It was pointless to stop Valerie from talking to me. She would either tell me ways to eat healthily or ways to take care of Anne.

Valerie disregarded my indifference. She even ignored my cold treatment towards her.

I stopped talking half an hour later. She made breakfast and told me to eat while it was still hot.

Then, she instructed midwives, "Please clean up the house."

After talking to the midwives, she turned to me and said, "Eat food with higher protein as you are breastfeeding now."

Hendrix saw a few people in the villa when he woke up. He frowned slightly and asked, "What's going on?"

Valerie answered him, "I brought the midwives here to take care of Anne so that both of you can rest at night. You should have enough sleep to do your work. Hendrix looked at the two midwives who were busy cleaning the villa. He did not say much.

He said to Valerie," Much appreciated, Valerie." "Don't mention it. It's what I should do!" Valerie was exceptionally happy when Hendrix accepted her proposal.

Then she asked Hendrix to taste the breakfast she made. I was a little confused. Hendrix did not seem to be annoyed or irritated with Valerie.

Valerie was in the villa the whole morning. She would instruct the midwives to clean the house and played with Anne in the baby room.

Hendrix was busy with his work. I went to his study room and sat down even if I had nothing to do.

"What's the matter?" Hendrix turned his head around asking as he saw me sitting in the study room.

I put down the book and look at him. Then I asked, "Do you think there's something wrong with Valerie lately?"

Hendrix asked while reading through the documents on his computer, "What's wrong with her?"

"Why did she suddenly ask us for dinner at Pearis Manor? Why did she come to our house so early in the morning to clean things up? Moreover, she even sent us two midwives and personally made us breakfast. Under normal circumstances, a normal friend would not do such things!"

He put down his work and walked towards me, got down on one knee. With a light smile, he asked, "Is it not a good thing?"

I shook my head, "No!"

He kissed my hand and asked, "Maybe she just wanted to make it up to you?"

"She's feeling apologetic?" I was speechless. "If she had felt guilty, she wouldn't have done those things before."

I looked at him and said with a serious tone, "Hendrix, I don't care. You have to replace a way to stop her from coming to our house. Also, we should take Anne with us to visit your grandfather, my grandmother, and Monique this New Year."

He got up and pulled me into his arms, "Well, it's time to see them, but we cannot bring Anne. She is still too young to go to the cemetery," Hendrix explained with his deep low voice.

I thought for a while and agreed with Hendrix's suggestion, "Well, when are we going?" I asked.

"Tomorrow!" he answered. He lowered his head and kissed me on the lips.

Valerie happened to enter the study room with Anne. She snorted and grinned, "It seems that it's not the right time for us to come here. You two carry on. I'll take little Anne downstairs for a walk." Hendrix looked up and asked her calmly, "Is Anne hungry?"

Valerie nodded and answered with a smile, "She has been whining, refusing to drink the formula. I brought her up because I think she wanted breast milk."

Hendrix took Anne from Valerie and handed her to me, "Go feed Anne."

He then left the study room with Valerie.

I always felt that Hendrix was hiding something from me, but I couldn't figure out what it was at the moment.
