Selina couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. It seemed that Viola wasn’t entirely clueless. She wasn’t here to create a scene over Hudson matters. It would be pointless–not to mention it could potentially incur Trevon’s displeasure and further strain the mother–son relationship.

Selina spoke coolly, “Since you’re not here about the Hudsons, nor to get to know me, I guess with the way you stormed in. you’re here to pick a fight with me.”

“Let’s not use such ugly wonds, Selina,” Viola retorted, “The things I’m about to say are hard truths, and you need to take them to heart.”

Confronted with Viola’s assertiveness, Selina shrugged, Tm all cars

“Truth be told. I divorced Trevon’s father when he was just a kid Viola squinted her eyes slightly. “Trevon is a Brady, and I couldn’t take him with me. I haven’t been there to give him the motherly companionship he needed as he grew up, but I trust my son’s judgment, and this time, I’m very disappointed.

Viola continued. “Maybe Trevon thinks he’s capable enough on his own, that he doesn’t need a power partnership and with your background, you’re not a match for him. To make it in the Sokovis elite, a pretty face just won’t cut it. I’m doing this for your own good. Staying by Trevon’s side will only hurt you in the long run. It’s better to take a generous sum of money and leave now, with your dignity intact.”

Viola had thought Trevon was just toying with Selina, replaceing a pretty trophy to marry and shut up the chatter. But Trevon’s bold move of ignoring Viola’s calls when she begged for mercy for Hudson, spoke volumes. Even if Madelyn and Christina had messed up beyond redemption, Trevon would still normally answer her calls, if only for explanations. It was clear that Selina held a far more significant place in Trevon’s heart than anyone could have suspected

Unfazed by Viola’s aggressive approach, Selina replied with nonchalant ease, “Viola, isn’t it tiring to stand and lecture? Have

Some tea

Viola, who’d sized up countless people over the years, recognized that Selina wasn’t faking her calm. Adhering to the principle of “no move is better than my opponent’s move until they act,” Viola sat down to join Selina for tea.

After sipping some floral tea, Selina pressed her lips together and said, “Now let me answer your question. My answer is No.”

Selina’s refusal didn’t surprise Viola. Nobody would easily give up the wealth of the Brady family, especially now that Selina had officially tied the knot with Trevon. With firm conviction, Viola said, “You’ll regret this

Curling her lips into a slight smile, Selina replied, “To be honest, when I heard you flew all the way back from overseas just to see me, I thought it was trouble. But looking at how things are going, maybe we could end up as in–laws who get along quite well”

Rolling her eyes, Viola retorted, “Dream on I might be Trevon’s biological mother, but he has a stepmother too. I get along with Samuel and Susie just fine. If you want a good relationship with your mother–in–law, get cozy with Susie. Don’t be like a manipulator, causing trouble and making me look bad to everyone.”

Viola and Samuel had called it quits on good terms, and after their split, Samuel married Susie. Given it was his second marriage and because Samuel’s family looked down on Susie, the wedding was a small affair with few guests. Viola was of them. When Viola tied the knot again, she invited Samuel and Susie to jet off abroad for the wedding–a move that had tongues wagging on Twitter, hailed as the talk of the town. It was almost unheard of–a pair of exes from wealthy families who could peacefully attend each other’s weddings, sending their best with no bad blood between them. Just like good friends, they kept things civil and it wasn’t just for show.

Selina propped her chin in her hands, eyes sparkling with mischief as she observed Viola, “You seem to have the about me, but I’ve got to say, I admire your straightforwardness.

All Selina had ever known about Viola were rumors, so meeting her in person and replaceing her to be open–minded and intriguing was a pleasant surprise, even if Viola’s impression of her boiled down to one word–annoying. It seemed not all

Hudsons were a pain to deal with.

Viola waved her off. “Don’t butter me up. I’m not buying it.”

Right then, hurried footsteps approached. “Mom!” Trevon was back, calling out Viola’s title but bee–lining straight for Selina. He exhaled in relief once he saw she was unharmed. Trevon knew that Selina could hold her own against anybody–she was an ultimate boss with many layers. He just worried she might pull her punches around Viola because of him.

You’re always by your wife’s side; you think I’m some wicked mother–in–law out to devour her alive? Seriously… A son grows up and then you’re nothing to him; his soul’s been snatched away by a woman.”

Viola’s eye roll could’ve reached heaven at that point, confirming her very prediction. Before returning, she couldn’t imagine her cold and indifferent son treasuring a woman so much. Witnessing it now, firsthand, proved that life was indeed full of surprises

Trevon pressed his lips together, “Mom, why didn’t you tell me you were coming? Coming straight to my wife, were you trying to stir up trouble?”

“Darn it, you brat… Viola was so close to ripping her shoe off and smacking Trevon with it. Her son, whose soul was stolen by a woman, had the gall to think that of his own mother.

“Not at all, honey. She was just looking out for me as an elder, wanting to get to know her daughter–in–law, Selina quickly played peacemaker. “I can tell she cares deeply about the harmony of our marriage. Don’t get it twisted. Now, apologize to her.”

Seeing the earnest look in Selina’s eyes and knowing her character–that not even Trevon’s own mother could bother Selina without consequences–he finally spoke up. “Mom, I apologize. I was just a bit rushed earlier. Don’t take it to heart”

Viola was speechless. Selina’s words now held more sway over Trevon than his own mother’s.

“Selina, don’t try flattering me. Think about what I said earlier. I’m heading out.”

Trevon stepped up, “Mom, won’t you stay for dinner?”

“Your act has already filled me up! Dinner my foot!” Viola stormed off clutching her bag.

Watching Viola’s retreating figure, Selina’s lips curled slightly, “Hubby, your mom is quite the character.”

“She’s always done as she pleases. Even as my mom, I never really got her. I just didn’t want her to hurt you. Babe, didn’t she say anything out of line while I was away?”

“Not at all… Just that I should divorce you soon, take a huge chunk of cash, and live the high life, set for generations. Selina playfully nudged Trevon’s chin, casing herself into his embrace. “Sounds tempting, doesn’t it? Hubby, if I divorced you, I could take half of those millions, right?”
