Love Comes To Me
Chapter 433: Treating them as if they were your own

"Okay."

Seeing Hector's mother spit, Rupert hastily slipped away on the bottom of his feet.

By the time all those people had been sent away, it was already early in the morning.

When he got home, Rupert took off his coat, rubbed his sore shoulders and tried to lie down in bed.

He couldn't understand why so many people had been invited over.

Maybe it really was a supposedly good intention.

"I asked you a question, why didn't you say something." Hector's mother looked at Rupert with a look of impatience, but he looked as if he was indifferent. "Rupert!" Hector's mother said angrily.

The cry brought Rupert back from his thoughts with an innocent look on his face.

"Mum, what's wrong with you?"

Hector's mother held back her anger and repeated what she had just said.

"I asked you if you had seen the right one?"

Rupert shook his head, "No."

Hector's mother heard another burst of anger and started chanting straight away.

"Your vision, don't be so high, you want Juliet in a book, a fairy in the sky, how is that possible.

If you think it's average, you can talk more, love at first sight doesn't work let's just make love over time."

Rupert also had a headache when she said this, "Mom, can you stop asking ..."

"That's not going to happen, you're a kid, it's like cutting you off to replace a girlfriend, if it doesn't work out, I'll pick one for you myself."

Hector's mother's tone was sulky, but serious.

Rupert had no choice but to tell the truth, "Don't worry about it, Mum, I've got someone I like."

When he said this, Hector's mother's eyes lit up and she immediately asked, "Who is it? How old is she? Do I recognise him?"

She threw up a series of questions out of the blue, leaving Rupert somewhat at a loss for words.

"Gee, you'll have to stop asking and I'll tell you when I catch up."

Eloise came over with a plate of fruit and watched the two women bicker, seeing some clues and not pointing them out.

Handing the fruit over she said, "Have some fruit, you've just had a drink, it's a good antidote to the wine."

Hector's mother took the fruit with a relieved look on her face and complimented him, "Eloise, you know what you're doing. Look at him, he's got a girl he likes, I just ask and he's impatient." At this, Eloise was a little embarrassed and said, "Mum, you should leave this to Rupert.

It has to be a consensual thing, and he won't be happy if he's forced to make it work."

Hector's mother felt that there was some truth in this.

But it was her own son, and she felt uncomfortable not being involved in the marriage at all.

"That's true, but I'd feel better knowing."

"But he's not too sure now, and he's only saying that because you're pushing him so hard, so there's no rush." Eloise said soothingly.

Rupert gave Eloise a grateful look and nodded his head, agreeing, "My sister-in-law is right."

At his nod, Hector's mother hurriedly said, "You looked wilted just then, and now you're in good spirits again when your sister-in-law speaks for you." Not wanting to be caught out again, Rupert immediately threw out another topic.

"Mum, you really don't need to rush, look at you now you've got Solomon the grandson to hold, you can't hold one, what do you need so many more for." Hector's mother was putting a piece of watermelon in her mouth and almost choked when she heard him say that, but steadied herself and swallowed. "What are you talking about? Look around you at all those aunts and uncles who don't mind having more children and grandchildren.

You can't replace yourself a girlfriend and you're blaming me for it." Hector's mother was a little angry.

Rupert had gotten himself into trouble this time.

But since his own mother had said so, he said, "You know I don't have a girlfriend, but I can't be blamed for this, can I?"

Hector's mother spat, "If you don't blame yourself, do you blame me and your father for making you ugly? Or is it your brother's fault for making all the money?"

Neither of these seemed to be to blame, so Rupert turned the conversation around again.

"If you like children and don't like them enough, then tell my brother and sister-in-law to make an effort and stop staring at me all day long and consider my feelings as a disabled person." He also made a point of nudging his mouth to show that he was still injured.

Hector's mother was too embarrassed to blame him for his appearance.

She said, "I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't for your behaviour."

Rupert said, "I'd rather you didn't bother with me.

But then again, he reminded Hector's mother of that.

When he had finished, Rupert turned to Eloise, took her hand and said, "Eloise, Rupert is right.

It would be wonderful if you could have another one."

When she heard Hector's mother really talking about herself, Eloise was a bit embarrassed and looked at Rupert to see him smiling with a smug smile on his face.

Eloise gave him a stern look before she looked a little scornfully at Hector's mother and said softly, "Mum ..."

Hector's mother knew she was embarrassed and said, "What's wrong with that? You're still young, so you should have children now. I already have a grandchild, and I want a lovely granddaughter to hold." Rupert interjected, "Mum, it's not up to my brother and sister-in-law to decide whether to have a child or a daughter.

Before he could finish his sentence, Hector's mother gave him a blank look.

"Go go go, you grab your girlfriend, it's none of your business."

Rupert was smart enough to stop talking.

Hector's mother finished her dislike of Rupert and then returned her attention to Eloise.

The look in Hector's mother's eyes made Eloise feel a bit confused, so she said, "Mum, there's no rush, and I want to talk to Solomon first. If he wants it, then we'll have it, but if not, then we won't. It's enough to have one child." After a moment's thought, she continued, "Besides, with many second children these days, there are always conflicts between the two children in the family, so it's better not to have them at all."

Eloise had heard a lot about this, and she was not sure about it.

After all, Solomon had just recovered from autism, and she didn't want to make any more problems.

Although she still wanted a daughter, she was still concerned about it.

Hector's mother was stunned and then touched.

She had never imagined that Eloise would consider Solomon's feelings, and this showed that Eloise truly cared for him as if he were her own. How many stepmothers could do that nowadays?
