Chapter 120

“Mrs. Foley, you’re the victim here. Once you’ve given your statement, you’re free to go,” Chief Holland said, approaching Stella with the utmost respect.

It was at that moment Melanie seemed to put two and two together. Her face drained of color as she recognized Brian.

“Is he Brian Foley, the guy from all those TV interviews? she asked, her voice trembling with shock.

Chief Holland confirmed, “That’s him.”

Melanie’s legs trembled, and her head was spinning. “And she’s Mrs. Foley?”

“That’s correct.

With a gasp, Melanie’s world spun, and darkness enveloped her as she fainted.

Chief Holland guided Stella over to Brian’s side. Her hair was tousled, and her face was drained of color.

Brian’s demeanor turned cold as he escorted her out of the station. With a disdainful snort, he asked, Now you see what kind of man your uncle really is?”

Stella halted in her tracks. Tears were welling up in her eyes.

Brian strode ahead. He did not notice that Stella had stopped and was standing still.

“Mr. Foley, Mrs. Foley is still back there,” Mike reminded him.

Brian turned around, his expression tense. He could see Stella standing there, with her eyes swollen and her face drained of color.

He walked over in silence, ready to scoop her up.

Stella pushed him away, stumbling back. Her voice trembled with anguish as she choked out, “Don’t touch me. Just leave me alone. Everyone’s out to get me…”

Her eyes welled up with tears. “I was naive. I never thought people could be so heartless. He was willing to sell me out for money…”

She turned to run, but Brian grabbed her hand and pulled her back, holding her tightly.

Stella fought to break free, but Brian held her firmly. His touch was gentle as he stroked her head to

comfort her.

“What did I ever do to deserve this?” Stella’s voice cracked with tears. “I’m his niece, and yet he could do something like this to me…”

Brian’s brows furrowed as he drew her closer. “That’s why your father arranged for you to marry me,” he explained.

It was rare for Brian to offer an explanation,

“Simon knew that once he was gone, no one else would take care of you.” Brian continued softly, “So he made sure I married you.”

Tears streamed down her cheeks. With her nose red and her energy drained, she leaned against him.

Brian’s touch was tender as he stroked her head. “You’re loved, Stella. Your father loved you.”

Stella froze.

Mentioning her father stopped her tears.

Yes, her father loved her, which was why he arranged for her to marry Brian,

Her father hadn’t made a mistake. These two years with Brian had been filled with moments of ease and

joy.

Brian lifted her gently, carrying her back to the car,

Exhausted from her tears, Stella nestled against him and drifted off to sleep on the journey home.

When they arrived at Yolvencrest Estate, Joseph was already there.

Brian carefully lifted the sleeping Stella from the car.

Joseph watched in surprise as Brian handled Stella with utmost care, as though she were a delicate

treasure.

As Joseph examined Stella, Brian remained by Stella’s side, holding her hand tightly. “Is she okay?”

“She’ll be alright. She was just drugged, but she’ll bounce back,” Joseph assured, packing up his medical

kit.

The two men exited the room together…

Mike ascended the stairs and approached Brian. “Mr. Foley, everything’s been taken care of. We’ve already sent a legal notice to the Hark family.”

Brian nodded, his face stem.

“And about the Yates family… Mr. Foley, how should we handle them?” Mike asked.

“Cut all ties with Yates Group until their board removes Chris. No exceptions,” Brian replied firmly.

“Understood.”

“What exactly happened to Mrs. Foley tonight?” Joseph asked Mike. “Why Is Brian so furious?”

Mike briefly recounted the night’s events.
