Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 444: Nothing to do with her
Hector, who on the surface appears to be a single person for life, is a true master at flirting with girls, and Rupert is a worthy successor. When all was said and done, Rupert went straight to the door of Hector's room.
Before knocking on the door, however, Rupert paused.
Wouldn't it be disgraceful for him to just go up and ask?
And not to mention what his brother would do, his sister-in-law would surely laugh at him.
Forget it, it's better to give up on this path.
He didn't want to be looked down upon, so he walked back to his room in a huff.
For days on end Rupert stayed cooped up in his room, only meeting Mrs Matriarch and the others at dinner.
This made Mrs Matriarch feel something was wrong, how could she be a different person for no good reason?
With Rupert's nature, he would have been out in the wild long before he would have stayed at home.
Mrs Matriarch peeked upstairs to replace out what was going on.
The encounter is a little awkward as Rupert comes out of his room.
Mrs Matriarch turned around in a hurry and explained, "I just came to see if you were awake so the kitchen could prepare dinner."
Rupert didn't suspect anything and said as he descended the stairs, "Mum, I won't be eating at home today, my friend is meeting me out and will be back later in the evening." After saying this, he left in a hurry.
Mrs Matriarch shouted from behind, "No drinking, you've still got a wound on your leg and if you come back with too much to drink, I'll see if I kill you."
But the sound of the door slamming was her answer, and Mrs Matriarch went off to do her own thing with a grimace.
Walking to the front yard, Rupert saw Eloise watering the flowers and couldn't resist approaching her.
He came bitchily to Eloise and inquired, "Can I ask you a question, sister-in-law? Do you know what like and love are?"
Eloise glanced at Rupert and asked nosily, "Why do you remember to ask that? The love interest in our family?"
At Eloise's slightly flirtatious words, Rupert scratched his head in embarrassment.
"Sister-in-law, don't be sarcastic, I'm not an expert in love, I'm a bad hand, I'm just asking for one of my brothers, he's chasing a girl right now."
Rupert's gaze was a little averted and Eloise knew he was lying, but didn't point it out.
Putting down the spray can in her hand, Eloise and Rupert sat down on the bench next to her.
Eloise looked up at the sky and said with a smile, "To borrow a phrase from the internet, like is wanton, love is restraint. If you genuinely like someone, you want her to be well and happy, not trying to get her by all means."
After a pause, Eloise continued, "In other words, to like is to have a heartbeat, to want to see her when you can't, to have your heart beat faster at the thought of that person, and everything to do with him is sweet. As for love, it's wanting to spend the rest of your life with him and not wanting to be apart for a single second."
Watching Eloise's face beaming with happiness, Rupert was envious.
But it was the words that came out of Eloise's mouth that he didn't think through.
I've been puzzling over it for a long time, but I can't figure it out.
He had always thought that like and love were equal feelings and that there was no difference.
"And what does it really feel like to like someone?" Rupert then asked.
Eloise pondered for a moment before looking up and saying, "To like someone is to be lost when you can't see them, to look up subconsciously when you hear their name, to be overwhelmed when you don't hear from them, to not want them to talk to another person of the opposite sex, to be what is called jealous."
After hearing her words, Rupert was silent, his head bowed in thought.
According to Eloise, it seems that he can't talk about his liking for Aisly either.
It was just a different feeling, and the impulse to say the call for a relationship that day was only because of that scenario.
Does seeing Aisly make your heart flutter? It doesn't seem to feel that way.
Don't see her losing it? Not really.
Can't help but look up at the sound of her name?
This Rupert did, but it doesn't prove that he liked her, does it?
With that, Rupert stretched as if relieved.
The questions that have been bothering him all these days have been answered.
Eloise took Rupert's reaction in her stride and didn't press the issue any further.
This is, after all, a matter of their relationship, and even if a bystander can see it clearly, it still needs to be faced by those in authority. Rupert may look cynical, but it is his way of protecting himself.
He has little experience in relationships, so this is a time when he has to feel and sort things out for himself.
The two sat quietly on the bench, neither speaking.
Half an hour later, Rupert got up and thanked Eloise, "Sister-in-law, I probably get it better, thank you."
Eloise smiled and said, "We're all family, so what's the point of saying thank you, just go after the girl you like and don't regret it later." "I know, sister-in-law."
Rupert nods and leaves.
Preparing to drive to an appointment with a friend, he instead ghosted to Aisly's hospital.
When I got off the bus, I bought a mask to put on my face to prevent people from recognising me.
It's also to avoid embarrassment for both of them if Aisly sees it.
Sneaking into the duty room, he peered inside and did not replace Aisly.
Rupert's heart couldn't help but feel a little lost.
Turning to leave, he heard the sound of Aisly speaking and Rupert hastily ducked to one side.
Aisly is laughing and talking playfully with a colleague and there is nothing out of the ordinary about it.
Seeing nothing unusual about her, Rupert left quietly.
After he had left, Aisly looked over the side and just now she seemed to catch sight of Rupert and couldn't help but pause in her tracks. "Aisly, hurry up and go, it's time for the head nurse to talk again when you're late."
Seeing Aisly standing still, the colleague tugged on Aisly.
"Oh, good."
With that said, Aisly glanced over there again and there was no longer a figure, she probably misread it earlier.
How it felt like Rupert was always flashing before her eyes these days, Aisly couldn't help but shake her head. Now she works hard to earn money is the right thing to do and give her mother a good life.
What affection or lack of it had nothing halfway to do with her.
Clearing the distractions away, Aisly went to work.
When Rupert got out of the hospital, he was not in the mood to go out and play, so he went to the river.
The breeze brushed Rupert's cheeks and he enjoyed the sensation.
Finding an empty space to sit down, Rupert began to empty himself and think of nothing else.
It was late in the evening before Rupert returned from here.
