Once Rejected, Thrice Accepted -
Chapter 105
Olivia was right about my mates being pissed. I had to step in between them and the warriors that were still alive after the fight. They wouldn't even listen to Cass until I threatened to leave without them. Lucas swore he wouldn't allow it but when I hopped into the car with the girl's head back home he changed his mind. "Fine. Just stay close by to help my wolf calm down and I will do my best not to punch anyone's lights out." Lucas growled pulling me out of the car and up against his side." Now let's have a nice chat with the warriors I sent with you." "Nope." I made sure to pop that p nice and hard. "Two of their friends died in front of them while fighting to keep us safe. They should be able to go home and recover before you start in. You have another fish to fry anyway."
"Yea and what's that?" Lucas looked at me like I was annoying him. "What other fish do we have to fry? The only thing going on in my head is that my mate was attacked on her first trip with her friends to the mall and you barely scraped by." Thad to take a deep breath and refrain myself from punching him in the nose. "I love you and you're my mate.
But if you ever exaggerate about something like this again I will break your nose. We kicked ass and only left one survivor. We did that on purpose so get your happy ass in the vehicle so we can take him back to the pack and get some answers." "Gemma he is just scared and he is mad at himself for letting this happen." Leo defended his brother but stopped when I shook my head
"We will discuss this later. I want the bodies of the two dead guards taken back to the pack and I am personally going to speak with their families." I pointed at a group of warriors that came with my mates. "I think you guys can handle that while I ride back with my mates and have a talk with them. Any of the other warriors that are here can take care of these bodies. Cass you think you can handle that?"
He nodded and gave me a hug before giving out orders. We had blocked off this area and done our best to keep prying eyes away. We didn't leave the bodies lying around while we waited for the rest of them to join us so they were under a few vehicles with a few in the dumpster and a few other places.
It wasn't long before we are all in the vehicle with the prisoner in between Lucas and Leo in the backseat.
Duncan was driving even though he had preferred if I drove.
I had to remind them that no one had taught me how to drive yet. I also had to tell them that one of if not all of them told me they would teach me to drive among other things but things like s*x keeps getting in our way of doing anything else. That made them laugh.
"I'm sorry that I exaggerated about you guys almost getting your butt whipped. Two of our pack are dead and I see the bruise forming on your cheek both of which makes me feel like a failure." Lucas admitted making sure to keep his face toward the window The prisoner laughed earning him glares from everyone but me in the car. "Everyone did great on your side. When the Luna stepped in, she ended the fight. I thought I was dead meat."
"No one said you could talk. Zip it or I'll rip your tongue out.
"Leo growled surprising the crap out of me.
"We need him to have his tongue for now. Save your strength. He may be chatting now but once we get him in a cell he may clam up." Duncan growled speeding the car up.
"I won't. I will tell you whatever you want to know and I will be honest. I only took this gig for the money and it was not worth it."
Lucas elbowed him in the face knocking him back out. "He talks too dang much."
We drove the rest of the way to the pack house in silence. I knew they were just pouting and upset that they weren't there to protect me but they had to know that's what I was training for. I was no longer that week girl who got the crap beat out of her and who let everyone walk all over her. I was facing off against some of the top warriors in the pack when I went to practice. I was out running most of the wolves in the training session shifted or in human form.
Moonlight was stronger than ever. I knew they were always going to worry about me because it was just ingrained in them but sometimes I just wish they trusted me more. It I had needed their help I would've called for them or found a way to get more help. "You guys do your torture and answer thing while go meet with the families." I stated as we all got out of the car.
Duncan went to say something but I cut him off. "They were with me to guard me while we went on a shopping trip. They deserve to know how they fought and how they died. They deserve to tell me about them and cry with me. I am the luna of this pack which means I take care of this pack emotionally, mentally, and so much more. Let me do my job." And I left.
Several of the pack were getting things ready for the burial ceremony. I could hear wailing over by the bodies before I saw the families and friends surrounding them. I needed to hold myself together for them. I would fall apart back at home.
