Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 541: My Light Is Not There
A light shone ahead, wavering in the darkness like a last hope.
The salvage work did not stop there.
No one dares to stop until Hector gives the word.
The boat shook, but not Hector, whose face was ashen.
For a whole day he stood there without eating or drinking, staring silently out to sea.
Rupert was very distressed to see him like this.
Pulling down his coat, he said soothingly, "Brother, you've been standing all day, take a break, at least take a drink of water, your body will not be able to bear it." Wordlessly replying, Rupert remained standing there, his eyes straight ahead.
Numerous times Rupert thought he would jump to his death, but he stood there, hanging on for dear life.
He knew because he hadn't seen Eloise's body yet.
But by the end of the night, Rupert couldn't stand it any longer and made a glass of water and handed it over. Hector does not answer, as a dead body, without any half-hearted response, without even giving him a look. This half-dead look also really discouraged Rupert.
"You just don't rest, you have to give the guys a break, they've all been fishing all day and need to recharge." He sighed and looked behind him at the exhausted search and rescue brigade.
At that Hector's eyes lifted with a little reaction.
The body moves and walks forward.
"Rest and work in shifts tomorrow." He spoke in a muffled voice, his dark, heavy eyes without a glint in them. With those words, the big guy also sighed with relief and sat down on the ground to rest.
Hector didn't stop there though, he walked over and rolled up his own sleeves to take over the salvage job. Over and over again, I can't feel the pain even though my hands are red from the tugging ...
He has no right to make people work all the time, but he never misses a moment that might save Eloise.
What if, when their boat came to a halt, it brushed up against Eloise?
Even if it had been just a minute earlier, Eloise would have had a better chance of surviving.
Rupert saw this and let out a heavy sigh.
He didn't stop Hector, and he couldn't stop him from being so dishevelled and determined. The fishing brigade didn't stop for long due to Hector's infection and soon got to work ...
This sleepless and intense operation has attracted the attention of the outside media.
The salvage brigade went to sea in search of the man, an event that caused a dramatic sensation, a salvage of that magnitude, and was covered by many media outlets. But the Rogers family hid it so well that the media never had the chance to get close to the facts.
Finally one media outlet searched for clues and wrote a report that a pregnant woman had been kidnapped and thrown into the sea.
One body, two lives, and his family searching for the body in grief.
In a flash, it aroused the sympathy of the Kwong Tai crowd.
The community has taken to the internet to appeal for help in replaceing someone.
Some people even said that their families live near the sea and they plan to go out to help search for it early tomorrow morning ... However, all this was in vain.
For days on end, Hector stood on the boat, not eating or sleeping, staring straight out to sea.
Because his heart had always believed in the belief that Eloise was still waiting for him and he couldn't afford to delay for a single minute!
In the sea breeze, some parts of Hector's cheeks have cracked, revealing hints of blood.
But this pain is nothing compared to the pain that rips through the heart.
The heartache haunted him at times.
Hector holds the bracelet Eloise gave him in his hand, touching the scene.
This bracelet was hand-knitted by Eloise to represent peace.
He is safe, but ... why did something bad happen to his Eloise?
Is God so unjust?
No!
He will fight against the heavens! No one will take Eloise away from him!
The aura on Hector suddenly became regal and his eyes were determined as he headed for the deck.
Behind him the salvage captain, at this time trembling, came forward.
Looking at Hector's infatuation, he didn't know how to say anything.
But they couldn't waste any more manpower like this for nothing; there were others waiting for them. After thinking about it, he called out to Hector, "Mr Hector ... I have something I want to say to you." "Say."
With one cold word out, Hector's eyes looked straight at the salvage captain.
The captain cowered a little at the sight of him like that.
Finally had to speak up, "Mr Hector, we've been salvaging for over half a month, even if the person isn't dead, the chances of survival are slim, so I ..." "You shut up!"
Before he could finish, Hector interrupted him in a stern voice.
The next second, Hector grabbed the captain directly by the collar, his eyes bloodthirsty and his voice harsh: "I still have my Eloise, and none of you will take her away from me! Go and replace her! All of you! Until you replace someone!"
As the words fell, Hector's entire body felt like it was dislodged and his eyes went black.
A fishy sweetness welled up in his throat and blood trickled down the corners of Hector's mouth.
Seeing this, Rupert rushed forward to help Hector and said heartily, "Brother! Come to your senses! The captain is right! Your sister-in-law is in a bad way! You've got a lot of work to do and you've got to pull yourself together! Are you still the same Hector? My sister-in-law doesn't want you to be like this!"
At these words, Hector laughed miserably and said feebly, "Is there any use in my pulling myself together... and will Eloise come back? Heh... I have no more light, my light is gone, it's so dark ahead, I can't see her face."
With those words, Hector was about to lunge forward and Rupert was quick to stop him.
Looking at such a haggard Hector it was hard to persuade him to do anything else, so he had to stay aside for a while.
The salvage captain on the floor stood up at this point and looked at Hector with a complicated expression.
Rupert gave a gesture to indicate that he should go over.
"I'm really sorry, my sister-in-law is missing and my brother he's a bit out of control right now, so please don't take it to heart."
The captain smiled and shook his head, "Mr Rupert, you don't have to say that, Mr Hector's situation is very understandable to me, but now it's past the safe period. There's not much hope of salvaging any more, there's really very little hope of people surviving, so ... also ask Mr Rupert to persuade him properly."
In fact, what did Rupert know about what the captain said?
How could Hector not understand that?
Just who wants to believe that fact.
No one can accept that someone who was alive and kicking just a few days ago has suddenly disappeared from their world.
A sad look came to Rupert's eyes as he talked the captain away and walked up to Hector.
What used to be a tall figure now looks so fragile.
It's true that things change.
After standing for a long time, Rupert spoke slowly.
"Brother, it's past the safe period and the chances of my sister-in-law surviving are extremely slim ..."
"I know it's hard to accept, but it's happened and we just have to deal with it ..."
