Love Comes To Me
Chapter 489: That's her father!

"Really? You guys aren't lying to me?"

Eloise's heart dropped the moment she heard the baby was okay.

By now her eyes were red and her palms were covered in sweat from fear.

Great! The baby is fine.

Otherwise she really didn't know what to do.

"It's true, why would I lie to you? Ask Aisly later if you don't believe me, just take care of yourself now.

The doctors have said it's nothing serious, don't worry."

At that, Eloise nodded.

Wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes, she looked down at the small of her back.

It was only after confirming that the baby was really all right that he managed a slightly pale smile.

Mrs Matriarch poured Eloise a glass of warm water.

Only after she had eased up did she tentatively ask Eloise.

"By the way, Eloise, those supplements you and Hector brought back the other day, you said they were from your father, are you sure?"

Her tone sounded tight and deliberate in a way that made Eloise's fingertips give a twitch as she held her cup.

Looking at Mrs Matriarch in confusion and some disbelief.

Still, he nodded meekly and whispered.

"Yes, he gave it to me with his own hands."

Even though Mrs Matriarch had been prepared for this, it was still a shock to see Eloise nod.

In her perception, a tiger's poison does not yet eat its son.

There is absolutely no way to imagine just how much a father must loathe his daughter to do this to her.

Rupert watched on, taking in his mother's fluctuating emotions.

A quick guess formed in his mind in conjunction with the thoughts he had given himself earlier.

"What's the matter, Ma, when there's really something wrong with those bird's nests?" He asked with cold eyes.

A single word caught the attention of the crowd, who all looked towards Mrs Matriarch in unison.

"Hmm."

Mrs Matriarch's eyes were downcast and her tone was subdued.

Eloise looked at the stony looks on the faces of the crowd and spoke up in confusion.

"What happened to the bird's nest?"

Seeing this Mrs Matriarch held her hand tightly and sighed, "Eloise, the abortifacients you took by mistake this time came from those supplements your father gave you." She gave a brief account of what had happened.

"Clang--"

Eloise's hand shook as she put the glass down and it tipped steeply sideways.

It almost rolled to the ground and Mrs Matriarch was quick to right it.

Water trails down the edge of the table, reflecting Eloise's blanched face.

Her lips were trembling and her thumb was pinching her index finger hard.

Perceiving reality with pain, Eloise mumbled her lips, "How could this happen... how could he do it ..."

Eloise never expected this outcome.

Josh actually put abortifacients in her!

That's her father!

She had thought Josh was truly repentant ...

Tears streamed down her cheeks and dripped onto the quilt, creating a watery stain.

Eloise was lost in thought, staring at the white sheets, as if a knife had been stabbed hard into her heart.

Mrs Matriarch looked at her and hugged Eloise with great distress.

"Eloise, don't be like that, we're here now, no one will bully you anymore with Mum around."

Patting Eloise gently on the back, the grief was hard to quell even for a while.

"OK, OK, let's not overthink it ..."

Looking at the devastated Eloise, the atmosphere in the ward instantly froze.

Fortunately, the doctor Aisly brought over broke the gloomy atmosphere.

Eloise had to be examined and several members of the Rogers family withdrew from the ward for the time being.

Mrs Matriarch wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes, looked at Rupert and asked, "Rupert, has your brother been informed of this?"

At that, Rupert shook his head.

"It's so serious, how dare I let him know, with my brother's temper he'd kill Josh."

Mrs Matriarch looked into the ward, where Eloise was a puppet without a soul.

Stiffly, he cooperated with the doctor's examination, and by the look of him, he knew he hadn't slowed down yet.

"Say, get him back early, Eloise doesn't look, well, in very good shape."

At times like this, the one person who needs to be around the most is the husband.

As a woman, Mrs Matriarch naturally understands how Eloise feels at the moment.

Rupert nodded and pulled out his phone and walked to the end of the corridor.

The phone rang for a long time before the other end picked up.

"Brother."

Rupert called out in a low, heavy voice.

Abroad, Hector has just finished some business at hand and is ready to go back to bed.

The night is thick and the city's twinkling neon lights are much dimmer.

People also went to bed and it seemed quiet.

He pressed his temples, the exhaustion lingering in his brow.

"Rupert, next time you call remember to look at the time difference." There was a hint of reproach in his tone.

"Brother, something's happened to my sister-in-law." Rupert said dourly.

When he heard it was about Eloise, Hector's pace hit hard, his face changed abruptly and his tone couldn't help but be harsh. "What happened to Eloise, speak clearly!"

"Take it easy for now, listen to me, sister-in-law she's fine now."

Rupert speaks of the outcome first, lest his brother go mad uncontrollably.

Then he told Hector the whole story.

At the words, Hector's face darkened and his palms clenched uncomfortably, strangling blue veins on his arms.

Abortifacients, who has the nerve!

Hearing no sound on the other end of the line, Rupert hastened to reassure, "Brother, don't think too badly of things yet. Sister-in-law is just in shock and in a bit of a bad mood, and Mum means for you to come back early afterwards to take a look."

"I'll be right back!"

Without hesitation, Hector spoke in a cold voice and hung up the phone.

Booked straight onto the earliest flight back home and hurried to the airport.

Hector flew back through the night without rest.

The next day, when I got off the plane, I didn't delay for a moment and rushed to the hospital.

The thought of Eloise's delicate frame, under so much pressure, made Hector want to kill.

Rupert knew he was coming back and waited early in front of the hospital.

Seeing Hector's heavy face, Rupert simply told him about the events of the past two days.

Hector's face turned very ugly when he heard that it was those supplements Josh had given him that had gone wrong.

"Here we are, my sister-in-law is inside, go in and comfort her."

Standing at the entrance to the ward, Rupert pats Hector on the shoulder, knowingly leaving the two men alone. Hector took a deep breath, hid the hostility in his eyes and pushed the door open.

"Mum, didn't I tell you to go back and rest first, I didn't..."

Eloise heard a noise and thought it was Mrs Matriarch who was unsure of her and turned back.

The sentence that was choking on nothing in his throat snapped hard as he raised his eyes to see who was coming.

Her eyes overflowed with tears and she looked at Hector in disbelief.

Somewhat confused between reality and illusion, her voice choked out, "Hector? Is that you back..."
