Chapter 30
Selina couldn’t help but be charmed by Nora’s genuine, bubbly grin—it was the real deal, not a hint of fakeness. She felt the good vibes coming off Nora and smiled back, grabbing her hand. “Hi there, Nora. Trevon’s mentioned you too, you know.”
Nora made a face. “As ift Trevon’s got a ton on his plate. He wouldn’t waste time talking about me.”
“He does talk about you, really, You’re his sister, he’s gotta care,” Selina reassured her, but her smile faded a bit as she remembered something. Once during dinner. Trevon had brought up Nora, and it was clear from the look in his eyes that it wasn’t just annoyance he felt–it was full of brotherly love. Yup, even Trevon, who was the big shot of the Brarly family and had a reputation for being super tough, had a soft spot for his sister
For Selina, the Harvey family’s lost daughter, life was supposed to be all about catching up on love and attention after going missing for twenty–one years. At least, that was what the old Selina thought. But what she got instead was the cold shoulder, getting tossed off a roof, the kind of bad times, and then to top it off, getting mauled by wild dogs.
Nora noticed a flicker of sadness in Selina’s eyes, gave her hand a gentle squeeze, and then turned to Devin, saying. “Devin, can I hang with Selina alone for a bit
Sare thing, Fll fix up some snacks for you two, Devin answered, all kindness.
After Devin split, Nora scooted close to Selina on the couch and dished out some hilarious old stories about Trevon as a kid. Selina was cracking up she couldn’t believe the serious, no–nonsense Trevon she knew had these goofball moments in his past. Like, if anyone else heard these tales, no way they’d match them up with the Trevon of today–nobody would believe it.
Nora was like this late ray of sunshine, spreading warmth wherever he went. Just bring around her was a total breath of fresh air, kind of like hanging out with a childhood friend from next door. Nothing about her screamed “rich and snooty heiress“. Take away Nora’s cutesy, innocent look, and one’d swear she was just a fun–loving, down–to–earth middle–class girl. Right off the hat, Selina was a fan.
“Look, I gotta say sorry for something, just don’t be mad, okay? Nora said with a mischievous glint in her eye. “So, Trevon was like super annoyed with our family pushing him to go on these blind dates. He wasn’t into it at all. So, ut. I might’ve pulled a prank and posted a fake wedding announcement online for him…..
Selina couldn’t resist grinning, getting why it all happened now. It figured that it was Nora, the family’s prankster, who kicked off the whole mess And honestly, the thought of Trevon, of all people, doing something as wild as that was nuts. Maybe this was just how the universe wanted things, bringing them together in their quirky, let’s–make–this–work marriage. Tim not mad. You were just trying to help him out weren’t you?”
“Exactly! And now that he’s got you, I’m feeling way better. Look, I’m no expen, but you’re way cool, and my instincts are top–notch. Plus, you’re gorgeous, and if Trevon’s into you, you’ve gotta be awesome. I hope well be super close as sisters–in–law and learn tons from each other!” Nora said with a big, bright smile.
Nora was seriously into Selina; she was nothing like those fancy, fake girls who tried cozying up to her just to get a piece of Trevon Meeting someone as beautiful as Selina, who also had this cool vibe that just pulled in people, that was a first for Nora. No shocker Trevon was head over
“Feelings mutual,” Selina said with a smile.
They spent the whole afternoon chatting away hike there was no tomorrow.
Nora, not wanting their hangout to end, lit up and squeezed Selina’s hand. “You know, awesome people don’t bump into each other enough. What do you say I take you out to this epic restaurant My treat!”
“But Trevon’s gonna be home any minute. Maybe we should stay put!” Selina suggested.
“No way! Nora whined. “If Trevon shows up, he’ll rum our fun. Come on, as a favor to me, please! Her pleading puppy–dog eyes were impossible to say no to she tugged at Selina’s sleeve, all charm and cuteness.
Selina gave in; she found it hard to say no to Nora. She ruffled Nora’s hair like she would with a laule sister she adored. That got her wondering, “How amazing would it be if my actual sis, Ashley, was anything like Nora! They both come from fancy, rich backgrounds. So why is it that my own flesh and blood. Ashley, is out to bury me six feet under, but Nora can hang out all innocent and sweet, giving me those warm, fuzzy vibes?” “Alright, I’ll just shoot Trevon a quick text”
“Whoa, hold up! What if Trevon gets the wrong ideal Don’t be too buddy–buddy with Trevon just yet. You’re not married, and some guys think if a girl’s too eager, it’s a turn–off Nora teased with a playful wink. “And trust me, Trevon’s got quite the temper. Let him know your every move, and he’ll start expecting it all the time.
“That’s just sally” Selina shrugged off the comment. It wasn’t like hanging out with Trevor’s sister was something she needed to keep him posted
about
When Trevon got home, he stepped into an unusually quiet house. “Where’s Selina?” he asked with a frown.
“She went out to grab a bite with Ms. Nora Brady, Devin answered.

Chapter 30
“Why don’t you give me a heads–up!”
Devin looked a bit uneasy. After a brief pause, he said, “Mrs. Brady meant to let you know but Ms. Nora Brady persuaded her.
“That little rascal” Trevon grumbled to himself. He shot Selina a text: Where are you guys”
Selina quickly typed back: [Out with Nora at a restaurant. She then added a picture of Nora flashing a peace sign and grinning next to a fancy cupcake.
Trevon Wasch out for that troublemaker] Knowing Nora’s knack for mischief all too well, he saw his half–sister as a lovable but confusing thorn in
his side.
Selina: Don’t worry. She’s super sweet. I really like her]
Trevor II just hope she’s on her best behavior with you.]
A touch of excitement in his text made Selina grin. Clearly, the brother–sister duo cared a lot about each other if they could rib each other this
mich.
“Oh man, I bet Trevon’s giving me a hard time on there! Not cool Nora complained, pecking at Selina’s phone and making a mock–annoyed face. She whipped out her own phone and started firing off a playful protest to Trevon..
Just then, a surprised voice cut in, “Nora” is that really you? What are the odds?”
