The kindergarten gate opened and the teacher stood by, watching the children leave their classes and go to their guardians. Anne and Bennett were in the same class. When the two children saw us, they smiled brightly.

Anne stared at me and shouted, "Mom!" After a pause, she looked up at her teacher and told her, "Miss Sunny, my mom and Bennett's dad are here. We're going now. Bye."

As she said that, the little fellow dragged Bennett along and ran toward us.

Anne said while hugging me, "Mom, I've invited Bennett to come to our house for dinner today. We've praised your cooking skills."

After a pause, she lowered her voice and whispered, "You can't embarrass me!"

I laughed helplessly and glanced at Bennett. "Bennett, is it alright for us to have dinner together today?"

This child didn't talk much as he was an introvert. He held Norman's fingers tightly and looked up at Anne who was in my arms. Soon, he nodded and agreed, "Okay. Thank you, Madam Reid!" "Let's go!" I exclaimed.

After returning to the courtyard, Anne and Bennett went to the backyard to pick a melon while Norman drove out to buy some seafood.

I washed the vegetables in the kitchen and started the fire.

This is how my life was now. After four years, I would usually cook by myself and used different ways to make delicious food for Anne in order to make her healthier.

After a long time, I had picked up on some good cooking skills. After washing the vegetables, Anne and Bennett returned with some freshly picked vegetables.

The two little fellows each carried a small basket. Bennett's basket was fully filled; the melon looked like it was about to fall out.

There were some beans in Anne's basket. It seemed like she had followed Bennett to the backyard and picked them.

"Mom, we're back!" She said as she lounged the basket around with some mud on her tiny face.

Looking at the sweat on Bennett's tiny face, I took the basket quickly and wiped the sweat from his forehead. I said helplessly, "Next time, give some of it to her. Don't carry it alone!" The little fellow smiled. Looking dotingly at Anne, he muttered, "She's still young, she can't lift it!"

"Right, Mom. I'm weak and out of strength, so I asked Bennett to help me!" She was so shameless. I suspected that she had learned this from lan.

I glared at her and said angrily, "Next time, if you continue to bully Bennett like this, you will water the vegetables in the backyard all by yourself." She pouted. "Fine, I'll water it. I won't be doing it alone anyway."

This kid had me speechless.

Every time she was punished, Bennett would come to help her. Soon, she learned to be naughty and I couldn't do much about it.

Norman then came back with two crucian carps and some crayfish.

Anne was brave. She quickly grabbed a seafood and tried to scare Bennett by chasing after him with it in her hand.

The two children were now playing in the yard. Norman took the basket from me and said, "I'll wash the vegetables. The fish scales have been removed, so you can just put them into the pot." I nodded.

Anne and Bennett were probably hungry. They surrounded the stove and looked up at me while taking in the smell of cooked food.

"You two little pigs, go get the bowls and tableware. Let's prepare to eat!" Norman told the kids as he put the washed vegetables beside me.

Usually, Bennett would get the bowls and tableware while Anne would continue standing by my side, waiting for me.

Norman carried her aside and instructed her with a smile, "Anne, go and place the fruits on the table. We'll have dinner soon."

She nodded and looked up at me, "Mom, hurry up. I'm so hungry!"

I nodded and filled the bowl with food. Then, Norman brought it over to the table.

Looking at the two little fellows who were already waiting at the table, I couldn't help but laugh, "You guys eat first. I'll join you after I finish cooking the vegetable soup."

"Mom, well wait for you!" Anne yelled. Although they were hungry, they still looked at me, waiting for me to join them at the dining table.
