The four adults and five children gathered together. Zaiden stood calm and composed, not speaking too much about his son. He kept things pretty brief. “Novak is the most beautiful gift I’ve received in my life.”

Once he was done speaking, Novak’s big eyes brightened. Everyone’s gaze kept flitting between the father and the son.

After chatting for a while, Zaiden went to entertain the other guests. When he passed by Joseph, he said, “Novak is a few months older than Darrel and Darlene. This may be the only thing that makes me better than you.”

Upon hearing this, Joseph watched Zaiden’s disappearing figure and then he looked at his children and Novak. A meaningful look appeared on his face.

Joseph’s mind suddenly went back to that year when his children were conceived. Back then Zack was hell-bent on taking revenge on him and Zaiden also witnessed the scene. He deduced it was after Zack’s failed revenge that Zaiden had decided to give up on Ashley and then accidentally had this son.

At the meantime, the children were bereft of hatred, brimming with innocence and purity. They held no grudge against each other. In spite of everything, they started mingling.

“Novak, why don’t you speak?” Milena was one naughty girl and she had a penchant for getting acquainted with people.

The little girl’s enthusiasm compelled Novak to speak. Gently, he asked, “What’s your name?”

“My name is Milena Guzman. The beautiful girl next to me is Darlene Marshall, and the handsome boy is Darrel Marshall.” She was bubbling over with excitement. She went on, “My mommy is holding my brother, Milan Guzman, a sleepyhead.”

Novak had nothing to say so he simply nodded his head and said, “Oh.”

This cold treatment didn’t go well with Milena. She remained silent for a few seconds, but that was about it. She then raised her voice and said, “Darrel, I replace that Novak is even colder than you!”

Darrel curled his lips in disdain. He chose to ignore her remark.

The conversation reached an impasse for a moment. Milena realized she couldn’t get either boy to talk to her. Turning to her cousin sister for comfort, she said, “Look at this! Darlene, please give me some company.”

Looking at the little girl’s aggrieved face, Darlene, who was a kind cousin, walked up to her and touched her little head. “Milena, don’t be sad. You can lean on my shoulder if you want. I am always here for you.”

She sounded quite gallant. The scene of two beautiful girls leaning against each other brought a smile to everyone’s face.

Just then, Ashley and the bride slowly walked over, a bright smile lighting up their faces.

Milena abandoned Darlene when she found a broader shoulder. “Aunt Ashley, those boys are ignoring me. Please give me a hug.”

Holding the two-year-old girl in her arms, Ashley’s smile deepened. “Why aren’t they talking to you?” she asked with mock curiosity.

Milena put her pink little finger on her delicate chin and gave it some thought. “I guess they are competing to see who is more aloof.”

“Ha ha…” Tracy, who was taken by the adorable girl, burst into laughter. “This child is so cute!” she remarked, touching her cheek.

“Hello, Aunt. I’m Milena Guzman. You can call me Milena. You’re very beautiful.” Milena was fond of beautiful people. She smiled sweetly and introduced herself, “Aunt, although I’m a cute girl, I would like it if you called me a lady. I prefer beautiful over cute.”

Tracy was in awe at the eloquence characterized by this two-year-old child. She was almost rendered speechless.

As this spectacle was unraveling, a short-haired pretty woman with a baby in her arms came and looked at her apologetically. “Don’t mind her. My girl is a little foolish.”

Milena glared at her mother, heavy with rejection. “You’re a bad mommy. How could you slander your daughter like this? Am I not your daughter?”

“You are! I am your mother which is why I am saying what I just said!” Rosa replied coldly.

Tracy was touched by the harmonious scene that took place before her. She sighed with a smile and said, “You’re a loving family.”

At this moment, a guest’s voice came, distracting her. “Go away, Zaiden. We want the bride to drink!”

All eyes were on the elegant bride, clad in a beautiful, white dress. Some of them took the opportunity to make fun of the groom. “Zaiden, are you reluctant to let your beautiful wife have a drink here?”

Zaiden, a lawyer, looked solemn at all times. Some guests, who were not very familiar with Zaiden, couldn’t muster up the courage to say much. They were intimidated by him. Tracy heard the commotion and was already by his side. With a slight smile at the corners of her mouth, she raised her voice and asserted, “I, Tracy, thank you all for coming to our wedding. I am grateful for all the good wishes you have given us. I’d like to drink a toast to everyone present here.”

Having been engaged in the legal industry for many years, Tracy was capable of handling things pretty well on her own. Her beautiful face was only a bonus. She also possessed other wonderful skills.

Tracy turned and looked at those who also worked as lawyers. She raised her glass and proposed a toast. Men let out a sigh when they watched her. She was indeed a beauty!

As soon as Tracy finished a glass of liquor, she heard Zaiden’s voice from behind. “Don’t drink too much,” he said, a note of warning in his voice.

“It doesn’t matter. I will drink! I’m very happy today.” Tracy waved her hand dismissively. Then she drank another glass of liquor.

The newly married couple stood close by each other, whispering every now and then. The audience watched them with envious eyes.

Seeing Tracy raise her glass again, Zaiden snatched the goblet from her hand and said indifferently, “Ignore them. Drinking is not good for your health.”

Looking up at his cold face, Tracy slowly put on an incomprehensible smile and whispered, “Zaiden, if I could choose, I would rather I had never met you.”

Tracy had suffered a lot and was trying to drown her sorrows. The two cups of strong liquor made her feel a twinge in her heart. She was now looking at the man she had loved for more than ten years. Zaiden hadn’t shown an ounce of emotion throughout the wedding. Tracy’s heart ached to see him like this.

His calm demeanor was an indication that he had no love for her!

A faint smell of alcohol lingered when she whispered. He felt sorry for what he had put her through.

After making her feelings clear, Tracy wouldn’t look at him. The look of frustration etched on his face went unnoticed by her. Forcing a smile, she said to him, “I’m going over there to propose another toast.”

Despite the bitterness in her heart, Tracy was willing to fulfill her duties as a wife and make their wedding a merry occasion.

Unfortunately, Tracy couldn’t do anything about her past. She had to make peace with her current life and keep aside the dissatisfaction she harbored for Zaiden.

Tracy took two steps forward gracefully in her high heels, but she was held back. Zaiden grabbed her wrist. He said in a low voice, “Tra… Honey, quit ruminating over the past. From now on, I’m your husband, and you’re my only wife.”

He uttered those words in an indifferent tone. In spite of that, Tracy knew a promise was a promise. He was determined to take good care of her and his son.

Tracy forgot all about the people. Happy tears welled up in her eyes. After years of waiting, she had finally won his heart!

This was the happy ending she deserved.
