Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 768: People are always selfish
Seeing Rowson's face darkening at an alarming rate, Katerina hurriedly changed the subject.
"I already have an idea, isn't your father's birthday coming up, so why not take advantage of it?"
Rowson didn't answer her question, didn't say a word, just stared straight at her.
Katerina didn't care, and said to herself: "When the time comes, you'll have a bigger party and invite Hector over.
Don't look at me like that, the Darlington family does business with the Rogers family and if it's the old man's birthday, it makes sense to invite him." Katerina has thought of everything for this moment.
Not a single flaw can be found.
Rowson opened his mouth without saying anything.
Katerina gave a delicate laugh and continued, "Don't worry about what happens after you go to the party, just leave it to me."
At this point, the lights in the bar flickered on and off and the music played deafeningly.
Rowson had half his face hidden in the shadows and Katerina could not see his expression clearly.
She didn't know what he was thinking, but she wasn't in a hurry; after all, this time it would do him no harm.
When he didn't say anything, Katerina pressed right up against him, but Rowson didn't even give her a glance out of the corner of his eye, remaining silent.
Half an hour later, Rowson did not say whether he agreed to Katerina's proposal.
Straight away, he picked up the clothes that were on the stool and turned to leave.
As she watched his departing back, a mysterious smile appeared at the corner of Katerina's mouth.
This is a man he would not disagree with, people are always selfish.
The following day, Eloise came out of the bathroom and drew a washcloth to wipe the water from her face.
There were drops of water sliding down her pale cheeks and landing on her slender neck.
Outside the window, the sun shines warmly.
Sweety was still asleep, so Eloise closed the curtains, blocking the light from coming in.
The phone on the bed suddenly vibrated and Eloise walked over to it quickly.
Upon seeing the contact, his brow furrowed for a small moment as he fished up his phone and walked outside to the balcony.
She pressed the answer button and lowered her voice to the other end, "What's wrong?"
When I got up in the morning, my voice was still not fully open and my vocal line carried a hint of laziness.
Rowson's eyes flickered slightly on the other end, then he gave a soft 'hmm'.
Rowson leaned his back against the railing and opened the door, "Eloise, it's almost Dad's birthday."
Eloise sniffed, startled, recalled the date and jolted back to the event.
Before Eloise could say anything, Rowson was the first to ask.
"I want to make it a big deal for Dad this birthday, do you want to come back and join me?"
Eloise nodded and responded without the slightest hesitation.
"Well, I'll go back and help."
During these three years, Rowson's parents have taken care of her in every way possible.
In particular, Mr. Darlington Sr. taught her a lot of lessons not only in life but also in work.
When it came to the old man's birthday, there was little reason for her to refuse.
There was little joy in Rowson's expression at Eloise's answer.
After all, Eloise's nature was still clear to him.
But the thought of Catherine's plan was a little worrying in turn.
Hopefully, when the time comes, this woman won't do anything to hurt Eloise.
There was a sudden dullness in the air, so Rowson spoke up, "If you're back to help, I'm here to thank you for Dad, so do you need me to send someone to pick you up?" "No, I should, I'll hang up if there's nothing else, Sweety seems to be up."
Across the screen, Eloise still felt a little awkward facing Rowson, pinching the corners of her coat in confusion and subconsciously fleeing.
"Hmm."
Rowson nods somewhat forlornly, and a moment later looks at the interface that ends the call with a bitter smile on his lips.
With that, his fists clenched, his eyes gradually became firm and obscure.
At this end, Eloise hung up the phone and walked over to the bed, calling a sleeping Sweety up.
"Baby, it's time to get up, the sun is shining."
Eloise gently rocked the little girl.
Sweety's small, pink face scrunched together in a flash and she rolled over, burying herself under the covers again.
Dazedly, she said to Eloise, "Mummy, sleep again."
"Sleep a little longer and you won't see Mummy, are you sure?"
Eloise gave the little girl a peck on the cheek.
"Hmm... eh?"
Sweety was so disoriented from her sleep that her brain was half a beat slower to react.
At the sound of Eloise's words, she sat up from the bed in a flash.
With her mouth pouting, she ran over and tugged Eloise, asking with sleepy eyes, "Mummy, where are you going?"
Eloise picked up her little girl and walked in the direction of the bathroom, scratching the tip of her nose and said dotingly, "Grandpa's birthday is in two days and Mummy has to go back to help, so she can't take care of you, so Sweety stays here, okay?"
"No, want mummy."
Sweety smiled, her expression instantly became reluctant, she didn't want to be separated from her mommy.
buried his face in Eloise's neck and rubbed it lingeringly.
Eloise reached out and stroked her head, smiling lightly.
I knew Sweety had just woken up, so she hadn't gotten over it yet and should be fine after a while, so I didn't rush to reason with her.
After washing and rinsing Sweety, mother and daughter headed downstairs.
Sweety was still reeling from the sadness of Eloise's departure, clutching at her clothes and not letting go.
"Mummy, sister."
Solomon was already in the living room, and when he saw Eloise and Sweety, he immediately pulled the chairs out and sat Eloise and Sweety down.
Sweety sat down and looked at Eloise fondly, "Mummy, can't Sweety come along?"
I can't help but sound a little pitiful.
Eloise sighed and was about to persuade the little girl when Hector came this way with Maryam in tow.
Hearing the little girl's words, and Solomon raised his voice in unison and asked, "Where are we going?"
Seeing several pairs of eyes gathered on her, Eloise rubbed her neck.
"Rowson's father has a birthday coming up and I need to go back and help out, I don't think I can take care of Sweety if the Darlington family, Sweety will let Mum look after her." Hector's brow furrowed slightly at his words, and layers of gloom could not help but rise up under his heart.
Subconsciously he didn't want to let Eloise go back.
"It's not a problem on my end, so if you're busy, go ahead and get busy." Maryam was understanding of her daughter's situation.
She had heard about Eloise's connection to the Darlington family and knew that Eloise was doing it for payback.
This will see the eyes drift to Hector with some concern.
Eloise naturally knew what her mother meant and looked over at Hector.
