Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire -
Chapter 317
"It's not an issue with the baby. The baby's development is going well so far. It's actually your health that's causing problems, which led to your sudden, intense abdominal pain and bleeding. That's why our earlier prenatal checks didn't flag anything unusual." Hearing that her baby was fine, Selena let out a sigh of relief, but the news about her own health was baffling. She'd been taking care of herself diligently for months and thought she was in the clear.
Dr. Martin continued to explain, using medical jargon that made Selena's head spin. She rubbed her temples and asked, "Doctor, can you break it down for me? What am I facing next?"
Dr. Martin hesitated for a moment. She motioned for the nurse to leave before speaking quietly, "Mrs. Bennett, because you're pregnant, there are limits to the tests we can do. I've talked with several specialists, and given your current condition, we think it's best to consider ending the pregnancy. If you go through with the delivery, there's a high risk of hemorrhage, which could be fatal for both you and the baby."
Selena's eyes widened in shock, struggling to process what she'd just heard.
Everything had seemed fine, so how did it suddenly become so serious?
"Dr. Martin, could there be a mistake? I've been alright these past few months!"
She licked her dry lips, desperate for some good news from the doctor.
But Dr. Martin shook her head with a sigh, "Your situation is rare, but it does happen. There's no clear medical explanation yet; it seems to vary from person to person. You're what we might call... an unfortunate outlier." Such a simple phrase, yet it was threatening to take her child away.
This wasn't just a new pregnancy; she was over six months along. They had been through so much together. He was still fighting to live, and she had so many dreams for him. Ending it now felt like tearing her heart out. Dr. Martin could see the pain and reluctance in Selena's eyes. No mother wants to hear such devastating news.
But as a doctor, she had to give her best advice.
"Mrs. Bennett, I can only imagine
how you feel, but at over six months, an induced labor is risky, so it's best not to delay. You should talk this
over with Mr. Everett as soon as you can."
Tears welled up in Selena's eyes, and her voice was hoarse as

Dr. Martin paused before replying, "There's a small chance, but it's very slim, Mrs. Bennett. Even if you lose this child, if you look after your. health you'll still have the chance to conceive again. Why hold onto this so tightly?"
Everyone understands the logic.
But when it comes down to it, who can stay entirely rational?
For Selena, even though he hadn't been born yet, the six-month-old fetus was already a part of her she couldn't imagine losing. She was in a daze for a long time before finally leaving the clinic.
Outside, Ava rushed over, noticing her pale face, filled with concern, "Ma'am, what happened? Is something wrong with the baby?" Selena didn't have the energy to explain everything; she just murmured, "Where's Everett?"
