Chapter 6 We’ve Always Had the Same Taste

Henry kept staring at the boxes. Something within his heart seemed to stir.

There was a wrinkled piece of paper beside the three boxes.

He reached out and slowly smoothed it out.

It had a drawing of a three-story house. There was a line written beside it.

“Henry, this is my dream home for us.”

Their home …

Thanks to these words, a strange feeling emerged in Henry’s heart.

But soon, a look of contempt appeared on his face.

He couldn’t let that woman fool him with a drawing! This was probably one of her tricks again!

Even so …

Henry’s gaze fell on the house in the drawing.

He figured that if Natalie stopped acting up for no reason, he wouldn’t mind putting this matter behind him.

That thought seemed to ease some of his frustration.

After getting the business card from Leslie, Natalie began making preparations to promote herself.

She picked out some of the architectural designs she was most satisfied with. She planned on bringing them to the charity gala with her.

But before that, she needed a gown to wear to the charity gala.

In the last three years, Henry never brought her to attend any kind of event. She didn’t have a single formal gown.

In the afternoon, Natalie went to a nearby shopping mall.

As soon as she entered a boutique, the salesperson swiftly came over. “What kind of outfit are you looking for, miss?”

Natalie looked at what the boutique had to offer. In the end, her eyes were drawn to a burgundy off-shoulder gown on one of the mannequins.

It was sultry yet elegant at the same time. The design was not too flashy and clichéd. It was a striking gown.

The salesperson noticed Natalie’s gaze and asked with a smile, “Shall I bring it down for you to try?”

Natalie smiled faintly. Before she could speak, a voice behind her called out, “I want that gown.”

The salesperson and Natalie both turned around.

Natalie’s eyes flickered.

She couldn’t believe her rotten luck for running into Juliet here!

Natalie had to admit that Juliet had gotten prettier in the last three years.

Her fair skin, flawless makeup, and long blonde hair that cascaded down her shoulders all made her stand out from the crowd.

Natalie didn’t want to have anything to do with Juliet. She was just about to leave when Juliet greeted her, “Long time no see, Natalie.”

The salesperson glanced at the two women in surprise. “Are you two acquainted? What a coincidence! You both like the same gown!”

Though the salesperson was simply making a spontaneous comment, Natalie’s heart still stung.

“That’s true,” Juliet agreed with an unreadable smile. “We’ve always had the same taste.”

Why else would they have taken a liking to the same man?

But in reality, Juliet didn’t care for the gown at all. She spotted Natalie just now, so she wanted to mess with her.

“Wrap that gown up for me,” Juliet instructed the salesperson.

The salesperson cast a troubled glance at Natalie. “But it was this customer who expressed her interest in the gown first …”

“So what if she did? She hasn’t paid for it, right?” Juliet’s tone was pointed and domineering. “I’ll pay ten times as much for it. That should be enough, right?”

“Well …” The salesperson was still hesitant.

Natalie didn’t want to drag things out, so she said, “It’s fine. Let her have it. I’ll pick something else.”

The salesperson gave Natalie a grateful smile before saying to Juliet, “I’ll wrap the gown up for you right away.”

She took the gown off the mannequin and brought it to the cashier.

Once the salesperson walked off, Juliet announced smugly, “When I came back to the country, Henry picked me up at the airport himself. He even bought all the tickets to my performance and gave me the roses I adore the most …”

Smiling victoriously, Juliet continued, “Natalie, if you can’t hold onto certain people, it’s best to just let go. Otherwise, you’ll be the one who ends up as a pathetic embarrassment.”

Natalie pursed her lips and coolly met Juliet’s gaze. “It’s true that I should let go, but … if he cares about you so much, why didn’t he tell you right away that we’re about to get a divorce?”

Juliet was stunned.

A divorce?

Henry didn’t mention that to her!

In fact, when Juliet shared a meal with him the other day, she asked him about his marriage. He told her everything was fine between him and Natalie.

Juliet wondered whether or not Henry was still mad at her.

Was that why he didn’t tell her about the divorce?

After seeing Juliet’s reaction, Natalie got her answer.

She chuckled and purposely taunted, “Why didn’t he share the wonderful news with you at once?”

Juliet’s expression shifted slightly, but she quickly regained her composure. “The love Henry and I have for each other is irreplaceable! You’ve been with him for three years. I’m sure you know who his heart belongs to, right?”

Natalie’s smile widened, but her gaze was mocking. “‘Irreplaceable’? Don’t you replace it laughable that this word is coming out of your mouth?”

Back then, Juliet accepted the money Owen gave her for the sake of her future. She used it to fly abroad and promised she would leave Henry.

Now that she had built a successful career for herself, she wanted to come back and pick up where she left off—with the person she had thrown aside back then. How ridiculous of her to say that her love was irreplaceable!

Yet, some men fell for such tricks!

The thought of Henry pining after Juliet all these years made Natalie criticize him mentally.

He was the world’s biggest idiot!

Enraged by Natalie’s words, Juliet immediately retorted, “If it weren’t for you, his grandfather wouldn’t have forced us to break up!”

Juliet clenched her fists, but she then gave Natalie a taunting smirk. “Still, it doesn’t matter anymore. All that matters is Henry understands my choice. After all, you two are about to get a divorce anyway.”

“Is that so?” Natalie responded indifferently. “In that case, I wish you all the best in becoming Mrs. Chase.”

Natalie walked out of the boutique.

Later on, she picked out a black gown from a different boutique. After getting ready, she set off to the charity gala.

All kinds of luxury cars were parked outside the venue of the charity gala.

Quite a number of people had already arrived. They were all dressed to the nines.

Everyone was chatting among themselves with glasses of wine in hand.

Natalie only had one thing on her mind. She was looking for Trevor Costa, the man in charge of the competition.

After asking countless people, she finally found out that Trevor was having coffee in the VIP lounge.

She hurried over to the lounge.

The door was slightly ajar.

Still, out of politeness, Natalie knocked on the door and asked, “Mr. Costa? Are you there? May I come in?”

She kept her ears pricked for an answer.

At last, she heard a voice saying, “Come in.”

Natalie exhaled and opened the door.

But when she saw the person sitting in the middle of the lounge, she tensed up again.
