something so painful.

"So brother, what are we going to do now?" Rupert Rogers asked.

"You keep an eye on Egbert Chumley's every move and let me know if anything happens."

Rupert Rogers nodded, "Okay."

...

Rupert Rogers sent a twenty-four hour watch on Egbert Chumley to see if he would go after Eloise Thompson.

But strangely enough, Egbert Chumley has not been going out lately, and has been staying in the city at two points a day at work and at home.

"Brother, Egbert Chumley wouldn't be aware of something, would he?"

After observing Egbert Chumley's journey for almost a week, Rupert Rogers could not resist questioning his brother.

Hector Rogers also found it strange, "Maybe. But there's another possibility too."

"What?" Rupert Rogers asked.

"That means your sister-in-law is still at City J."

"No way?" Rupert Rogers didn't think it was possible, "I had City J searched for my sister-in-law the days she first disappeared and I didn't even replace a hair of her head." Hector Rogers sneered, "Didn't you also say that Egbert Chumley was capable? Then it should be easy for him to hide someone at City J."

At that, Rupert Rogers couldn't help but blurt out, "Shit! That can't be right."

He still doesn't really believe it.

"The most dangerous place is the safest place." Rupert Rogers turned his head to look out the floor-to-ceiling windows, with half of City J in full view.

City J is not too big, not too small, and with the power of the Rogers family it's a simple matter to replace someone.

He turned to Rupert Rogers and said, "Look for it! Look in City J! Don't leave any place untouched!"

Rupert Rogers nodded, "Understood."

Then he thought of something and asked, "Brother, how can we replace out about the Chumley family? We can't go to people's homes with a lot of fanfare and look for them." This would have really spooked the grass.

"Get a reliable person to blend in and have him covertly look for it at the Chumley family."

Rupert Rogers slapped his head, "Yeah, why didn't I think of that. You're still the smart one, brother."

He flashed a toothy grin at Hector Rogers.

"Stop being poor and go and arrange it." Hector Rogers said in a cold voice.

"I'm on my way."

Rupert Rogers arranged for someone to infiltrate the Chumley family as Hector Rogers had wanted, and also had someone search in City J.

Little did they know that while they were staring at Egbert Chumley, Egbert Chumley was also staring at them.

When he was told that Hector Rogers had someone looking in City J, he couldn't help but frown; this Hector Rogers couldn't have thought that Eloise was still in City J, could he?
