Yasmin was used to seeing her parents being intimate often. She knew that pretending to be pitiful couldn’t change her low status in this family. So, she had learned to ignore her parents’ close proximity who were so in love with each other. This time also, it didn’t differ. She just picked up her luggage and went to her room quietly.

Sometimes she really didn’t understand how her parents made a perfect couple where her father, Adriel, was the most serious person she had seen and her mother was the liveliest member of her family. The two of them had been an affectionate couple for decades. She had heard that her mother Zara was the most beautiful girl in her school. Of course, not that stereotypical cold-hearted beauty kind. She chased after this popular, talented but indifferent man Adriel in the university for several years, and finally got him. Although their university love story was really interesting, they had to experience a lot of hardships in the latter years. Even though they were separated from each other because of work and encountered several conflicts in their lives, their feelings for each other never faded away. On the contrary, they loved each other more and more as time went by. Time didn’t change Zara’s lively and optimistic character.

Adriel was the City Mayor while Zara worked as the director in the city hospital. They were a busy couple who worked hard every day. Even though the two of them didn’t have much time to spend with each other, they lived a fulfilling life. Over the past few years, Zara had been training a successor to her. Except for some major operations that she had to perform in person, she didn’t have much works to do. So, in her spare time, she thought about her daughter, Yasmin and how she should get married soon. It didn’t matter if Yasmin was reluctant, she had to get married because Zara wanted her to. According to Zara, when a woman was in her young age, she had more and better choices for her husband. Zara talked about this with Adriel, who always spoiled his wife unconditionally anyway. This time also, he agreed with her at once. Therefore, in the past two years, although Yasmin was working in another city, she had been suffering every now and then with the blind dates arranged by her mother.

To be honest, as Yasmin grew older, she envied the relationship between her parents more. For so many years, she had been waiting for the right person to appear in her life, the one who would love her the most. When she hit her puberty, there came a person in her life. By his appearance, he resembled her father so much. So, she actually took a liking in him. But, before she had time to confess her love to him, he disappeared all of a sudden. Then Zachary came. He could have been a potential partner. He was good in all aspects and she actually liked him. Unfortunately, he was gay.

After unpacking her bags, Yasmin was called out by Zara to have lunch. Whenever she came home, they always talked about various subjects together during lunch hours.

At the dining table, while eating the delicious food cooked by Zara, Yasmin had to listen quietly about the advices Zara gave for the upcoming meeting with Zachary’s parents. She kept on talking about the dos and don’ts while Adriel nodded and agreed with his wife from time to time.

At one point, Zara felt that her daughter was not listening to her. So, she asked Yasmin to repeat what she just said. In order not to let her mother pestering her anymore, Yasmin said concisely, “Tonight, our family and the Estrada family are going to the Starry Restaurant to have dinner together. I should dress up, behave politely, and act like a lady. Right?”

“Well, that’s it. You can take a nap after lunch. I’ll take care of your clothes after you get up.” Zara looked distastefully at the casual clothes that Yasmin was wearing. She felt the need to intervene in picking up an elegant dress for her daughter. “You must dress up well!”

“I will Mom! Can I eat in peace now? Besides, Dad, control your wife. She is too wordy.” Yasmin had no choice but to plead with her nagging mother and serious father.

“You bad girl, you always think I’m annoying. After you get married in the future, I won’t have chance to annoy you anymore,” Zara said sadly.

Yasmin always fell into the trap of Zara’s emotional blackmailing. “Well, mother, I won’t get married then, so you can keep nagging me. Okay?”

Hearing her daughter’s words, Zara immediately showed her true colors and the feigned sadness she had worked hard to cultivate disappeared in a moment. “Don’t even think about it. Marry a good man as soon as possible, so that I’ll be at peace.” Although no parents wanted their daughter to leave, they had to get her married one day. Zara wanted to marry Yasmin to someone whom they were acquainted with already, so that she’d miss her less in the future. Therefore, in Zara’s eyes, Zachary was the best son-in-law.

Yasmin was used to the quick change in Zara’s attitude. The best way was to ignore her, so Yasmin concentrated on eating quietly after that.

After lunch, the whole family went to take some rest. Around three o’clock in the afternoon, Zara came and pulled Yasmin up from her sleep. Then Zara took out a few sets of clothes that she had chosen and asked Yasmin to try them on one by one.

Yasmin continued fidgeting around in a daze. After more than half an hour, Zara finally confirmed which dress Yasmin should wear tonight, and then proceeded to prepare Yasmin’s hair and makeup. Zara had the basic knowledge in makeup. When she was young, she used to be an amateur makeup artist herself. So, it wasn’t a big deal for her to give Yasmin a beautiful makeover. Ignoring Yasmin’s skeptical gaze, Zara smiled proudly. Her genes had contributed a lot to her daughter’s beautiful appearance.

After sitting in front of the mirror and doing makeup for a long time, Yasmin was finally relieved. With her mother’s non-stop chatter, Yasmin no longer felt sleepy. She noticed Zara’s complacent expression before looking at herself in the mirror. Tonight, she was wearing light makeup and her bangs were tied behind her head. The rest of her soft curly hair was draped over her shoulders. Her delicate face looked exquisite. Overall, she looked very elegant in this strapless floral dress.

“Mom, good job!” Yasmin turned back and looked at Zara, praising her mother sincerely. Zara nodded satisfactorily. Well, she looked good and was happy about it. But it certainly didn’t mean she was ready for marriage. In fact, Yasmin was depressed thinking about it.

“Mom, you should also dress up now. Don’t be a disgrace to our family.” Yasmin arose from her seat and pushed Zara out of the bedroom and closed the door.

“You bad girl, watch your mouth. How can I disgrace our family? It’s all my credit that you are looking beautiful now!” Zara protested standing outside the door, but there was no response from Yasmin. So, she shook her head then went to her own bedroom to dress up.

The two families had agreed to meet at six o’clock in the evening at a well-known restaurant in the Olkfield. When Yasmin and her parents arrived at the restaurant, Zachary and his family had already been waiting for them in a private cabin.

When Zachary saw his future parents in law entering the cabin, he immediately stood up and greeted them politely. He even pulled out chairs for them to sit down like a gentleman that he was.

Yasmin followed her parents. After her parents sat down, she greeted Zachary’s parents with a polite smile, “Hello, Mr. Estrada, Mrs. Estrada.”

“Yasmin, you look so beautiful! Don’t be nervous. Please take a seat,” Juliet said to Yasmin in a gentle voice. Yasmin realized that Juliet looked more beautiful than the photo and behaved more elegantly than she had expected. After welcoming Yasmin, Juliet winked at Zara to show her approval, which was immediately got reciprocated by Zara the same way.

Meanwhile, Zachary was slightly distracted seeing Yasmin dressed like this. The few times they had met in the past, he had always seen her dress casually. But tonight, she looked elegant and dignified, as if she had changed into a completely different person.

The simple but classy strapless floral dress that she wore, was highlighting her fair skin. Her tall and slender figure looked so graceful with her long hair and bright smile.
