My Ex-husband Begs Me Back
Chapter 909: Why Bother

Chapter 909: Why Bother

Sienna nodded, instantly feeling motivated, but she didn't forget to giveRex a call.

Sienna was brimming with excitement, and as Camille drove, she casta glance at her. "You seem pretty excited?"

“It's nothing, really. Just average excitement, nothing too special,”Sienna laughed, covering her face. Camille didn't bother engaging withher drama.

Half an hour later...

In the bustling heart of Hance City's Sleepless Town, Camille andSienna parked their car and got out, hand in hand, walking through thegates. A handsome young man, dressed in a suit, approached themwith a smile. "Welcome, ladies. Would you prefer a quiet spot or a livelyone?"

"We'll take a private room," Sienna replied in a hushed tone.

They were led to a private room, barely seated before several moreyoung men entered.

Sienna was really sociable; these guys were all university studentsworking part-time here and selling wine.

Being kind, Sienna and Camille ordered quite a bit, though theycouldn't possibly consume it all. They decided to share their drinks withthose guys.

As the conversation flowed naturally and without any disturbances, thedoor to their private room suddenly swung open.

Conversation halted, and all eyes turned to the doorway.

Two men in suits walked in, their expressions dark and intense. Theirdeep gazes fixed on the two women seated on the couch, surroundedby the young men.

The manager of Sleepless Town followed, gesturing as he shooed theyoung men away. Then, with a forced smile, he turned to the twonewcomers. "Mr. Simpson, Mr. Baxter, we weren't aware your wiveswere coming, so..."

"Leave," Rex said coolly.

The manager nodded frantically and wiped his brow before quicklyleaving the room.

He even made sure to close the door properly. If anyone found outabout this, it could become tomorrow's headline: "Wives of SimpsonGroup and Ward Group CEOs Sneak Out for Drinks and Chat withYoung Men?"

His job might not last long if this got out.

He went on to instruct the young men not to talk about this and evenhanded them some hush money. As university students, they wouldn'tdare to blab.

The atmosphere in the private room shifted from lively to almost silent, the sound of a pin dropping audible.

The two men sat down on the couch, one on either side, keeping aconsiderable distance from the women in the middle.

Camille exchanged a glance with Sienna, eyes flickering as if saying,"What do we do now?"

Camille remained remarkably composed, showing no significantreaction. They hadn't done anything wrong, just came here for a chatand drinks. Aren't they often doing the same?

However, compared to Camille's composure, Sienna seemed muchmore flustered. Sienna was a classic example of being bothinexperienced but playful. She gave a faint smile and glanced at Rex,saying softly, "Why did you guys come?"

Rex let out a light snort and replied indifferently, "You two keepdrinking, don't be polite. Feeling too quiet to drink? Should I go callthese men back for you?"

Given the tone, who would believe he wasn't annoyed?

Sienna fell silent instantly, holding her glass and obediently movingcloser to Camille. She murmured to Camille, "He's so fierce!"

Camille didn't react much, giving her a subtle glance. Her eyes seemedto convey a message: promising wholeheartedly to join in the fun, getting caught and then being scared out of her wits.

Sienna pressed her lips together, wanting to explain, but the direct gazefrom Rex left her unable to catch a breath. She could only offer a faintsmile towards Rex and softly suggest, "It's a bit stuffy here. How aboutwe go somewhere else to talk?"

Rex snorted again, his tone still unenthusiastic. "Stuffy? Is it becauseyou're feeling stuffy, or is it because there's no one here to entertainyou?"

"I didn't mean that. I just thought you might be uncomfortable here.""Perhaps it's us who make you feel uncomfortable.”

"How could that be?" Sienna shifted her body, inching closer to Rex bitby bit. She used gentle and coaxing words, trying to pacify him. ButRex remained displeased, repeatedly admonishing her in stern tonesnot to set foot in such places again.

Sienna raised her hand, making promises, and only then did thesituation seem temporarily smoothed over. Whether it would be broughtup again and again once they got home, only the bed would know.

In contrast to Sienna and Rex's interactions, the atmosphere betweenCamille and Ayan was much quieter.

Ayan glanced at his watch and then at Camille. Seeing that she wasn'tindicating any intention of drinking, he asked in a soft voice, "Do youwant to keep playing or head home?"

His voice was gentle, nothing like a husband catching his wife sneakingaround behind his back. Instead, he sounded like a husband who wasindulging his wife's playfulness and was worried she might get tiredfrom driving home alone, so he came to pick her up.

Camille's lips tightened, and she replied calmly, "Let's go home."

She stood up before he did, and he followed suit, naturally taking herhand. Then he glanced at Rex and said, "We're heading back."

With that, the two of them left the room.

Sienna and Rex were left momentarily stunned. Sienna gazed at Rex indisbelief. "Isn't Ayan angry at all?"

"How could he be? He didn't say a word the entire way here, his faceas dark as coal. He's probably going to be angry once they're home.""Should we follow them and see?"

"You're delusional.” Rex snorted and grabbed Sienna's wrist, leadingher out.

Camille and Ayan were already sitting in the car, and Kian was driving. The atmosphere inside was quiet, so quiet that they could hear eachother's breathing.

Yes, it wasn't an exaggeration at all.

The silence continued until they hit a red light and had to stop. Ayan'svoice broke the silence, and he asked, "Why did you suddenly go toSleepless Town tonight?"

Kian, at the wheel, kept quiet, not wanting to get involved in the maritalspat.

Camille's gaze remained fixed outside the window, her expressionunchanged. She spoke in a soft, calm tone, "I was just bored, so I wentthere."

Ayan's eyebrows furrowed deeply upon hearing her reply. His voicegrew lower as he said, "Is it because you were upset with me at homethat you decided to make me angry by going to such a place?"

"You're overthinking it." Camille didn't mention it was Sienna’s idea, asshe had agreed to it, then she would take responsibility as well. Afterall, they hadn't done anything out of the ordinary — just had a drink, chatted, and that was it.

After Camille spoke, silence returned to the car.

Upon returning to Maple Leaves Mansion, they got out of the car oneby one and took the elevator back to their apartment.

Camille input the password and opened the door. She had barelystepped inside the entrance, still changing her shoes, when a forcepressed her against the wall. The man's dark eyes were deep andenigmatic, his voice rough as he asked, "What exactly are youdissatisfied with? Or do you need to make me angry to feel happy?"Unbeknownst to Camille, she had been discreetly followed by someonefrom Maple Leaves Mansion. When she and Sienna drove to SleeplessTown, he was about to explode with anger.

Though he knew nothing would happen, Sleepless Town was the mostextravagant and debauched place in all of Hance City. Some thingswere best left in the shadows. Even for men like him and Rex, theywould only go there for specific contracts that required the assistanceof alcohol and women to fulfill.

Compared to his escalating emotions, Camille remained composed. She met his eyes, her voice calm as she replied, "I just went for a drink. Why bother getting angry?"
