Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 967: Then I will accompany you instead
Hector drove to the address Edgar had sent him, which was a five-star hotel in Kyoto. Arriving at the hotel, I caught a glimpse of Edgar standing at the door, waiting.
"Hector."
Edgar saw Hector getting out of the car and immediately greeted him.
"Coming?" Hector asked.
"Well. Mr Rawlins is already upstairs waiting for you."
Edgar led Hector upstairs to the private room he had booked.
As soon as the door was pushed open, Rawlins, who had been sitting, hurriedly stood up and enthusiastically approached, extending his hand, "Mr Hector, thank you for your willingness to come over." Hector shook his hand without speaking.
Rawlins was not impressed, knowing that he had always been a man of few words.
"Here, Mr Hector, you sit over here."
Rawlins arranged for him to sit down.
Hector nods politely and sits down as he is told.
"I ordered the most famous dish over here, so if you don't like it, you can order another." Rawlins pushed the menu over.
"It's not necessary, you make the call."
Their main concern is to talk about cooperation and it does not matter what they eat.
"That's fine." Rawlins took the menu back as he looked across at the man and then at Edgar, the atmosphere inexplicably a little awkward.
Edgar glanced sideways at Hector and spoke up, "Mr Rawlins, I've told Mr Hector about your previous collaboration. The main reason I'm here today is to hear what you think about it."
"Ideas." Rawlins lowered his head in serious thought for a moment before saying slowly, "The Khan Group and Rogers Group are financially strong and will certainly not have a problem with funding, but there is a problem ..." Before he could finish, Edgar pursued the question, "What's the problem?"
"Well ... I'll break it down for you guys." Rawlins thought for a moment and continued, "The most important thing for a company is funding and also talent, have you found any good researchers?"
Edgar nodded, "They're already looking and talking, it's just that the guys have basically signed contracts and won't be here for a while."
"So you're planning to just start a company up front and not prepare to develop products or anything?"
"This..." Edgar wasn't sure what to say to that as he turned his head to Hector.
The latter, sensing his gaze, gave him a sidelong glance and spoke blandly, "Does Mr Rawlins mean he wants to give us your researcher?" Rawlins laughs, "If we work together, yes indeed."
Hector raised his eyebrows ever so slightly, a little surprised that he was so forthcoming.
"Mr Hector, you might consider looking into it."
Rawlins got up and poured him a glass of wine and continued, "This is a wine I brought from home especially for you, try it, it's very good." "Thanks."
Hector took a sip from it, "Nice."
The smile on Rawlins' face instantly deepened, "Mr Hector likes it just fine."
Afterwards, the food slowly came up and Rawlins stopped talking about collaboration for a while and instead talked to Edgar about some of the company's operations. Hector listens quietly, only occasionally speaking up when they ask him.
After three rounds of drinks, Rawlins decided the time was right and spoke straightforwardly, "Mr Hector, do you agree to the partnership?"
Instead of answering right away, Hector asked, "Edgar, what do you think?"
Edgar didn't expect him to give himself this dilemma and was caught off guard for a moment, but fortunately he had thought it all through before he arrived.
He then spoke without panic, "It's an honour to work with the Bartram Group."
Rawlins laughed at this, "Mr Edgar, I don't really want to hear such polite words, just say yes or no."
"Hector, I..." Edgar looked tentatively at Hector.
"It's your call." Hector said.
Now that he's said that, ...
Edgar pondered extremely quickly, "Yes, I agree."
The answer brought Rawlins to his feet in excitement, "Mr Edgar, are you sure?"
"OK."
And so the partnership between the three groups was negotiated.
...
It was after ten o'clock when Hector and Edgar returned to the Khan family and the two children had gone to bed. Eloise was watching a TV series with Brimlad and when they saw them return, both of them rushed up to greet them. "You're back, are you hungry?" Brimlad asked with concern.
Edgar shook his head, "Not hungry."
"Where's Hector?" Brimlad looked to Hector.
"I'm not hungry either."
Eloise sniffed and frowned slightly, "You've been drinking?"
When Edgar heard her ask, he thought she wouldn't let Hector drink and hastily explained, "Just a little, not much."
His nervous look made Eloise laugh, "Cousin, I don't mean to blame you guys, I just smelled the wine and asked in passing." "Oh." Edgar smiled shyly.
"You guys go upstairs and get some rest, it's late." Brimlad said.
Eloise nodded, "Good."
As soon as she walked upstairs into the room, Eloise was scooped up into Hector's arms.
Hector rested his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes.
It was quiet all around, so quiet that the only sound heard was each other's breathing.
Eloise curled her mouth and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just wanted to hug you."
His low, slightly husky voice sounded in her ears and her heart fluttered hard, her legs going slightly weak.
She dared not say anything else and allowed him to hold her quietly.
Time passed and just when Eloise thought he was asleep, he let go of his hand.
"Tomorrow I'm sending Solomon, Sweety back to City J."
Eloise answered softly with a "yes".
Although it is hard to let go, the children still have to go to school.
"When I'm done with my business, we'll go back to City J together," Hector said.
At that, Eloise bit her lip and asked tentatively, "Do you not like me staying here?"
Hector frowned, "What makes you think that, is it because I want you to go back to City J?"
Eloise is silent.
"Fool." Hector lost his smile helplessly, "You can be wherever you like. I'll let you come back to City J with me, I just don't want to be separated from you because I have work back there and I don't have time for you over here." Ashamed of herself for thinking that way, Eloise thought for a moment, "You don't have time for me, so I'll stay with you instead."
Hector has sacrificed a lot for her and all she can do now is to be there for him.
Hector gently stroked her cheek and said softly, "Do what you want."
"Then it's a deal, I'll stay with you."
After saying that, she nudged him, "Go and take a shower. It doesn't smell good with all that booze."
"Is that so?" Hector sniffed down, his sword brow furrowing slightly; the smell of alcohol was indeed heavy.
Eloise urged with a smile, "Get on with it, it's late."
She watched him go into the bathroom before she climbed into bed and sat against it, picking up the book she hadn't finished earlier and continuing to read.
