Love Comes To Me
Chapter 935: Omnipotence

Edgar took his time sorting out the papers at hand, not bothering with Arlice.

Arlice's teeth were clenched, obviously angry, but still smiling, "Anyway, congratulations in advance."

This "congratulations" is certainly not genuine.

It was clear in the minds of those present.

Edgar gave a faint smile, "Thanks."

The atmosphere grew tense as the dark tide rose between the two men.

Just then, Devona was heard to grunt coldly, "What congratulations, everything is still subject to change."

"Dad, let's go."

Goode was reluctant to talk to them much and just wanted to hurry back to replace a way to stop the old man from handing over the family business to Edgar. The Devona family left in a hurry, followed by Farabee and Arlice.

Edgar was the only one left in the large office.

He took a long, big sigh of relief before pulling back his chair and sitting down.

The battle is won today, but it is not really reassuring yet. Only when the old man has confirmed the choice of the heir will it be considered a real win.

...

City J, Rogers family.

Eloise woke up early, the two little ones were still asleep, she gingerly got out of bed and walked out.

Downstairs to replace Hector already up too.

"What are you doing so early?" Hector frowned slightly as he watched her approach.

Eloise shrugged her shoulders, "Couldn't sleep."

"Worried about Grandpa?"

"Hmm."

She didn't sleep very well all night and always had a very uneasy feeling in her heart.

"Grandpa will be fine." Hector said.

Eloise took a deep breath, "I know it'll be fine, but it's still unsettling."

Hector stroked her head, "Well, stop thinking about it, I'll go and pour you a glass of milk."

With that, he turned and walked towards the kitchen.

After breakfast, Eloise went to the hospital.

She had not visited her mother in hospital since her health problems had arisen, fearing that she might be worried.

Maryam saw her coming and feigned displeasure, "I thought you'd forgotten me as your mother."

Although she knew her mother was joking, Eloise felt a little guilty inside.

"Mom, I'm sorry I've been ... for a while."

"No need to talk about it." Maryam interrupted her and smiled, "I was just joking with you, I don't blame you, and Hector and I said you'd come see me when you were done." Eloise was surprised at first, then laughed.

Hector had really thought things through better than she had.

Sitting down on the edge of the bed, Eloise takes a good look at her mother, her brows furrowed.

Mother looks quite well, but feels ...

"Mom, you've lost weight." Eloise's voice was laced with a hint of heartache.

"Yeah?" Maryam raised her hand and touched her face, "Why don't I feel like I've lost weight?"

Eloise scowled, "Mum, you need to eat regularly. Your body needs nourishment now and this will not hold up if you keep losing weight."

Maryam smiled and nodded, "Yes, yes, I'll eat properly."

She took Eloise's hand in hers and frowned slightly, "And you say I've lost weight, you haven't lost weight yourself."

"I'm not, the weight hasn't even changed much."

Eloise finished sheepishly and hurriedly changed the subject, "By the way, Mum, how is your body feeling?"

"People are a bit better these days and the doctor said I'm recovering quite well."

Eloise breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good. By the way, I'm going to see my grandfather in a few days."

The smile on Maryam's face slowly fades at the mention of Grandpa Khan.

"Mum, is there anything you want to say to Grandpa?"

It is not convenient for my mother to go to Kyoto in her present state of health, but words can always be brought.

Maryam was lost in thought, she and her father hadn't seen each other for so many years and it was like she had so much to say, but didn't know what to say.

She left home capriciously for a man back then, and all these years have passed without her ever contacting her father, who has never sought her out.

It was as if they were gambling, neither of them willing to bow down first.

Maryam laughed bitterly, "No."

"No?" Eloise frowned, she had expected her mother to have a lot to say to her grandfather.

"How is your grandfather's health?"

"It's okay, people are in good spirits."

"That's fine."

Maryam smiled and said in a helpless tone, "I can't go back now either, so I'll go back to see them myself when I'm better."

Not wanting to see her mother upset, Eloise smiled, "Mum, don't you still have me? I'll take a good look at Grandpa and the others for you."

She did not tell her mother about the Khan family's current situation, not wanting her to worry as much as she did.

"Good." Maryam patted her hand and then whirled around to ask with concern, "How are Solomon, Sweety?"

"They're very good, they miss you every day and they miss you a lot. So Mom, get well soon."

"Well, I'll get better in a hurry."

Eloise spent the whole day at the hospital with her mother until Hector came to pick her up after work.

Maryam was already asleep when Hector arrived at the hospital.

"My mother, although she seems to be in good spirits, is not really well and gets tired easily."

Looking at her mother in bed, Eloise had a worried look on her face.

"Hector, do you think my mother will ..." Eloise's voice choked up, not daring to go on.

"Don't be naive." Hector put his arm around her shoulder and looked at his mother in the hospital bed, "I'll get the doctor to come up with a treatment plan as soon as possible, if that's not possible, we'll send Mum abroad for treatment." Eloise's eyes watered and she turned, burying her face into his chest and muffled, "Thank you, Hector."

If she hadn't known him and been with him, she would have been helpless at this moment.

"Silly, I told you, we don't need to say thank you to each other." Hector lifted his hand and gently stroked her soft hair, "There, don't worry, Mum will get better."

Eloise sniffled and tilted her head, her eyes falling on his crisp jaw and her lips curving up, "Mmm! If you say it's going to be okay, it's going to be okay, I believe you."

At that, Hector looked down into her watery eyes and lost his smile, "Do you trust me that much?"

"Yes, in my eyes, you are Superman, all-powerful."

The smile on Hector's lips deepened a few notches and even the tips of his eyebrows were tinged with laughter, "I'm honoured."

Eloise gathered herself and went over to tuck her mother in and said softly, "Mum, get some rest, I'll see you some other time." Hector came up and locked eyes with her before taking her hand, "Back?"

"Hmm." Eloise nodded.

The two men left together.

Sitting in the car, Hector suddenly said, "Edgar called me and said that, no surprise, Grandpa will announce him as the heir tomorrow."
