Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1294
Emma was momentarily frozen, her gaze inexplicably drawn to the floor-to-ceiling window.
There, a strikingly handsome man sat, as captivating as Dustin had been when she first met him. He seemed oblivious to the office's hustle and bustle, his eyes occasionally drifting towards Brielle.
But Brielle hadn't noticed; she was focused on the documents in front of her. When she finally looked up at Emma, Emma stiffened, like a deer caught in headlights.
Sensing Emma's discomfort, Brielle softened her tone. "I've heard about the situation with Leona. Next time you go live, the company will put out an official statement explaining the bracelet issue and the donations. I heard you've been getting a lot of flak in your live streams?"
Emma nodded, "Yeah, everyone's asking if the cops have been in touch, but honestly, they haven't."
Brielle pondered this for a moment before explaining, "Don't worry about it. Any donations over a thousand dollars get immediately verified by the company. The account that donated to you was registered with an overseas address, so we can't track down more specific info. But as long as they're willing to donate, that money is rightfully yours."
Emma's face lit up with gratitude, surprised by Brielle's approachability. "Thank you, Mr. Haywood. I appreciate it."
Brielle flipped back to a previous page, reviewing Emma's performance metrics. "I see you're currently ranked twenty-third. If you keep up this trend, breaking into the top three isn't out of the question. You're quite photogenic, perfect for a leading broadcaster. But as much as I admire you, I can't just hand you success; it has to be earned. However, I'm curious about your relationship with your mother. She dresses simply, yet she's spent quite a bit on you."
Peyton, who had been silent until now, stepped forward. "It's not like that, Mr. Haywood. My daughter, she's been nothing but good."
Peyton shared bits about Emma's schooling and her own health struggles over the years, ultimately relying on her daughter's care, before sighing deeply. "I don't know why people say she's leeching off me. If anything, I've been a burden on her. But she's all I have. If I were gone, who would look after her?"
Brielle hadn't expected their journey to be so filled with hardships. Still, the principle remained: success must be earned.
"We've got a good grasp of your situation. Don't let this distract you from your streaming. You've found a style that suits you; whether you make it into the top three depends on how well you can attract foflowers."
Emma nodded, taking Peyton with her as they left, still a bit dazed. Outside, Peyton clutched Emma's hand excitedly. "Does this mean we're closer to fixing up our little house back in the town?"
Emma beamed, "Yes! We are! Mom, let's keep streaming and see if luck's on our side. If we really make it into the top three, we'll have even more options."
Peyton was visibly moved, though her eyes reddened with emotion. "That's wonderful."
After they left, Brielle returned her focus to the documents in front of her. King stood up from his spot near the window, approaching her. "Any issues with the account?" Brielle shook her head, then quickly shifted the topic. "You mentioned having leads on my family. Where are we with that?"
King hadn't expected her to cling to that topic but saw it as an opportunity to discuss the Lynch family. Seating himself beside her, he delved into the Lynch family's story, watching as Brielle absorbed the information in silence,
After a while, she asked, "So, my family's wealthy, is that what you're saying?"
King, worried she might be overwhelmed, was about to reassure her when she inquired, "Does that mean we can buy back Premier Palace soon?"
If her family, who had been searching for her, was indeed affluent, acquiring Premier Palace shouldn't be a problem, right? King found himself at a loss for words, a twinge of unease in his heart. Regardless of where Brielle's memory paused, her sincerity towards anything related to Max remained unwavering.
