Chapter 1202

Chapter 1202 “I don't want to go. These little events are entirely meaningless.” It was always one and the same thing. She had toentertain one guest after another and make boring small talk. If she accidentally blurted out the wrong thing, she would end upgetting punished.

Her mother was the worst offender of them all and always nagged at her whenever she went.Sherry cocked an eyebrow upon hearing this and stayed silent.

“Don't you want to join in the fun? Why don't you go instead?” Queenie suddenly suggested.Sherry answered, “I'd rather eat and watch TV here. This is much more interesting.”

Queenie seemed to ponder for a moment, then she scoffed and told Hailey to sit down again. The three of them continued watching the show while feasting

Meanwhile, a fleet of expensive cars was arriving outside

the Stocktons' residence.

Julie and Shannon were dressed to the nines and were busy greeting the arriving guests and making conversation. The butler ofthe house, Marlow, was with them the entire time.

Julie was very good at entertaining the guests. Shannon stood next to her and chimed into the conversation from time to time. Both of them wore polite and welcoming smiles on their faces.

Soon, the Browns arrived, and Mason could be seen stepping out of the car in a tailored suit.Something gleamed in Julie‘s eyes as she turned to Shannon.

Shannon seemed suddenly arrested by the sight of Mason. It was only when he began to approach them that she quicklyrecollected herself and looked completely normal.

Before Julie could utter a word, she greeted Mason herself, “Welcome, Mason. It's very good to see you.”Mason glanced at her and returned a polite greeting,” Good afternoon.”

Julie greeted him as well, “Master Brown, please, come

in.”

Mason nodded and entered.

When Shannon gazed at his back as he strode into the house, something suddenly flashed in her eyes as if a bright ideaoccurred to her.

Julie observed Shannon’s expression and asked with intrigue, “What are you looking at?”Shannon withdrew her gaze and stated, “Oh, you know, | was just thinking about how | was supposed to beengaged to him. It does make me feel a little guilty seeing him all by himself now.”

Julie smiled. “I'm sure he's holding up well enough on his own. He didn‘t seem too dejected or anything like that when he sawyou, so I'm sure he’s already over it.”

Would this suggest that Mason no longer held any feelings toward her?Shannon was slightly bothered by that thought but made sure to not let it show. “Probably.”

After a while, they all went to the banquet hall after all the guests had arrived. Madam Stockton showed up as well. Everythingprogressed smoothly according to plan.

When it was time for everyone to freely mingle around, Shannon excused herself to a quiet corner since she was not activelyengaged in conversation with anyone. She noticed Mason and carefully approached him, “Mason, do you have a second? I'd liketo speak to you.”

Mason frowned and answered crossly, “You're Mrs. Stockton now. It'll look bad if we were seen talking privately. If you haveanything to say, you should just say it right here.”

A morbid look surfaced in Shannon‘s eyes upon detecting the apparent aversion Mason felt toward her.She brushed it aside and declared with a smile, “It's about my sister.”“Sherry?” This seemed to capture his interest. He asked in an anxious voice, “What happened to her? Is everything okay?”

Shannon suddenly wrenched her face in displeasure. She took a deep breath and proposed again with a nonchalant smile, “Thisisn't a good place to talk. Let's go outside for a second.”

Mason immediately set the wine glass down and walked out with her.
