Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 653: You can't get married yet
The night is cool as water, the evening breeze is blowing and standing by the railing of the Seine, the bright moonlight draws out a cold silhouette. The Seine is quiet and beautiful at night.
A winding, unseen path of bright lights illuminates the streets, inadvertently evoking a sense of emotion.
Eloise, with her wind-blown hair slightly averted, gazes over the railings at the romantic evening scene.
Not far away, Hector emerged from the cafe, two cups of coffee in hand, and walked unsteadily towards her.
Eloise took the warm drink from Hector's hand and leaned her back against the railing as she smiled warmly, "Thank you."
The evening breeze blew bits of hair from her ears, and in the warm yellow light her face was pretty, except that the smile did not reach her eyes. Hector came up beside her and leaned casually to one side.
After a few sips of coffee, the bitter taste in his throat, he asked her with a sideways glance.
"Been in a bad mood lately?"
Eloise froze, then realised that he was asking because she had said earlier that she felt a bit stuffy.
"A bit, after all, there's been a lot going on lately and somehow it's just happened."
Eloise lowered her eyes slightly and whispered.
Such scenes made her feel comfortable, and for some reason, being alone with Hector always made it easy for her heart to spill out.
Hector looked slightly paused, but finally did not press on, he lightly opened his thin lips and said, "Because you are getting married recently, right?" The faint words stirred with a strong bitterness.
When I heard the news at the party, it was as if my heart had been torn apart.
This time, when confronted with Eloise, he could not resist asking.
Eloise looked up with some surprise and saw the look on Hector's face and was a little distraught.
"You got it."
Hector's throat moved slightly as he asked in a mute voice, "It's been decided, hasn't it?"
The bottom of his eyes hid the pain.
Eloise twisted the corners of her coat tightly and was silent for a moment.
Now that the whole Darlington family knows about her promise to Mrs Darlington to marry Rowson, what will happen in the end, she doesn't know. Hector had more or less guessed the answer when he saw her like this.
The grip on his fingertips turned white, and the starlight in his eyes fell away for a moment.
More and more bitterness climbed up and tore frantically at the petals of his heart.
"Whatever you decide." He said with a forced smile that was worse than a cry.
Not willing to push her after all.
Eloise took Hector's reaction in stride and her mind was in turmoil.
"I don't know if I've made up my mind either."
With a confused look in her eyes, Eloise confessed with some pain.
"Until you and Solomon came along, I always thought Rowson was my husband, and I certainly wouldn't have hesitated if he had asked me to marry him. But now, I'm really a bit unsure."
Eloise said, her body slowly turning cold as she slowly remembered something.
"I've been, lately, having dreams with lots of bits and pieces, and a person always appears ... I feel like he's important to me. But I can't see his face... so I'm confused too." Eloise spoke, her tone becoming rapid, her face pained and her head vaguely aching.
She had remembered these clips a long time ago, but she had always thought of the figure in the picture as Rowson, so she hadn't dwelled on it.
Recently, however, she has noticed that the figure in the picture is much closer in stature to Hector.
Several times she caught a faint glimpse of his face.
She wasn't sure if she had imagined it or if this was her original memory.
So the whole thing gets more and more confusing.
Hector listened on as a light flashed in his deep, clear eyes.
Like walking in endless darkness, Dreamland saw a faint light appear ahead.
At the bottom of his heart, a glimmer of hope was rekindled.
The thought snapped that perhaps, it was not yet time for him to let go.
"You can't get married yet!"
Hector's clear, strong voice landed, hitting a calm lake of the heart and rippling.
Eloise lifted her hazel eyes and stared blankly at Hector.
Seeing the determination in his eyes, confused, he asked, "Why, why?"
Hadn't he just said she could tie the knot when she decided?
In addition to confusion, there was also a vague sense of anticipation.
Eloise struggled to ignore the discomfort in her mind and looked earnestly at Hector.
"Because back home, you and I got a marriage license, legally we're married, you're my wife only. If you were to marry Rowson again, you would be committing bigamy." Hector's handsome face seemed to be shadowed by the light.
He looked at her intently, and his low, melodious voice continued to ring in his ears.
"If you had to marry Rowson, you'd have to go through a divorce with me first."
He struggled to show her cause and effect.
At the word divorce, his own heart and liver trembled and his eyes deepened.
When he got his license, he never wanted a divorce.
I never thought I would say that to Eloise today, either.
A moment of mixed emotions.
And Eloise, with even more mixed emotions than Hector, looked at him in consternation.
The mind digests Hector's message with astonishment.
Incredulous, she raised her voice and asked, "You and I are already legally married?"
It was thought that she and Hector had, at best, a previous relationship.
Any less than that, she had only borne him a son and was not married.
I didn't realize that in name only, she was also Mrs. Ken?
"If you don't believe me, just come back home with me and replace out."
A glint of expectation also rose in Hector's eyes.
He had been in such a frenzied mood earlier that he had actually overlooked this one obvious point.
The marriage certificate would easily prove who Eloise's husband really is.
I can't help but feel a little chagrined that I'm only thinking of it now.
Hector suddenly took Eloise by the wrist and led the man to the car.
The car made its way south, leaving only a streak of shadow in the darkness.
The whole time, Eloise was in a daze.
It took getting to the estate and being led inside the villa by Hector to come to his senses.
Solomon is still awake, watching TV in the living room, and turns around to see Eloise with a look of surprise on his face.
Without even putting on his shoes, he rushed over and hugged Eloise.
"Mummy, how did you get over here?"
Still back with Daddy.
Dark, clear eyes blinked and blinked as Solomon's gaze wandered ambiguously over the two.
Hector knocks Solomon on the forehead and tells him to stop messing around and entertain Eloise.
Then he headed upstairs on his own.
Went into the bedroom and opened a safe.
Hector's lips curled slightly as he searched for his and Eloise's marriage certificate and took it in his hands as he went downstairs.
Placing it on the coffee table, Hector said softly to Eloise, "Here's our marriage certificate, you can see it."
