“Umm… did I tell you that I asked him to do a background check on you just after you all of a sudden asked me to become your mate officially?” Caroline finished with a cute pout on her lips. Colton observed Artemis’s expression, who was not looking mad at Caroline, maybe because he would have done the same.

After a minute of staring game, Artemis started leaning toward Caroline.

“Ahem, Ahem!! I’m here.” Colton reminded them. “And you… you just can’t k**s my sister openly in front of me.” He added, glaring at his brother-in-law.

“Oh, okay!” Artemis didn’t argue again.

“So, In which hotel you’re staying?” Caroline asked to kick the third wheel after dinner.

“Sorry to disappoint you, my sister!! But I’m staying here with you and my BIL. And I’m not returning home without you because I’m afraid to say, seeing me alone, our dad will be the next to land here.” Colton said in a sarcastic tone. “So, my dear brother-in-law, try to sort all the issues that are going on in the company so that you can at least take seven days’ leave before meeting your in-laws.”

‘Tell me that your room is soundproof.’ Caroline talked through the mind link.

‘Yes, it is.’

Caroline sighed in relief hearing that because neither she was expecting Colton to stay with them nor expecting him to stay in Rome for that long.

“What have you told dad before coming here? I mean, are you planning to stay here for a week longer for some work?” Caroline asked because she knew Colton didn’t like wasting time roaming here and there.

“Three things. First, that you’re here, second for investment purpose if any, and third….” Colton didn’t complete it; he just played with his ring.

“I don’t think there are vampires around us, so I don’t think you… You have to use your… weapon.” Artemis said.

“Well, there’s nothing wrong in checking when I’m already here,” Colton said. “By the way, I was just kidding about my plan about staying here all the time. I won’t be here during the night because of my hunting job.” Artemis couldn’t help but start belly dance in his mind.

“BIL, book the best suite for me in one of your hotels where I can stay at night. And yes, my details shouldn’t be revealed in that way. You can book it in your name or Sarah’s name.”

“Consider it done,” Artemis assured him.

“Already taking advantage of your BIL who is in the hospitality industry.” Caroline pointed out, on which Colton shrugged his shoulder. He always faced getting a room in the hotel with a fake name whenever he used to visit anywhere with work other than business purposes. So, Caroline was right about using Artemis’s source; in this way, he wouldn’t have to adjust in some cheap motel. Unlike Caroline, Colton didn’t have a habit of showing himself as NOBODY.

“So? Is there any problem, BIL?” Colton asked Artemis’ arching his eyebrow.

“No. It’s not.” Artemis replied with a smile. But deep down, he was nervous and tensed because he had a lot of things going on in the company. Hell, he even knew that Santino and his people were planning to throw him out of the Board of Directors.

‘I can’t leave here without clearing this issue. Her father might give preference to me with the thought that she loves me, but I have to at least show him that I’m a deserving person for his princess even though I’m not an Alpha or rich like him.’

‘Does that include that you have to spend more time with work rather than our mate?’ Bolt asked.

‘Umm.. yeah!!’

‘I already started hating this idea.’ Bolt mumbled.

“So, you know about the woman who gave birth to me?” Artemis asked once Colton left after having dinner for his work.

“Umm… yeah!!” Caroline replied and prepared milk for her.

Tonight, dinner was prepared was Colton and Artemis, giving Caroline rest like a princess and queen. Artemis was amazed to see that Colton was good at cooking; of course, his speed and his ways were not like a chef, but he definitely knew what he was preparing. Caroline had once told him that Sunday was a rest day for her mother in her room. That was why her father and all her siblings used to treat her mother as queen on that day, taking a break from their work and studies to thank her for every little thing she had done for them without letting them know.

This was the reason everyone knew households work.

“I’m sorry for not telling you about her, YET. Actually, she isn’t that important person in my life.” Artemis muttered, hugging her from behind.

“It’s okay. I’m not complaining about that part. Tell me about her only when you want, or you can escape telling anything about her if she is not an important topic.” Caroline replied and picked up the glass to drink the milk. She gasped when she felt something hard against the crack of her butt.

“Hon, I thought you were tensed because of work.” She added. Artemis placed his chin on her shoulder and kissed the slope of her neck.

“Making love releases a lot of stress. So, help me. Pleasseee.” Artemis whispered. Caroline smiled and finished her milk silently first.

“Only at one condition.” She said after finishing her milk.

“What condition?”

“You have to teach me whatever you know.” Caroline kept her condition, and in the next moment, she cried in shock when Artemis picked her in his arms all of a sudden.
