Love Comes To Me
Chapter 773: It can't be him

Rowson's tone was indignant and rather unsettling.

Eloise frowned, not wanting to hear any more from Rowson.

"Okay I got it, that's it, I'll go and replace Sweety and the others."

With that she was about to leave, but Rowson stopped her with a hurt look on his face, "Are you still so protective of him at this point?" Eloise paused and shook her head, "I didn't, but what can't happen, I won't believe."

Somehow, she just believed, trusted Hector not to do it.

Any man might, but he, never.

"Well, in that case, I'll show you! When you see it with your own eyes, you will believe that I am not lying."

The resignation and sulking was evident in Rowson's voice.

Eloise didn't move, hesitating a little, "Better not go, in case he's talking about something official ..."

Before she could finish, Rowson cut her off straight away.

"What business, it was a woman who left with him! Eloise, how long are you going to deceive yourself, come with me!"

"I don't want to go."

Eloise took a step back, ready to leave.

Rowson went ahead and took her wrist, softly advising, "If he was talking business, I'd apologise for what I said and did, but Eloise I still don't want you to be left in the dark, we'll just go and look around, we won't disturb him." After much persuasion from Rowson, Eloise was eventually pulled away.

The terrain was complicated as Mr. Darlington Sr's birthday party was held on an estate.

The two men exited the ballroom and looked at the corridors that stretched out on either side, a little unsure which direction to go.

Eloise, who was at the fork in the road, once again refused, "Forget it, I want to go see Sweety now."

But Rowson pulled her back and said firmly, "I have to show you what he's really like."

At that, Eloise couldn't help but feel a little helpless, she didn't know why Rowson was being so persistent.

After looking around, Rowson decided on a direction.

"He went this way, let's go and replace out."

Eloise just had to follow him, with a slight reluctance in her heart.

Ten minutes passed and the pair searched around the guest rooms of the estate and found no one.

Eloise was really impatient now and broke away from Rowson's hand and said solemnly, "Rowson, wherever Hector went with whoever it was, I don't want to know, and I don't want to be here for nothing." With that, she turned and made to leave.

"Eloise, are you sure you're comfortable going back now?"

Rowson's muffled voice rang out behind itself.

He took a step in front of Eloise, his handsome features held a bit of seriousness, "I just don't want you to get hurt."

Rowson's hand smoothly tried to stroke her face, only for Eloise to dodge it.

Eloise was now a little annoyed that Rowson sounded so sure of himself, as if he had concluded that Hector had really done something.

But what he said wasn't unreasonable, and if she did go back at this point, she might not really feel at ease.

Even if one believes in him, one's heart is still sensitive.. and suspicious.

She took two steps back and forth and resigned herself to the fact that "Keep looking, then."

Seeing her promise, Rowson reminded, "You can give him a call, he'll pick up if he's not busy."

At that, Eloise's eyes lit up and she quickly pulled out her phone and dialled Hector's number. Inwardly, I expect his voice to ring out over there.

Unfortunately, there was no answer until the automatic hang-up.

Undeterred, Eloise continued to fight.

The results were invariably unanswered.

Now even if Rowson doesn't say anything, Eloise can't help but wonder.

What was he doing and why wasn't he answering his phone?

Mind you, Hector's phone was set to give her a special ringing alert for incoming calls, which she had inadvertently discovered.

Whenever the bell rings, Hector basically picks it up within three rings.

This current unanswered question makes her vaguely uneasy.

Rowson watched her without moving, saw that she was a little confused and spoke up at the right time, "I'm not lying to you, am I? He seems really busy right now!"

He deliberately added syllables to the word "busy" to give it a special meaning.

Not wanting to pay any attention to Rowson's words, Eloise took the lead and walked forward.

As the two had already passed through this corridor a few times, and as Rowson was the organiser of the occasion, the waiters along the way were already familiar with the duo. Politely, she asked, "Can I help you, sir, miss?"

Rowson spoke up, "We're looking for someone, a male, very tall ..."

He briefly described Hector's appearance and looks, but the attendant was shaking his head in bewilderment.

They then asked several waiters one after another and the answer was that they hadn't seen any.

Eloise was relieved to see this.

After some searching, she was not so set in her mind anymore.

She didn't know what to do if the waiter said the opposite of what she thought he would say.

But there are always surprises, and when they asked the tenth waiter, the answer was not that they didn't know.

Instead, a look of hesitation appeared on his face as he stared and thought.

"I think I saw this gentleman, in a dark grey suit."

At that the waiter paused again and recalled, "But he was accompanied by a very sexy lady with wavy curly hair."

The waiter's words caused Eloise's heart to hang in the air for an instant.

Today's Hector's suit is indeed dark grey.

At once, Rowson sounded a little surprised and hastily asked, "And did you see where they went?"

The waiter sniffed and shook his head.

Eloise, after a few moments of silence, exited and asked, "What did the man look like?"

She didn't even realise it herself, her voice was mute as hell at this point.

On hearing Eloise's query, the waiter looked apologetic.

"I'm sorry, I really didn't get a good look at this one, the gentleman had his head buried at the lady's neck so I didn't really see it." Eloise blanched at this description, but quickly perked up again.

There are so many people coming and going from this hotel, the one in the dark grey suit may not be Hector, it may be some drunken person. Hector hadn't been drinking, and from the waiter's description, it was clear that the two men were walking together in a Siamese embrace. Eloise couldn't imagine Hector doing such a thing while sober.

So, there is only one possibility, the man is not Hector.

She turned to Rowson and said matter-of-factly, "I don't think it could have been Hector."

Rowson raised an eyebrow at that and sneered, "You still refuse to believe that?"

"I know Hector for who he is." Eloise looked at Rowson with certainty.

Seeing the trust in her eyes, Rowson was annoyed, and his face was dark and half silent.

It was a long time before he said, "You know him? Where do you know him from? You've only known each other a few months."

Unable to explain that bone-deep trust, Eloise blurted out, "I'm sure we haven't just known each other for a few months, I just can't remember."
