Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 940: Was it an accident?
It's a foregone conclusion, but Devona is still not happy about it.
"Edgar is too young to be able to manage the company well."
"How could I have gotten the deal with Rogers Group if I wasn't capable?" Edgar turned his head towards Hector.
Knowing it was time to make a statement himself, Hector rose, his thin lips parted and his low, cold voice rang out, "I believe that in the future, under Edgar's management, the partnership between Rogers Group and Khan Group will bring great benefits to both parties."
The implication is that he believes Edgar has the ability to manage the Khan Group well.
"Who doesn't already know that he was able to take the partnership down, thanks to Eloise," Herrin snorted dismissively.
Hector looked over with a stern gaze, "You're Eloise's cousin too, so can you persuade me to work with you?"
Herrin choked and snapped, ducking behind her father.
The Devona family has finally come to grips with the reality that the situation has been decided and there is no point in talking about it.
A dispute over the family fortune was finally over for the time being, and both Devona Farabee families left with rather pale faces.
It was only then that Eloise slumped back on the sofa, a look of exhaustion on her brow.
At the end of the day, it was more tiring than running a marathon.
And it's a physically and mentally exhausting kind of exhaustion.
"Not feeling well?" Hector asked with concern when he saw that she didn't look very well.
"No."
Eloise took a deep breath and let it out again slowly, "I just think my cousin is really tired of living in a family like this."
Brimlad, who was walking over, heard this and sighed helplessly, "More than tired, he has to be on the lookout for anyone trying to harm him." "Auntie." Eloise hurried to sit up straight.
"Here, have some milk to fill your stomach, you haven't even eaten dinner." Brimlad handed each of them two glasses of milk from his hand. "Thanks." Hector said thank you politely.
Brimlad smiled slightly, "We're all family, no need to be so polite."
Eloise took a sip of her milk and suddenly thought of something, "Auntie, can you tell me about Grandpa's car accident?"
"What do you want to know?" Brimlad sat down across from her.
"I want to know if this car accident was an accident?"
Brimlad shook his head, "I'm not sure, the police are still investigating."
"Has there been anything strange in the house lately?" Eloise asked again.
"Strange place?" Brimlad frowned thoughtfully and shook his head, "Nothing to be found."
Eloise and Hector looked at each other, both with a lot of questions on their minds.
The timing of the old man's accident was so coincidental, occurring just before the announcement of the heir, that it had to raise suspicions.
However, there is also no evidence that it was not an accident.
"The kitchen is preparing some food, so you can eat later and then go upstairs and rest."
Brimlad got up and was about to walk away when he suddenly thought of something and turned back, "Why don't I show you the rooms upstairs while we're at it and see what else we need before we get ready." "Good."
Eloise and Hector followed her up the stairs.
The room Brimlad has prepared for them is at the far end of the corridor on the first floor.
"I had the maids clean it all up, the sheets are new, see if there's anything else you need, just talk to me."
The room is large and warmly furnished, as if it were as if they were to stay here for a long time.
Eloise was touched and shook her head, "No, we don't need anything."
"That's fine, you guys rest first. I'll come up and shout at you later when dinner is ready."
After Brimlad went out, Eloise lay straight back down on the bed and let out a long sigh of relief, "I'm so tired."
Hector walked over to her and lowered his head to take in the exhaustion on her face, and was distressed.
"Rest when you're tired."
"Good."
Eloise closes her eyes and soon falls asleep.
Hector gently tucked the covers over her, reached down and ruffled the strands of hair from her cheeks, leaned in and kissed her gently on the heart of her forehead. "Good night."
...
The next day, Edgar arrived at the office, followed by several directors.
"Edgar, a few of us have thought about it and we still feel that you are too young and we really don't feel comfortable leaving the Khan Group in your hands."
Anticipating this situation, Edgar said unhurriedly, "I can understand how a few uncles feel, but it's my grandfather's wish."
The implication is that they can go to the old man if they want to have an opinion.
But now the old man was still in a coma, how could he listen to what they had to say.
A few of the directors looked at me and I looked at you, and one of them spoke up, "I know it was your grandfather's intention, but we can't accept that your grandfather gave you his seat without our consent." Edgar looked at them, looking calm but actually a little apprehensive inside.
These directors are either pro-Arlice or pro-Goode, so must be very unhappy with him.
What to do then?
Edgar thought about it, "Why don't we call another board meeting and vote on the spot to see if more or less people support me."
The directors were silent.
Because they know very well that there will be more people supporting Edgar, after all, there are a number of directors who founded Khan Group with Grandpa Khan back in the day and are loyal to the old man. "What do a few uncles think?"
Before the directors could reply, the assistant at the side suddenly spoke up, "Mr Edgar has already secured a long-term partnership with Rogers Group, with the support of Rogers Group, there is no fear that the company will not go far." It was only when the assistant mentioned it that several directors remembered the partnership between Khan Group and Rogers Group and their faces turned strange.
To be honest, although they were not happy with Edgar, what they wanted more than anything was for the Khan Group to do well so that they would have a greater stake in it.
Several directors discussed in whispers before taking a position, "Fine then, we'll trust you for now."
Having said that, they left.
Edgar lifted his hand to loosen his tie and let out a huge sigh of relief. It was a good thing he had the cooperation of the Rogers Group, otherwise they would not have let him off so easily.
...
Eloise got up early in the morning, had breakfast and went to the hospital with Brimlad to look after the old man.
Brimlad rubbed the old man's hand carefully with a damp towel. She looked up at Eloise, who was standing on the other side of the bed, and after a moment's thought, she said, "Eloise, would you like to hear about your grandfather?" Eloise looked bewildered, "Grandpa's business?"
"It's what's been going on with your grandfather these past few years." Brimlad put the towel to the side and looked up at her, "Want to hear it?" "Think." Eloise nodded her head.
"I wonder if Maryam ever mentioned your grandfather and grandmother."
"No."
Eloise truthfully replied that she would not have known where her mother's mother's family was if Edgar had not come to her door at the time.
After all these years, my mother has not said a word about her family.
Brimlad is not surprised, "Very much in keeping with Maryam's character."
She paused and continued, "Your grandfather and grandmother were very close, so after your grandmother left, the old man's health deteriorated and on several occasions he almost followed suit."
