My Ex-husband Begs Me Back
Chapter 910: Explanation

Chapter 910: Explanation

Her indifference and a tone that seemed to ask, "Isn't this a trivialmatter? Why get angry?" made Ayan's expression even moreunpleasant.

He looked at her, a faint trace of anger passing through his eyes, though not overtly displayed. His voice remained hoarse as he said,"Just drinking? Camille, in a private room with only you and Sienna, surrounded by other guys. Is that not worth being upset over? Do youthink I should foot the bill for both of you to have a good time?"

The more Ayan spoke, the more his anger seemed to rise, and heended up chuckling in exasperation.

A subtle curve appeared on his thin lips, and his deep gaze retained acold, distant chill. He locked eyes with Camille, the tense silencebetween them punctuated only by her raspy voice, "Then how aboutthat you secretly went to the airport to pick up Eileen? In comparison,do you think what I did would make you angry, or what you did wouldmake me angrier?"

Camille slightly narrowed her eyes, her expression on her facerevealing a hint of coolness. She spoke in a calm and composed voice,"You hid things from me. How did you respond when I asked you?Ayan, I gave you a chance, but you didn't take it."

Camille raised her hand to gently push Ayan away and put on herslippers. She walked into the living room and took a seat on the sofa. The night seemed unusually quiet, a quietness that began to feelstifling.

Ayan's face remained stern, and his gaze held a distant intensity. Helocked eyes with Camille, his voice slightly mellowing as he continued,“I can explain.”

She didn't respond, her gaze warm and calm as she looked directly athim. He said, "Eileen did come back, and I did go pick her up. I've toldyou about her situation. The reason I haven't confronted her directly isthat she and Preston share a common goal. I want to know what thatgoal is."

“It has nothing to do with me. All I know is that Grandma's death isrelated to Eileen. She went to the hospital, that's an undeniable fact.Although I haven't figured out who made her do this or what otherreasons might be behind it, if you continue to defend her, I don't thinkwe have much to discuss between us,” Camille said, her tone stilldevoid of any emotional excitement, as if she were discussing anordinary matter.

Ayan paused slightly, raising his gaze. He continued, "Nothing todiscuss? You still think I'm defending Eileen? What do I need to do foryou to believe me? Don't we have even the basic level of trust betweenus?"

Camille's gaze hardened for a moment, her voice indifferent. "It'sbecause you don't make me trust you."

Camille's stance was firm, indicating that she wasn't willing to let thismatter slide with just a couple of explanations.

He reached out and held Camille's hand, speaking softly, "Alright, Iadmit I overlooked this matter. Can I make it up to you now?"

She remained silent.

He continued, "Eileen’s sudden return probably has something to dowith Preston. As for her intentions this time, I don't know yet. Currently, the only information I have is that she called after returning, specificallyon the evening we had dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Bell."

Actually, he didn't need to say it for Camille had already guessed it out. However, for Camille, she hoped Ayan, as her partner, could be morecandid, without anything hidden from her.

She took a quiet breath, her expression still detached. She said,"Eileen’s business with me, I hope you won't get involved. No matterwhat the reason, I won't accept it. Now that she's back, I don't need tolook so far ahead. If things aren't clarified, I won't give up.”

Perhaps others might feel that with the passage of time, certain matterswould fade away, but for some things, they could never be erased nomatter how many years went by.

Ayan fell into silence, his eyes fixedly staring at her. His thin lips curvedslightly, and his handsome face carried a profound sense of gravity.Camille lightly bit her lip, her tone frosty, “Do you have anything to say?Or do you have no intention of doing as I suggested? I don't care howyou plan to use Eileen, but I won't stand idly by while she continues toact arrogantly in front of me."

Having said her piece, she stood up and walked toward the bedroom. As she was about to enter the hallway leading to the bedroom, shesuddenly stopped in her tracks. Without turning back, she uttered,"Ayan, you have your boundaries, but I have mine too. I can let youhandle Cora because she harmed not just me but also the Simpsons. As long as you feel your actions are enough to punish her, that'ssufficient. But Eileen harmed the most important person to me, and Ican't do nothing about it."

With that, she resumed walking and entered the bedroom.

Camille's words fully conveyed her inner thoughts. Her frankness andunyielding determination clearly revealed how much the matterconcerning Eileen meant to her.

As for Eileen's situation, they had discussed it recently. If Eileen trulywas Preston's sibling, then Ayan wouldn't spare her. After all, Eileenand Preston were allies. However, now that Eileen had unexpectedlyreturned and maintained communication with Ayan, Camille found itdifficult to comprehend and remained puzzled by the situation.

Thus, Camille aimed to communicate clearly with Ayan. Due to hergrandmother's case, she couldn't pretend she was unaware of hisconnection with Eileen. She needed to use her recent attitude to remindAyan not to forget the link between her grandmother's death andEileen.

Camille took a deep breath and, after showering, lay down.

It was already late into the night, and Camille had no sleepiness. Butwhen she heard the sound of the bedroom door opening, sheimmediately closed her eyes, feigning sleep.

Ayan entered the bedroom, looking at the slightly raised portion of thebed. His expression was heavy, his brows slightly furrowed. He stoodthere for almost half a minute before eventually heading to thebathroom to freshen up.

That night, both were lost in their thoughts, and neither slept well.

The following morning, Camille woke up to replace that Ayan had alreadyleft for work.

Seemingly aware that Camille wasn't too keen on having breakfasttogether, he had left her breakfast prepared before heading out.

At the office, Ayan immediately called for Kian, his voice low andserious, "Has there been any movement from Eileen these past coupleof days?"

Kian shook his head, saying, "She's stayed at the hotel. She called metwice, wanting to have a meal with you. I turned her down, with theexcuse of your busy work schedule and commitments.”

Ayan's expression remained unchanged, his deep gaze shrouded indarkness, an icy coldness lurking within. He looked at Kian and said, “Ifshe wants to meet me, invite her to the office.”

Kian hesitated for a moment, not entirely understanding Ayan'sintentions, but he nodded in agreement.

Subsequently, Kian reported on the situation with Quintus, saying,"After leaving home with Cora, Quintus checked into a hotel in town, where they've been staying. They haven't shown any other intentions. It's unclear what he's up to."

Ayan furrowed his brows, his thin lips pressed into a straight line. Aftera few seconds of contemplation, he spoke, his tone casual, "Since he'snot planning to do anything, let's give him something to do. Being thisidle seems far too easy."

Kian appeared puzzled, looking at Ayan. "Mr. Simpson, what should wedo then?"
