Chapter 34

Yoel noticed her avoidance. He turned to look at her with a warm smile. “I’m sorry. I’m getting too close, aren’t 17o

Stella hastily said, “It’s fine. There’s no need to apologize.”

She believed that he didn’t do it on purpose.

Yoel helped her to the seat in the doctor’s office.

She then obediently answered everything the doctor wanted to know.

She was a beauty that had the tendency to draw one in. Although she was undeniably gorgeous, it wasn’t intimidating.

Yoel stood aside and watched her, Once the doctor had given their diagnosis, he wasted no time supporting her. “Mr. Yates, allow me.”

“Thank you,” Stella thanked him sincerely as Yoel naturally slung her purse on his shoulder.

Stella was caught off guard by his actions. However, she didn’t say a word and went straight to the imaging room.

She had to wait in line to get the imaging process done. So, Yoel sat next to her and poked a straw through the strawberry milk carton before pressing the straw against her lips. “Have some milk.”

“Thank you,” Stella thanked him yet again before taking the carton from him. Her hair fell in waves over her shoulder as she drank the milk. Her side profile was porcelain fair.

Once she was done drinking, she posed a question to Yoel, “Mr. Perkins, are you truly my blind date?

She was worried she had gotten the wrong person.

Yoel chuckled and said, “That’s right. I’m your fate. However, Mrs. Foley initially wanted to introduce you to one of my executives.

“Unfortunately, he wasn’t interested after hearing that you had experienced one failed marriage.

She didn’t mind as it was normal for someone with such a high annual income to seek better pastures. instead of settling for less.

There was nothing wrong with that. So, Stella nodded in understanding before asking. “Then, why did your come in his stead?”

“I grew up abroad. People over there don’t quibble over something so minor. Besides, I believe that a woman who is willing to go through a divorce is a brave one. So, I wanted to meet you, Ms. Yates.”

“How did Mrs. Foley introduce me to you?” She was worried that Sharon had overexaggerated some of her qualities.

“Mrs. Foley said you’re her niece. Two years ago, your father was imprisoned due to a financial crisis.

Before he left, he left you in the care of a man. Sadly, he didn’t like you. So, your marriage was an unhappy

one

“She pitied you and wanted to replace you a good man. That way, you’ll have someone in your life.”

She didn’t expect Sharon to go down that route. It was surprisingly neutral.

Stella smiled. “That’s right. That’s me. My father’s in jail and I have no one. As for my work… Well, I started

a studio with my friend. I’m sure you know about it. It’s Starlight Couture.”

Stella and Yelena had taken inspiration from their names when they came up with the brand name.

Yoel hummed lightly before responding. “Yes, I do.”

Stella shot him an odd look. Since he was more or less in the know, did he not care about what she had said earlier?

She was no longer an heiress. If anything, she was an heiress to a mountain of debt. How was she worthy to become the partner of a CEO with a net worth of hundreds of billions?

After she went through the imaging procedure, the doctor deemed Stella’s hand just fine minor sprain,

All she had to do was ice it for a bit and apply the medicine on her hand.

The two didn’t dally and left the hospital.

She had just arrived downstairs when she bumped into Jessica. Jessica’s manager was helping her with her bags. It was clear as day that Jessica was getting discharged today.

“Yoel? Stella?” Jessica was terribly surprised to see them together. “Why are you two at the hospital?”

“Stella’s hand was injured. I sent her here just in case.” Yoel had deliberately addressed her casually, making it seem as though they were close.

Jessica could naturally parse through the hidden implications. Nonetheless, she turned her warm attention to Stella. “Stella, is your hand alright?”

“It’s fine.” Stella instinctively hid her swollen wrist from sight.

Jessica continued to say gently, “You have to be careful when you walk. It’ll hurt something awful if you’re not careful.”

Stella couldn’t help but replace every cell of Jessica’s body fake. It was disgusting to see her acting as though she was some warm–hearted sister of hers.

Thus, she had–no intention of wasting her time with Jessica. Instead, she looked at Yoel and said, “Mr. Perkins, I’m rather tired. I want to go home and catch a wink.”

“Of course.” Yoel immediately bid his farewell to Jessica before leaving with Stella.

Stella took a few steps before suddenly turning around. Her eyes instantly narrowed on Jessica holding a phone. It was obvious she was taking a picture of Stella and Yoel.

The two women’s gazes met,

Jessica simply lowered her phone and tilted her head as she smiled.
