The Idea

A glow in my darkness, a warmth in my heart

A unity to fill and to never feel apart

My desire and will, the will to want

The shadow is empty and quietly haunts

But why? I ask. Do I choose to live

Beside the idea, don't let it misgive

Assuring me glee, mirth, and light

It'll bring you joy all through the night

But when that honeymoon span ends

It'll soon reverse to a passive descend

The idea of becoming the talks you say

The words of how strength will lead the way

But that same idea comes from within

A human mind that surely sins

"I'll never leave you," "I'll never tell"

"I'll never put you through that kind of hell"

It's not your fault, although you did

My gate came down, when I forbid

...Because the idea sounded so great

And now it's emerged to all this hate

So let me just live with the thought

Remembering now what this has brought

The idea... is just an idea... for the one who dreams...

That it's more than a thought, but it's not what it seems

Always remember, it does not come alone

It's never realistic when the fool is prone

I suppose the idea may sound nice...

Yet not today and never twice
