Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 368: How can I be worthy of him?
Rupert kept on talking without noticing the difference in Marian's mood.
Only to see the depths of her eyes, swept a touch of gloom, how could a woman like that... be worthy of him?
In Marian's eyes, Eloise was just a half-way house who had used every means to get to Hector, while Hector was a light in her heart.
It was only then that he noticed something was wrong and said, "Marian, are you listening?"
At this moment, Marian's mind had already drifted to the memories of her and Hector, so of course she didn't hear Rupert's voice.
When Rupert saw how lost in thought Marian was, he couldn't help himself and raised his voice to shout, "Marian!"
Marian snapped back to her senses and looked at Rupert with a strange and slightly irritated look on her face and said apologetically, "Nothing, sorry I was just thinking about something else."
With those words, she looked ahead again, as if she had been lost in thought.
Pretty girl apologies worked best with Rupert, and with Marian saying that, he felt it was no problem at all.
As Marian concentrated on driving, he suddenly noticed a car in his rear view mirror that looked familiar and seemed to be following them.
It might be a coincidence if it only appeared for a while, but something was wrong if it kept appearing.
Marian stared in the rear view mirror for a minute or so, confirming that they were being followed, before turning to Rupert and saying, "Mr Rupert, that car behind us seems to be following us all the way around two intersections already, and it hasn't even changed the road."
Rupert's face changed slightly, he was only coming to the hospital and someone was following him.
He paused for a moment and turned to Marian, "Are you sure you can get rid of them?"
It wasn't a big problem for Marian, so she nodded and said, "Then Mr Rupert, be careful."
Having just had his cast removed, he didn't have much strength left in his legs, which was why Marian had told him to get ready.
Rupert sat up immediately and looked around him warily.
Once he was seated, Marian started to press the accelerator, intending to lose the car.
The man in the car also sensed their movements and stepped on the accelerator, and the two cars began to chase each other back and forth.
Rupert looked in the rear view mirror next to him and realising that he could not guess the identity of the other man, had to say, "Do you know who these people are?"
Marian's face sank slightly, a hint of foreboding creeping up on her, and she whispered, "Could they be from abroad?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, the mobile phone beside her rang and the call was opened by Hall, who was abroad.
Marian sneered, sure enough, it was really those guys, the ghosts.
When the call was answered, before Marian had time to say anything, she heard Hall on the other end of the line say, "Marian, are you okay?"
Marian gave a faint "mmm" to indicate that she was fine.
Hall seemed relieved before continuing, "We just found out that a group has followed you over here, so you have to be careful."
"Got it." Marian said, and hung up the phone.
So it seemed that there were not just one or two people following them, but an organised group of people, they had really underestimated them. Marian's face changed slightly as he stepped on the accelerator once more and started racing.
Rupert was afraid that something else would go wrong and said, "Drive towards a less crowded area, don't cause a stir in the city."
Marian understood what he meant, if he was stopped by the traffic police for speeding and if they met directly, the scene would be uncontrollable. Marian knew the area better than they did, so after hearing Rupert's words, he turned the car around and drove off towards a less crowded area. When Rupert saw that he had lost them, he said, "I'll call my brother first and see what he thinks."
At the moment, Hector was resting at home, he had just had a shower and was now drying his hair.
Eloise, a bit overwhelmed, came over with a dry towel and gently wiped his hair, drying it half-dry and then blowing it out with a hairdryer.
Hector looked at her tenderly for a long time before saying, "Eloise, it's good to have you."
At this Eloise said, "You're just like Solomon, you don't know how to dry your hair after a shower, what if you catch a cold."
Hector raised an eyebrow in disbelief, "You're here, aren't you? If you're going to come over and dry my hair every day when you see I haven't, then I'll stop doing it myself." There was nothing Eloise could do about this hooliganism.
Solomon in the room was not happy to see the two men not coming in to tuck him in, "Mummy and Daddy, why don't you come and tuck me in?"
The two of them looked at each other and had no choice but to run over to coax the baby boy.
Eloise gently picked up the storybook and said, "What story does Solomon want to hear today?"
"I want to hear the story of Star Trek."
This was difficult for Eloise, she didn't know much about this kind of story, so she froze in her tracks for a moment.
Hector curled his lips, "Solomon, will daddy tell you?"
"Yes."
Who knew that just as Hector was about to tell it, the phone rang and when he glanced at it he found that it was Rupert calling, he also paled slightly.
Rupert had only gone to the hospital to have his cast removed, so it was reasonable to assume that there would be no major calls.
Because he was afraid that the two of them would be worried, Hector looked at Solomon and said, "Solomon, Daddy's going to answer the phone first." With that, he went out of the room to answer the phone. When he returned from the phone, he didn't look as relaxed as he did earlier, so Eloise noticed something was wrong and asked, "Hector, is something wrong?"
She had only just heard someone calling, but she didn't know who it was, so she didn't know anything about it at the moment.
Hector said, "It's nothing, it's just that something has happened at the office and I might have to go out now to take care of it."
He looked at Solomon apologetically, "Solomon, daddy's got a problem at work, so I won't be telling you a story today, so stay home with mummy, you hear?" Although Solomon was not happy about it, he nodded his head in a very obedient manner.
Eloise didn't think too much of it when she heard him say it was company business, after all, she was used to things happening at the company twice in three days.
