Mommy for Billionaire's Baby -
Chapter 34 b
Tasya groaned in annoyance. While the man beside her couldn't stop the smile from his lips. He tapped the steering wheel lightly while whistling. Tasya knew what made him so delighted. Well, of course! How could he not be happy when, in reality, Tasya lost the debate? Even though she had originally intended to go home just to make sure that everything she had left behind was in normal condition.
It could be because she had been hospitalized for two days, suddenly hit by a whirlwind of emotions.
"Did your smile vanish?" Nathan asked with a mischievous grin.
"Talking to you just makes my heartache not go away." Tasya chose to lean back and simply close her eyes. She didn't care if she was seen as a disrespectful assistant to her boss. But... wasn't their relationship now more than that? Wasn't there some progress? Especially after last night... Oh my God! Why was Tasya thinking about how Nathan would kiss her? No, that had to be pushed aside immediately. It was better to let her memory recall last night's conversation.
"I can categorize Faldom as stable, Tasya. Despite this incident, once everything is settled, there won't be any problems that can bankrupt the company. The project in Sidoarjo is running smoothly as far as I know. Right?" That was true, which is why Tasya nodded in understanding.
"My work plan for the next year is well-organized. I've calculated several projects that can boost Faldom's dividends. I'm also considering partnerships with some parties."
"I know your work program for the next year." To Tasya, Nathan was amazing. Despite being shaken by many surprise inspections and continuous focus on Farhan's case, he never neglected his plans.
"Now," Nathan flicked his fingers with a much brighter gleam in his eyes. "My plan for the next year at Faldom is to replace the right person to replace me." "You want to resign?"
"Yes," Nathan said with a hearty laugh. "Faldom doesn't belong to me, Tasya."
Tasya knew a bit about this story. The story where a younger brother was forced to get involved in running a large company. Also becoming a sudden parent to a child whose fate he had once gambled with. A child he had saved back then. "I want to live the life I used to have," Nathan left a faint, meaningful smile there. And only in front of Tasya did he give a smile and a glimpse of his future. "I'm tired of Faldom, Tasya."
"What do you want to do then?"
"Many things," Nathan considered for a moment. "Blogging, traveling, reviewing international destinations, or business consulting services?"
"You've already prepared, huh?" Tasya chuckled. For some reason, her hand reached out to touch the edge of Nathan's hair. Making the man lock his gaze onto her. But this time, Tasya didn't want to run away. She preferred to enjoy how Nathan's dark eyes drowned her.
"Because I feel like my world is suffocating when I'm in Faldom, Tasya."
Those words left Tasya speechless.
"Before Faldom, I was free. I used to live life on my terms, wherever I wanted to go. Bangladesh, Vietnam, Pyongyang, China, Papua, Tibet - I visited them all. Not to mention the ocean that called me to explore its depths. During college breaks, I'd at least go diving with the community. Meeting whales, sharks, Kalimanta."
Tasya had often heard Nathan elaborate on work plans and project negotiations, but she had never seen the sparkle he now enjoyed. It was as if what Nathan was saying was worth billions of rupiah. He seemed infinitely happy talking about his past life.
"I've told you many times that everyone around me now is just consolation. When you came back, I, who had already indulged in this fun, couldn't just stop."
Tasya sighed. "You've only just stopped, though, right?"
"But, you know, I'm really serious about this, Tasya." Nathan sighed softly. His tone lost its enthusiasm. His face contorted with a sorrowful expression, pleading for Tasya's understanding. "Well... I didn't get pregnant, at least."
Clearly, that statement made Tasya reflexively hit Nathan's shoulder. Quite hard, in fact, causing the man to groan in pain. But afterward, he burst into laughter. Fortunately, this hospital room was intended for Tasya alone, ensuring her privacy. Amidst her laughter, Nathan said, "You also know what I did with those women, right?"
Tasya pouted.
"Anyway," Nathan's hand, which had momentarily released its grip on Tasya, found its way back to hers. "You know the worst side of me, but I swear, my love is only for you." He mustered the courage to plant an affectionate kiss right on Tasya's slender hand.
In his heart, he promised that at least for one or two months ahead, Tasya's weight would increase slightly. So it wouldn't feel like hugging a skeleton. But Nathan wouldn't voice this desire. He didn't want to risk shattering the romantic atmosphere that rarely occurred between them.
Nathan wouldn't take that risk!
"Isn't it because you felt sorry for being proposed to by a high school kid?" Tasya observed Nathan's every move tonight with a pounding heart.
Nathan shook his head firmly. "A high school kid with an immense sense of caring. Her sincerity is priceless. Even now, Naina can't stay away from you, right? Naina is innocent, albeit annoying, Tasya. Her heart is still pure and can't be deceived. She knows what's genuine and what's fake."
Tasya agreed with that statement.
"If you think it's just out of gratitude, I deny it. I truly fell in love with you. Just like I've been saying all this time. It's you I love. No other woman has a place in my heart."
"Can I be proud of this?" Tasya playfully glanced at Nathan, who couldn't stop staring at her. But rest assured, Tasya did all of this to hide her nervousness.
"Not proud, but accept my feelings. Let's prepare for the wedding. Then I'll resign from Faldom. We'll travel the world."
"What about Naina?"
"She's coming along, of course. The only thing that makes me able to keep Faldom going is Naina. If my sister hadn't left a child, I consider my own, I wouldn't care about Faldom. I'd rather meet the Pope of Sperm." Tasya burst into laughter. "I really didn't know this side of you, Nathan."
"There's still more you need to know." Nathan smiled broadly. "But we have to get married first."
Tasya furrowed her brow. "What do you mean?"
"You don't have to think that far ahead. Just relax. Enjoy it." Nathan grinned. "Hopefully, tomorrow's meeting goes smoothly. The meeting where all divisions related to many developments that I..."
"But you're amazing. You put your heart into it and don't mess around focusing on building Faldom." Again, Tasya touched the edge of Nathan's forehead. She caressed it so gently that the owner of those deep black eyes closed them. Savoring what they had just done.
"Nevertheless, Faldom was built through the hard work of Noah and Jannet. It might not have been for me, but for Naina. Still, I can't take everything lightly." Nathan spoke with his eyes closed. "Besides, God knows best how to bring us back together, right?"
For this statement, Tasya could only chuckle. Just as she was about to stop rubbing Nathan's head, he held her back.
"Don't stop."
"Being spoiled," Tasya teased but didn't refuse. Instead, she helped Nathan recline on a pillow she had placed on his thighs.
"It's not a big deal to be spoiled by your future wife."
"When did you propose to me?"
"Since earlier?" Nathan was taken aback. "I've been saying 'I love you,' asking you to marry me, and talking about the future and what I want to do with you. Didn't you notice?"
Remembering Nathan's words and the funny look on his face, which Tasya found cute, made her laugh again. Just like now.
"What are you laughing at, Tasya?" Nathan asked, puzzled by Tasya's change in attitude this time. Initially, she had been sulking and unwilling when she came to Nathan's house. His mother had made a special soup for Tasya, and Naina wanted to meet her. Besides, Nathan was sure that if Tasya returned home, she wouldn't be able to rest peacefully.
Lying so that Tasya would visit his house... that wasn't wrong, was it?
"Nothing," Tasya quickly straightened her back.
"Why don't I believe you?"
"Believing in me is a sin against God, Nathan."
"Tasya!"
