Our Journey Back To Love -
Chapter 148
Chapter 148
“Who told you to suggest those things to my mom?” Brian stopped in his tracks and looked down at Jessica from above.
Jessica was taken aback. Her eyes quickly reddened it wasn’t my suggestion. Mrs. Foley brought it up.”
“Of course, she would. She thought the child you’re carrying is mine.”
Jessica glanced around nervously and said in a lowered voice, “Keep it down.”
She was worried that Sharon’s people might hear.
Brian’s expression remained cold. “You know very well what our agreement is,”
Tears clung to the corners of Jessica’s eyes, making her look pitiful. “But didn’t you say you would help. me fulfill any wish I had? My wish now is to marry you
“And what if I marry you? You know I don’t love you,” Brian said flatly.
“I know, but I still love you,” she replied softly. “I don’t want you to be sad, so I’ve been taking care of Mrs. Foley wholeheartedly. I just want to make her a little happier and fulfill her wish.”
Brian found her words laughable. “I’m grateful for you taking care of my mom, but you’re doing it for yourself.
“You want her to like you, so you please her. It’s not about making me happy or fulfilling her wishes. It’s about fulfilling your own.”
He had hit the nail on the head. Jessica’s face paled but quickly returned to normal.
She spoke gently, “Brian, Mrs. Foley is in very bad shape. Just let her be happy. Stella can’t have children. If you stay with her, Mrs. Foley will be infuriated.”
Brian’s gaze turned icy. Jessica continued, “Stomach cancer is largely influenced by emotional stress. If Mrs. Foley gets worked up, her condition will worsen.”
“Don’t speak ill of her.” Brian looked at her coldly. He was actually defending Stella.
Jessica smiled. Since he liked to hear nice things, she would say them. “Brian, that’s not what I meant. I
just don’t want you to have any regrets.”
She moved closer, trying to hold his arm. Brian’s eyes remained cold as he gently brushed her off and walked away.
Jessica’s eyes were filled with disappointment. She spoke softly, “Brian, won’t you take me home?”
Brian Ignored her and strode off. When Anna approached from behind, Jessica was crying. Anna sighed.
“Why did you say those things to create a rift with Mr. Foley?”
“I’m a woman, I get jealous, too,” Jessica replied coldly. “I’ve been taking care of his mom at the hospital while he runs off to entangle himself with Stella.
“I even heard they went to the movies and had dinner. He’s never had that kind of patience with me.”
“Mr. Foley might really like her.”
“Is she worth it?” Jessica’s eyes were icy, “I come from a better family background, yet Mr. Foley Senior doesn’t like me.
“Stella’s dad plotted against Brian, so why did Mr. Foley Senior allow her to marry Brian? Why does Brian like that bitch? Why is this world so unfair?”
Jealousy and hatred burned in her eyes. “Fine, if he loves Stella, I’ll make sure she has no place to rest.
After leaving, Brian drove to Starlight Couture. The lights there were already off. She must be asleep.
Brian didn’t go up. He rolled down the window and lit a cigarette. The red glow of the cigarette flickered in the darkness.
He could go up and get entangled with her again. But he knew he couldn’t promise her anything. Each entanglement was just another hurtful incident. It was better to leave her.
After snuffing out the cigarette, he drove off,
