Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 725: Let's Talk
He inevitably had mixed feelings because of what happened last night, but he didn't say a word about it.
Eloise smiled, rose slowly and enquired, "You've been here long?"
She hadn't checked the time and had no idea what time it was.
If they had been waiting here just now, her heart would inevitably have been a little overwhelmed.
Rowson shook his head, "It was only for a little while, I was going to let you sleep more but then Sweety accidentally hit the glass ..." Sweety, who was named, looked like a small child who had done something wrong, hanging her head slightly and waiting for criticism.
Eloise, on the other hand, smiled and ran her slender hand over Sweety's head.
"Kids, who don't do things wrong at times."
With those words, Rowson didn't say another word, but gathered up the broken glass on the floor.
After tidying up, Rowson just sat calmly in the corner and watched the two of them, Eloise and Sweety.
Sweety fiddled with Eloise's slender fingers and said, seemingly deliberately, "Mummy, when are we going to Daddy's house, I'm a bit homesick for my brother."
At the sound of her voice, Eloise pursed her lips and glanced at Rowson, who was sitting next to her.
But there was no extra expression on his face, as if he hadn't heard.
She didn't answer Sweety's words, and was afraid that Rowson might misunderstand something else.
Although their wedding has been called off, she still doesn't want to hurt Rowson too much; after all, he is genuinely good to herself and Sweety.
Just as he was about to change the subject, Rowson, who was silent on the sidelines, opened his mouth, "Been better lately?"
When Sweety mentioned Hector just now, a hint of disgust brushed across his eyes and he felt extremely uncomfortable.
Really didn't want Sweety to continue this conversation with her.
Eloise was also relieved to see that he didn't press him on what Sweety had just said.
Lifting his eyes, he locked eyes with Rowson, "I should be out of the hospital in a couple of days, just a bit of an inflamed wound." Rowson gave a slight nod of awareness.
But a gloom clouded over the handsome face without moving.
Eloise didn't notice that something was wrong with him, and Sweety kept talking to her and she could only focus on Sweety.
Seeing mother and son chatting so happily, Rowson remembered the events of last night and an inexplicable twinge of boredom rose up in his heart. Getting up, he said flatly, "I have things to do, so I'll go back first."
"Hmm."
Eloise responded, then added, "Be safe on the road."
Rowson nodded, the corners of his mouth still curving involuntarily at her concern.
Just as she tried to take Sweety's hand to take her home, to her surprise Sweety ducked out of the way and said stubbornly, "I'm not going back with Daddy." Then turning her little head to Eloise she said, "Mummy, when are we going to Daddy's?"
The two 'daddies' here had two meanings entirely, and a wave of annoyance welled up in Rowson's heart.
Sweety blinked those big, dark eyes that shone brightly.
Eloise smiled, her original light smile immediately stiffened, and she could only smile awkwardly without replying.
"If you want to go, I'll drive you there then." Rowson said out loud.
He cannot, as Hector says, tie Eloise, or even Sweety, to his side; he has to give them a certain amount of freedom.
Because the relationship between them was already a little delicate, and if anything else went wrong at this point, it would be his own fault.
"No, I'll ask Hector to pick her up so you don't have to make a trip."
Eloise said softly, still a little pale.
Rowson frowned at this, but then looked at her face and felt some heartache.
Eloise didn't pay that much attention, however, and pulled out her mobile phone to call Hector.
The next second the call was answered, Rowson's hand couldn't help but clench.
The moment Eloise opened her mouth to speak, that took off with a steady stride.
The gloom on his face went unnoticed and Katerina, hiding in the shadows, curled her lips into a smile; now was the perfect opportunity. "What's wrong? Not feeling well?"
Hector's raspy voice rang in his ears as a barrage of questions was flung at him.
Lest he thought something had happened to him again, Eloise spoke up in a hurry, "No, Sweety came to my place, she wants to come and play at your place, come and pick her up."
As soon as the words were spoken, there was a "hmmm" followed by a busy tone.
Seeing that the phone had gone black, Eloise smiled helplessly.
By this time Sweety had taken off her shoes and climbed into bed and came under Eloise's quilt.
"Mummy, why don't you live with Daddy?"
Sweety's head tilted slightly and her big eyes were fixed on Eloise, who was off to the side.
At the sound of his voice, Eloise's grip on the phone increased a few notches.
"Because Mummy's sick and Daddy's sick now, and two sick people together is trouble, and besides Daddy's got his own thing going on."
She made up a random excuse to muddle through.
There were some facts she knew just fine, and she didn't want to put her children through too much, lest it cast a shadow over their tender minds. When Sweety heard Eloise's words, she just said "Oh" and didn't ask any more questions.
Rowson left the ward and headed straight for the lift, feeling a line of sight behind him and quickening his pace.
Behind her, Katerina followed at a brisk pace, but always kept a distance from him.
As he reached the corner, Rowson suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.
The bottom of his eyes were dark and his voice was cold to the core.
"Come out."
At the sound of her voice, Katerina was slightly startled, not expecting Rowson to replace her, it seemed to have a few tricks up its sleeve after all.
Seeing that there was no hiding, she slowly walked out, the corners of her mouth always curving up.
Katerina spoke up with generous enthusiasm, "Mr. Rowson, hello."
Underneath the eyes is a deep scowl.
Rowson frowned and leaned against the wall, his voice nonchalant, "What's the point of following me?"
Katerina smiled in the face of his questioning, a white nurse's uniform outlining her well-proportioned figure.
The skin also looked fairer, but the tone was very casual, "Mr. Rowson, that's not what the words say, what do you mean I followed you, the hospital is so big I also went downstairs, I just happened to be together. If you think I'm stalking you, don't you have a thing for me?"
At the words, Rowson's brow furrowed.
"I don't have the heart to go around in circles with you, I'll leave if there's nothing else."
Seeing that Rowson had opened the lift doors, Katerina suddenly spoke, "Let's talk.".
The comment tickled Rowson's interest and the leg that had stepped in retracted.
"What do we have to talk about?"
But the person in front of him was someone he didn't even know and didn't think was talking about Eloise's condition.
That...
A vague sense of foreboding came over me.
"Marian, I'm sure I don't need to say much."
After saying Marian's name, Katerina wrapped her arms around her chest, her gaze fixed on Rowson in front of her, taking in all his expressions.
Rowson's brow knitted tighter when he heard it was about Marian's people.
