Quinton’s accusation was brimming with frustration, a kind of baseless rhetoric he was known never to indulge in. It presented clear proof that down in his heart, he harbored resentment towards Selina. “Besides, who does Selina think she is? Pretending to be just another face in the Harvey family, laughing as she watches us all dance to her tune. If only she had revealed herself sooner, wouldn’t all of this have been resolved by now?”
Ashley chimed in opportunistically. “Exactly! I’m also puzzled why Selina didn’t just tell us she’s Angel. I’m super proud to have such a capable sister!”
“Dad, it’s not like that. Selina is your own flesh and bloodt She shares the same Harvey bloodline. So what if Selina isn’t Angel Does she deserve the cold stares and the disregard we’ve shown her?” Manuel felt as if he’d been punched in the heart, the pain so intense he was almost suffocating. No wonder Selina loathed the Harveys, dreaming of marrying Trevon so she could flee and cut ties with them. The truth was bitter. The fault lay with them; their cruelty and indifference had wounded Selma deeply
“Manuel you…” Quinton was taken aback, not expecting Manuel to defend Selina like this, and his words struck a chord, leaving Quinton lost for words.
Seeing the family tension, Sara stepped in to mediate, “Manuel, you shouldn’t speak to your father like that. He’s just hot- headed right now. He didn’t mean it.”
“Mom, I know… of course, I do… because at first, I treated Selina the same way. She was right; if she weren’t Angel, I’d probably still be hating her, not even trying to understand her pain.” With self–mocking laughter, Manuel’s fists clenched so tight his nails almost drew blood from his palms, “We’ve hurt Selina so deeply, but I have to uncover the truth, to root out the menace within the Harveys, and to give Selina the closure she deserves!” With that, Manuel turned and walked away.
His words left a weird vibe hanging in the study. Ashley gritted her teeth in hatred–she thought that by driving Selina out of the Harvey Family, and turning them against Selina, Selina would never be able to come back and vie with Ashley for love and inheritance. But she hadn’t anticipated that Selina would thrive after leaving the Harveys, not only marrying billionaire Trevon, but also dropping the bombshell that she was the world–class celebrity, Angel. Now all eyes were on Selina, completely sidelining Ashley
Eventually, Quinton couldn’t help clear his throat. “Manuel is right. It’s unacceptable that someone with such malicious. intent was among us. We must investigate this thoroughly
Sara bit her lip; “Darling, let me handle this.”
“Mommy, I want to help too! With tears brimming, Ashley spoke up, “I always believed Selina wasn’t a thief, even when someone framed her time and again. I can’t forgive such villains!”
“Ashley… Sara’s heart was in turmoil. Indeed, Ashley had placed so much trust in Selina initially. They had doubted Selina because of her education, her background, and the fact she wasn’t raised with them–colored by their own prejudices. In contrast, Ashley’s affection for Selina was sincere. “Alright, let’s investigate this together!”
“Yeah! Mommy, I’ll do my best.” Staying close to Sara, Ashley could constantly monitor Sara’s investigation progress, ensuring she herself wouldn’t be caught.
Half a month had fluttered by in the blink of an eye. Life was peaceful.
Selina sat in the garden, gazing at the flower beds she had nurtured with her own hands, leisurely sipping her afternoon tea With no troublemakers coming to her door, Selina enjoyed a tranquil life, justified in her contentment. Her days were structured yet serene: fitness in the morning, tending to her garden in the afternoon, and spending evenings with Trevon. Occasionally, she’d hit the town for a shopping spree with Lydia and Nora. The days were unprecedentedly calm and felicitous, so much so that Selina found herself oddly out of sorts with the comfort. Selina set down her teacup and stretched languidly. With the garden tended to, it was about time for a nap
At that moment, Devin hurried over, a look of urgency on his face. “Mrs Brady, trouble’s brewing. The Hudsons have come.”

With a quiet sigh, Selina responds without surprise, “Is it Trevaris birth mother?”
“Yes, ma’am. The folks this time aren’t easy to handle. Should I inake an excuse that you’re not here?”
“Happiness or calamity, fate can’t be avoided forever. I knew they’d show up sooner or later. Hide? A momentary evasion. won’t last a lifetime. As Trevon’s wife, I must face them at some point, especially when my conscience is clean. Why should I hide from anyone? With that said, Selina turned and headed for the living room.
Devin, realizing further discussion was futile, promptly texted Trevon to hurry home, hoping to avert any problems.
Viola Hudson, in her designer attire, holding a Louis Vuitton bag, and a figure toned from years of yoga, is undeniably attractive. In her eyes, one can barely see shadows of Trevon; her face betrays none of her forty–odd years, seeming barely past thirty instead–youthful and polished.
With one glance, Selina knew she was definitely Trevon’s mother. Trevon’s eyebrows and eyes were inherited from Viola, while his nose and lips were from Samuel. The best of both parents‘ genes were clearly evident. For a son to be so infuriatingly handsome, his parents‘ genes surely couldn’t be far behind.
As Selina sized up Viola, Viola did the same. And she had to admit that Selina passed the beauty test with flying colors. Viola, being incredibly picky about looks, acknowledged only a few into her good graces, whether men or women. That Selina ranked highly signified her considerable appeal. But remembering Trevon’s identity, Viola shakes her head, pushing certain thoughts aside.
Selina steps forward, poised, and extends her hand, I’ve heard so much about you, Viola.”
But Viola didn’t accept the handshake, arms crossed, “Given you know who I am, you must also know I’m smart enough to figure out why I’m here.”
“You’re here to get to know Trevon’s wife better, from a mother’s point of view?” Selina innocently blinks.
Viola shakes her head, ‘Selina, you’re clever. No need to play dumb with me.”
Her smile not quite reaching her eyes, Selina retorted, “So you’re here because of the Hudson family matters?”
“That’s not it, silly!” Viola chides, shooting Selina a look. “Don’t you understand Trevon? He’s always been headstrong, and now that he’s the head honcho of the Brady family, he’s unstoppable. I may have given birth to him, but I didn’t raise him, It’d be odd if he listened to me.”
