Mr. Poker Face’s Sweetheart By Lee Dubois -
Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Giselle Ostry entered the company in the blazing sun. The security guard downstairs greeted her with a smile. “Back from your business trip?”
Giselle nodded and grinned, with a dash of joy welling up in her beautiful eyes. “Yeah. I came back earlier”
Seeing Giselle’s lovely figure in turquoise disappear into the elevator, the security guard couldn’t help but mutter to his new colleague, “I don’t know why such a lovely girl chose to date that scumbag…..
Giselle didn’t hear what the security guard said about her. Soon, she went upstairs and stepped out of the elevator.
Today was the birthday of Giselle’s leader, Mickey Blake, who was also her boyfriend.
Giselle was supposed to accompany an Internet celebrity to perform on a week–long tour in a faraway city.
But now, Giselle spent her precious day off by flying back to her city, only wishing to have a meal with Mickey after he got off work. Then, she would be back on her business trip again.
Giselle pictured many scenes about how Mickey would react when she suddenly showed up. However, as soon as Giselle saw Mickey, their surprising reunion turned into a tremendous shock.
“I’ll treat everyone to a seafood buffet tonight! Have fun!” A man said generously while holding a delicate woman’s shoulder. Giselle immediately noticed that this man was actually Mickey.
“Giselle ”
“Giselle? Why are you back?”
Giselle’s sudden return instantly brought awkwardness and astonishment to her colleague’s faces.
Mickey heard them and turned around. His pupils shrank, and he asked in disbelief, “Why did you come back?”
Giselle walked toward Mickey charmingly. Her gaze swept from his dumbstruck look to the slightly smug one of the delicate woman, who was still in Mickey’s arms.
Giselle’s red lips curled into a smile. She said, “Good for you, Mickey. You have another girlfriend in the company, and you even let all the colleagues keep this secret from me. What a shame that you didn’t get a reward for such a performance!”
“I…” Being ridiculed in public, Mickey’s face became stormy. He said, “Giselle, I meant to tell you about this after you came back. But now, since you’re already here…”
Mickey tightly hugged Jenny Clarks, the new employee who joined the company last month.
Then, he said ruthlessly, “I’ll put it bluntly. I didn’t tell you before because I feared you might threaten and bug me, but I don’t like you anymore. From now on, Jenny will be my new girlfriend.”
Jenny nestled in Mickey’s arms and said softly, “I’m sorry, Giselle. I didn’t mean to withhold this from you. You might be devastated…”
Although Jenny apologized, there was no guilt in her eyes.
“No wonder you bastards are a couple. Your words are as shameless as your behavior.”
Giselle glanced at everyone coldly and sneered at Mickey. “Before we started dating, you begged me to be your girlfriend. Do you think I’ll beg you to come back to me? Don’t be ridiculous!”
Under all kinds of surprising gazes, Giselle straightened her back and left the company with her last bit of dignity and pride.
Before Giselle left the building, the security guard looked at her commiseratingly. “Miss, do you know that your boyfriend…
Giselle laughed at herself, saying, “It seems that I’m the only one who has been kept in ignorance. How could I be so stupid!”
“Giselle, wait!”
Giselle went stiff when she heard the call.
She flipped her hair and turned around, and her lips curled into a charming smile. “Jenny, are you here to show off your victory? You can have Mickey if you want. I assure you that I’ll never feel sad about it.”
Jenny tore off her delicate mask, her eyes filled with arrogance and disdain. “No matter how much you pretend you don’t care, Mickey is already mine. I vowed to win his heart on my first day of work!”
“So? What you had tried so hard to get was just a piece of trash that I threw away!”
“You!” Jenny was almost suffocated by Giselle’s words. But soon, Jenny’s tone became sympathetic. “You’d better leave this company as soon as possible. You don’t belong here anymore.”
Giselle couldn’t feel more disgusted when she remembered that she had taken great care of Jenny when the latter was still a newcomer.
Chapter 1
Giselle raised her chin and said flatly, “I’m the vice director of the agent department. Do you think you’re qualified to sack me?”
And then Giselle turned to stride away, ignoring Jenny’s annoyed and furious look.
Giselle had gone far away before she glanced at the blazing sun to force back the urge to cry.
It was worthless to feel sad for a scumbag. Besides, Giselle’s job was still unfinished. Now, she had to go back and get prepared for tomorrow’s show.
Mickey and Jenny wanted Giselle out of the company, but Giselle would never let their shameless dream come true!
When Giselle was about to take a taxi to the airport, her mother called her from home.
“Mom? What’s wrong?”
“Giselle, you’re not a kid anymore. It’s time to consider getting married…”
Marie Ostry said hesitantly, “I have a friend who works as a nanny in Reywing. Her colleague has a son who works in an insurance company. Are you free today? Go to meet him and…”
“So you’re asking me to go on a blind date.”
Giselle had never told Marie that she was seeing someone. She planned to tell her parents about her relationship with Mickey when the time was right. But now, there was no need to mention it.
“No, it’s not a date. You only need to meet him and… see what will happen.”
Giselle would definitely turn down Marie’s request if it were in the past.
But now, Giselle had just become single again. She knew she should move on instead of feeling heartbroken for that scumbag-
Giselle decided to meet this man to distract her attention. Anyway, she still had plenty of time to kill before her flight took off.
“Okay, Mom. I’m free right now.”
An hour later, Giselle arrived at a café downtown.
She nestled slouchingly on the sofa. Her brows were neat and gentle, with a hint of charm and femininity.
By sitting there alone, Giselle became the most lovely and graceful scenery of this café.
However, the thoughts running around her mind were not as graceful as she seemed.
“How did my mother describe my date just now?” Giselle thought.
Marie seemed to have said that this man came from an ordinary family and worked in an insurance company. She didn’t describe his appearance, so Giselle thought he might not be good–looking.
Giselle suddenly regretted her impulsive decision because she was only interested in handsome men. She agreed to be Mickey’s girlfriend because he was strapping and quite good–looking.
Even though Giselle had dated Mickey for a year, they never brought their relationship to the next stage. Giselle wanted to keep Mickey around with all her affection, but…
Suddenly, a pair of leather shoes came into her sight. Those faintly carved patterns made them seem delicate and luxurious.
Giselle gradually looked up, then saw a pair of suit pants of fine material and perfect length.
Finally, Giselle came back to her senses and looked at the man in front of her..
Countless words instantly swarmed into her mind, making it so chaotic that Giselle couldn’t even catch a proper one to describe this man.
A well–made suit covered his robust figure. His shoulders were broad, but his waist was slender, and he seemed colder than a snowstorm in winter.
The man had a sharp and thuggish look, with manly and unconcealed fierceness written all over his face.
“Wow! A gangster in a suit!” Giselle exclaimed secretly.
Then, for no reason at all, she blurted out, “I didn’t expect an insurance company to provide you with such a suitable uniform!”
