Love Comes To Me
Chapter 707: You've let me down

A ripple rippled through the water and the person blinked out of sight.

Ramm's face sank and he jumped into the sea with him.

After searching for a while, he found nothing and finally had to come out of the sea.

By now Cerdic had taken care of the two bodyguards and was staring anxiously at the beach.

When he saw Ramm come out, he said, "Where is he? Why did he go into the sea?"

Ramm's face was frighteningly ugly.

"She jumped into the sea, but I've ruined one of her legs, so she shouldn't be far away."

Cerdic sniffed in confusion and said, somewhat puzzled, "What about the man?"

Ramm looked at him and said, without a good look, "No luck."

But he didn't believe Marian would just come out of thin air.

Marian had fought him for so long that his strength had long since been exhausted.

His leg had also been singed with a broken hamstring and Ramm had stabbed his aorta, so he definitely didn't have the stamina to swim much further. "Then go replace out again."

With those words, the pair jumped into the water.

This time they searched underwater for a long time again, but didn't even see anyone.

When they came up from underwater, they were a bit depressed.

The water still had her blood on it, so how could it not?

They were drenched and smelt of salty sea water.

Cerdic said bitterly, "So what now? The prince will be furious if he replaces out that Marian has escaped from us, and I don't want to see him in a rage." "What else can we do if we don't tell the prince, will you suffer the consequences?"

Ignoring the shouting Cerdic behind him, Ramm turned to leave.

At that moment in the sea, Marian was taken away without a word.

Bergerian's men were professionally trained and dealt with the situation extremely quickly.

The doctor was able to provide emergency treatment and then brought to Bergerian.

After the chase that had just taken place, Bergerian had returned to his flat on the shore.

A glance at Marian showed that her hair was wet and her face was purple.

What was particularly noticeable were the legs, which were bruised and skinned.

One could not help but frown and avert one's eyes.

Bergerian's gaze was faint and he asked carelessly, "Is he still alive?"

The private doctor, a man in his thirties, nodded, "It's a good thing it wasn't too late to save him, he's still alive after the first aid, don't worry sir."

Bergerian reached around Marian's neck and, after confirming that she was still alive, raised his eyes and asked, "What is her condition?"

"The hamstring is broken and there are numerous wounds, a bit of blood loss from a vicious cut at the artery, and these wounds have been compounded by seawater immersion.

If they are not treated by amputation, I fear for my life, but as the young lady is not yet awake, the matter of amputation is still for the young lady to decide."

Bergerian's face remained unchanged, as if he saw Marian as a machine, a machine that would bring him profit.

Without a care in the world, he replied, "In that case, let the amputation be done, and the sooner it is done, the better."

When the doctor saw this, he did not dare to contradict Bergerian, after all, he understood that less talk is more action.

Immediately afterwards Marian was wheeled into a room with a hospital bed, and he entered hurriedly carrying a medicine chest.

...

The operation took only half an hour and Marian was wheeled out, looking pale.

Bergerian called for Marian to be woken up. Marian struggled for a few moments before her vision became clear.

It took a few moments before she could see clearly.

Before she could fully react, she heard a cold male voice beside her.

"Awake?"

Marian turned her head to see Bergerian leaning back in a chair with two dark men behind him.

His brow was cold, his fingers tapping gently, his eyes full of indifference.

She tried to sit up, but found herself weak at the moment.

Taking the initiative, she spoke, "This matter is my inability to do well, and I am willing to endure all punishment."

Bergerian snorted coldly, stood up and handed Marian the diagnosis of her condition.

"You don't have to think about anything else, I believe in your loyalty, but there is bad news for you now, I think you should have felt it by now.

You've had an amputation, but I'll be putting in an artificial one for you, so you don't have to worry too much about that; from now on, this leg is the result of a clean break with your past. You'll still be Marian, but not the same Marian as before, do you understand?"

Marian pursed her lips, she had nothing to lose at this point, she had no choice but to fight or die.

She spoke up and replied, "Yes, I understand, and I will serve you faithfully from now on."

Bergerian smiled with satisfaction, but there was no trace of warmth in that smile.

It sent a chill down one's back and made one feel fearful.

"I will send someone to protect you during this time, so you don't have to worry that Hector will send someone to hurt you."

With those words, Bergerian turned to leave.

His back was erect, and for a moment only Marian and the two men in black were left in the room.

With trembling hands she took the diagnostic sheet for the condition, and the two words clearly written on it made her shudder. "Amputation."

Without her leg, she would be an invalid, even if she had a prosthesis later.

Thinking of this, Marian could not help but pound the bed.

The two men in black ignored Marian, just doing their job.

On the other side, Ramm returned without success.

Cerdic did not want to bear the brunt of Hector's anger, so he did not follow.

When Ramm enters the ward, he sees Hector flicking through his papers, despite the IV.

He didn't raise his head at the sound of footsteps, and his tone, though light, was faintly intimidating.

It was Hector's innate aura of superiority, even if there was a small unintentional movement, it still made people feel oppressed. "No arrests?"

The matter was his fault, and Ramm made no excuses, admitting his mistake bluntly, "Yes, I didn't bring Marian back."

Hector turned over another piece of paper and those dark, deep eyes met Ramm's gaze.

There was a faint huff in his tone, "You disappoint me."

With that, he closed the paper and placed it on the table next to the hospital bed.

"It's just that Bergerian is no pushover, so let's leave the matter at that."

Ramm was relieved to see that Hector was not pursuing the matter, but did not dare to show any sign of abnormality on his face.

Hector's eyes were sharp and cold, and after a moment's silence he said, "Keep investigating her whereabouts and wait silently for your chance."

"Yes, I will do my best and will not let you down."

Hector simply nodded, "You can go back now."

Knowing that staying here could be even more dangerous, Ramm hurriedly spoke out and replied, "Yes, I'll go back first then."

After Ramm left, Hector's brow furrowed a little more.

Marian's presence was a ticking time bomb, she had been under her own command for many years and knew too much that she shouldn't know at this time. But now Marian was Bergerian's man, and Bergerian was far too resourceful and treacherous.

It was highly unlikely that he would be able to snatch someone from under his nose.

Hector narrowed his eyes slightly, and his eyes were full of ruthlessness and murderousness.
