Chapter

Mackenzie, what’s going on? Are you the one who usually cooks at home?”

Felicity questioned, her eyes fixed on Emmanuel.

Sarah also wore a stunned expression as she looked at him, replaceing it

unbelievable. Does this man have such great charm? Even my proud and independent sister treats him so

considerately?

Mackenzie was ready to explain and clarify the situation to him, but to her surprise, he displayed a higher level of

emotional intelligence than she had

anticipated.

Smiling, he explained, “Mother, you’ve misunderstood! Normally, I’m the one who does the cooking at home.

However, tonight Mackenzie insisted that her culinary skills surpassed mine and wanted to prove it by preparing a

meal herself. So, she took on the role of the master chef!”

Felicity finally breathed a sigh of relief and nodded. “I see! Yes, she’s a genius.

Even though she doesn’t cook often, her culinary skills are impressive!”

Mackenzie was momentarily stunned, unable to resist secretly giving the two

a thumbs-up.

Giving Emmanuel a thumbs-up was a testament to his strong survival

instinct. Despite appearing silly and clueless most of the time, he had a knack

for conversing with his mother-in-law.

Meanwhile, giving Felicity a thumbs-up was praise for her ability to fabricate

stories and deceive not only others but also herself.

What’s more, when did she ever cook for them at home? How did she even

know that Mackenzie’s culinary skills were good?

“Well, looks like we’re in for a treat tonight!” Emmanuel echoed Felicity’s words

and smiled. “Please take your seats. I’ll serve the food for you!”

She nodded and took a seat gracefully. Despite her disapproval of him being

with Mackenzie, she did not show it at all.

On the other hand, Sarah followed him, eager to assist him in serving the dishes.

“Sarah, I can handle it! Please take a seat!” Emmanuel did not want a young

miss like Sarah to do such chores and promptly intervened to stop her.

She, however, had a radiant smile and a down-to-earth demeanor. “It’s

alright, Emmanuel. I’m used to doing household chores at home.”

“Oh?” Emmanuel was slightly taken aback, replaceing it hard to imagine such a

scene. How can a young lady from an affluent family like yours still do

household chores at home? Do the Quillen family’s servants just idle around?

“Mackenzie, the dishes are appetizing. Sarah appeared well-behaved,

praising Mackenzie’s culinary skills while serving the dishes.

Mackenzie’s demeanor, on the other hand, was unusually cold, a stark

contrast to how she treated her younger sister Beatrix.

ver, she chose not to respond to Sarah and refrained from making

harsh remarks. After all, she believed in not attacking someone who

approached with a smile.

Surprisingly, the dinner proceeded harmoniously

Emmanuel was aware of Follcity holding a low opinion of him. However, he

noticed that she refrained from making any offensive or targeted remarks,

possibly due to her maturity or out of concern for Mackonzle’s feelings.

On the other hand, Sarah was incredibly well-behaved, showcasing a stark

contrast to Mackenzie. She did not rosemble a privileged heiress and showed

no signs of being spoiled. After the med, she willingly helped tidy up the

tableware and even offered to assist with washing the dishes.

Of course, he would not allow her to wash the dishes. However, when he

finished washing and came out of the kitchen, he was surprised that Sarah

had helped pack the trash in the garbage bin.

Not only that, but she had also peeled some apples and placed them on the

table. Her demeanor resembled that of a well-mannered daughter from an

ordinary family rather than that of a wealthy heiress.

“Mackenzie, we’re leaving now. Make sure to get some rest early!” After

dinner, Felicity prepared to take her leave.

Emmanuel was taken aback. He had anticipated a challenging task during

Felicity’s visit tonight and did not expect it to go so smoothly.

“Mother, won’t you stay a little longer?” He even considered inviting Felicity to

stay a while longer.

“No, thank you. My car is parked downstairs, and if I leave it there for too long,

I might end up with a parking ticket!” She insisted on leaving, knowing that overstaying her welcome would likely

displease Mackenzie.

He was well aware of the constantly limited parking spaces in Yociam

Residence. Therefore, he did not continue with the formalities.

“Goodbye, Emmanuel!” Sarah also said her goodbyes but then turned back

and added, “By the way, are you interested in having a small rockery on your balcony? I happen to have a friend

who specializes in that!”
