Perfect Match: Irresistible Desire For You -
Chapter 420
“Finally, I am out! The air out here is so fresh!” Jane exclaimed with delight. The beautiful woman was busy watching the lively scene that was taking place in the outside world. Her face glowed with delight.
Once she had had enough of the scenery, she turned around and regarded the man sitting next to her. “Mr. Marshall, do you think my father will be surprised to see me?” she asked.
The sun was shining brightly and glinting on Darrel’s resolute face. He didn’t think it was important to give her an answer.
Jane wasn’t offended about being ignored. She thought nothing could disappoint her today. She went on, “I’m going to buy a lot of beautiful clothes and throw away all the black ones I have. They have gotten so boring.”
Shaking his head, Darrel said, “You’re so talkative.” A look of deep annoyance crossed his face.
However, this comment was too much for Jane. Her dark eyes flared angrily. “Mr. Marshall, you are such a dull man. It is no fun being around you. Whoever likes you, will be very bored. I pity that girl.”
Jane had thought he would ignore her words. However, to her surprise, he put on a serious tone and said, “No, she won’t!”
They looked ahead as the car was making its way through a busy street. He was suddenly reminded of the girl who followed him everywhere, never getting bored. He felt a brief wave of tenderness and his face softened a little.
This didn’t go unnoticed by Jane. She let out a sigh and said, “Birds of a feather flock together. I am sure she will be as intimidating and as powerful as you.”
Suddenly, a thought occurred to her and she said, “Mr. Marshall, if I am not wrong, you have entered the base when you were just fifteen years old. This could only mean that you have dated at a very young age. That is, in your early teens. I am such a sad case! I’m in my twenties now, but I haven’t been in love even once.”
Before Jane could annoy him more, she noticed they had arrived at their destination.
Excitement was shinning in her eyes. Their black luxurious car drove into a tall and magnificent office building, veered to the hidden elevator in the parking lot, and arrived at the dignified and cold headquarters of the Dragon Gang.
“Hello, Mr. Marshall! Welcome back!”
As the automatic door opened on its own, all the subordinates came forward and greeted him. Jane stepped forward along with him.
Rows upon rows of cold men were led by two middle-aged men. They stood apart in immaculate suits.
Darrel regarded the crowd and then dismissed them, “All of you can leave now. I only want Mr. Thunder and Mr. Lightning to stay back.”
Darrel had become a young and dignified man. His orders were taken seriously. Five years had passed and with time, he had become colder and more authoritative. As far as looks were concerned, he became more handsome.
“Yes, sir!”
the elites of the Dragon Gang answered in unison and obliged to his order. Soon, there were only four people left in the large space.
“Daddy, I finally get to see you!” Jane said enthusiastically and literally pounced on the handsome man on the right. Her eyes were brimming with joy.
Lightning immediately opened his arms and embraced her. “I haven’t seen my good daughter for so many years. You have become even more beautiful now.”
“Of course! After all, whose daughter am I?” Jane said proudly as she nestled in her father’s warm arms.
Lightning grinned from ear to ear at her flattery.
The father and daughter, who hadn’t seen each other for a long time, exchanged a few words with each other. Lightning sized up Darrel and said with a smile, “Sure enough, like father, like son. Mr. Marshall, you have managed to finish your training very quickly. You’re just as good as your father.”
Thunder, who hadn’t said anything yet, took this opportunity to speak. With a smile, he corrected, “I have to disagree. I think the son surpasses the father. Mr. Marshall is so excellent that I can already envision a better future for the Dragon Gang.”
Darrel was touched to hear such words from them. “I’m flattered to hear that.”
Thunder and Lightning smiled back at him. Then the two of them took him to the solemn office, hoping to discuss some serious matters.
Thunder took the internal information of the past years and presented it to Darrel. “Mr. Marshall, your father said that as a successor, everything is up to you. When do you want to hold the ceremony?”
Darrel took a seat in a high-end office chair. With a calm look on his face, he skimmed through the data and then said, “There’s no hurry. There is something else I need to do first.”
“Okay, no problem.” Lightning turned on the silvery ultrathin laptop, gently tapped the keyboard with his fingers, and then pushed it in front of Darrel. “Mr. Marshall, this is the internal information of each subsidiary and the Dragon Gang we have collected. This includes all the members of the Dragon Gang and the senior executives of each company. All in all, it has the financial statements of the past ten years.
Take a look at these materials. If you have any questions, I will answer them. There’s nothing serious that has happened recently. We’ll continue our work for a few more days.”
“Thank you.” Darrel nodded his head slightly.
Lightning suddenly cleared his throat and said, “Mr. Marshall, you must remember to come back. Don’t repeat what your father did. Ever since he got your mother, he forgot all about us.”
Darrel could detect an edge of bitterness. His lips curved into a smile.
“Mr. Marshall, what’s taking you so long to answer? Do you intend to abandon us?” A look of shock crossed Lightning’s face.
“Didn’t you say ‘like father, like son’? Maybe, just maybe, I’ll do what he did.” Darrel’s lips were spread in a sly smile.
“Damn it! You and your father are both heartless. But what about my plan? I’m going to travel around the world with my wife once I retire!” Lightning spoke, his tone filled with indignation.
Listening to this, Thunder turned to him and said, “You are so old yet so stupid. You have no reason to worry too much. If Mr. Marshall decides to leave, it’s our successors who should do their best to improve the gang.”
“Yes, I have already given this place my everything! When Mr. Joseph Marshall pursued his wife, I was compelled to run around here and there. How sad!”
He felt his old resentment flaring up.
However, the serious atmosphere had lightened up and now they were conversing like friends. Darrel, who was suddenly in good humor, said, “I will spend the next few days trying to familiarize myself with the internal operation of the Dragon Gang. And then later, I will go back to see my parents. After everything is settled, I will come back.”
Suspicion rose in Lightning’s heart and he said, “Mr. Marshall, can you give an exact date?”
After pondering for a while, Darrel tapped the table with his slender fingers. His eyes lit up and his thin lips opened slightly. “A month,” he said.
Lightning was satisfied with this answer. He raised his voice and said, “Okay! That’s settled then!”
As soon as Lightning finished speaking, Jane opened the door and came inside. “Mr. Marshall, are you going back to your country? I want to come with you!” she said with delight.
“Stay here and take over your father’s job,” Darrel ordered sternly.
“Can I say no? It’s just that I want to see your future…”
Before she could finish her sentence, Darrel glared at her and cut her off, “You cannot say no! It’s non-negotiable. If I replace out that you have left your post without permission, you’ll be sent to the base for another eight years.”
Darrel’s powerful side was being revealed in front of everyone. His words incurred Jane’s displeasure. On the other hand, Thunder and her father Lightning gazed at Darrel with admiration.
