Chapter 124

“Yes, Stella, please talk to your husband and ask him to stop targeting my dad. We’re family. We should be supporting each other,” Blair said, holding out her phone for Stella to call Brian.

Stella let out a cold laugh and took a sip of water. “Blair, if you care so much about your dad, why didn’t you sacrifice yourself and entertain Mr. Hark last night?

Blair’s expression darkened. “Stella! What do you mean by that? How could I possibly be with such a disgusting man?”

“Oh, so you know he’s disgusting? Your dad’s gambling debts aren’t your responsibility. But you expect

me, an outsider, to help him?

“And you have the nerve to act so entitled about it. Where’s your shame?” Stella shot back, her expression

hardening.

Blair’s face flushed red with anger and embarrassment. “So what if you spend a night with that old man?

You’ve been married before, so what’s one more time? I’m different, I’m still a virgin!”

Stella laughed in disbelief and turned to Claudia. “I’m done with your family’s problems. Don’t come to me again. Chris being kicked off the board is what he deserves.”

Blair, both furious and humiliated, dug in her heels and refused to leave the studio no matter how much

they tried to make her go.

Claudia took her moral blackmail to a whole new leve), kneeling at the studio door and drawing stares

and whispers from passersby.

By the end of the day, they were still there, telling anyone who asked that Stella was heartless and ruthless toward her uncle’s family.

Stella grabbed her bag and came downstairs.

“Ms. Yates, that mother and daughter duo are still kneeling.” Xenia said.

“Let them kneel all they want,” Stella replied coldly

As Stella walked out, Claudia’s voice echoed behind her, desperate and loud. “Stella, I’m begging you! ed behind her, desperate and loud. “Stella, I’m begging you! Your uncle is getting old. Please don’t cut him off completely. How will our family survive?”

“Taking away someone’s livelihood is like killing their parents, Stella. I hope you’ll think it over and give us a satisfactory answer tomorrow.” Claudia choked back tears amid the growing crowd.

Whispers and glances followed Stella.

She kept her expression cold, slid into her Porsche without a second look, and drove away.

That night, Yvonne prepared spicy jalapeño poppers for Stella.

Stella cracked open a beer and dialed Yelena on her phone, munching.

“Stellie, my assistant told me your aunt caused a scene at the studio this afternoon. She even knelt at the

door?” Yelena asked.

“Yeah, she’s shameless,” Stella replied, taking a sip of beer and letting out a bitter chuckle

Yelena was livid. “If I weren’t out of town, I’d give them a piece of my mind.”

“Who are you talking to?” Brian’s voice drifted in from the doorway.

Stella glanced over to replace him entering, fresh from work. He had slung his suit jacket over his arm

“Whose voice is that?” Yelena asked through the video call.

“Brian. He’s back,” Stella murmured softly.

“Why does he suddenly have so much free time? Didn’t he used to come home like once every blue moon? I remember you saying how empty and cold it was without him,” Yelena said.

Stella blushed at the remark and stole a quick glance at Brian

Just settling in, he seemed to catch the comment and arched an eyebrow.

Stella turned to Yelena on the video call. “Shhh! Let’s not go there.”

“What’s the big secret? I have other questions for him. What’s the deal with that mistress of his? Are they breaking up or not? If not, just get a divorce. You deserve your freedom…” Yelena pressed on.

Before she could finish, Brian swiftly reached for Stella’s phone and intercepted the call.
