Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 266 A Learned And Clever Person
"That is no small favor! It's a great kindness for northern sky military camp!" the Commander of thenorthern sky military camp exclaimed in excitement. He saluted and bowed to Rocky to show hisrespect and appreciation. Without Rocky's help, the northern sky military camp might not havesurvived. Although they all wondered how Rocky lured a swarm of wild spirit-manipulated beasts, itwas no longer important at this point. What was important was that they survived and escaped agreat tragedy. The military camp, the stronghold of the country, was not taken over and was stillunder their control. And he was still the Commander of the camp.
The Commander showed such respect to this young man who seemed to have nothing specialabout him that it surprised every soldier and spirit manipulator in the northern sky military camp.Everyone was eager to know who this man was!
"Commander, this is..." The Deputy Commander wanted to ask the Commander about Rocky.
"He is.. a learned and very clever man..." The Commander realized that he knew nothing aboutRocky other than a breeder from the northeast military camp. But he was pleasantly surprised toknow that he also had an undiscovered expertise on military strategy and tactics. Even theCommander in Chief spoke highly of his tactical array. After a moment's hesitation, he introducedhim in a way that surprised everyone present.
They knew full well that a man who was named as a learned and clever man by their Commanderwas absolutely not an ordinary person. So everyone honored him and chanted together, “Salute toyou!"
Rocky was flattered that everyone honored him like that. In his mind, he just wanted to make use ofthe troops of the military camp. But for the soldiers in the military camp, however, they thoughtRocky saved them and considered him a godsend that helped them out of the trouble. His actionsbrought an unplanned surprise and delivered him the unexpected good reputation among thetroops. The reputation was a bonus for him. What he truly cared about was for the third grade ofthree star Dark Heaven Insect to be distracted away.
"Take your men to the north. The men from Timber Deity Empire will take some time to get rid ofthe beasts..." Rocky told the Commander. The distraction went as planned. His next step was to lurethe Dark Heaven Insect and make it follow him without drawing anyone's attention.
The Commander knew Rocky's tactical skill well at this point; he did not object to Rocky's suggestedcourse of action. After Rocky finished his brief speech, the Commander asked respectfully, "May Ihave the honor to know your name?"
"I am Rocky Bai," Rocky said casually.
"Ah, Rocky! If you could help us repel the enemy onslaught and defeat them, it will be a greatservice to the empire! And we will owe this great debt to you," the Commander said. TheCommander believed that they can beat the Timber Deity Empire if Rocky would give them a handand use his tactical genius to form an array.
"I have a better idea. Do you see that Dark Heaven Insect?" Rocky had no time to help the northernsky military camp to repel the enemy. But he needed their help since he wanted to distract the thirdgrade of three star Dark Heaven Insect.
"Yes, I see it. I think you are referring to the third grade of three star one. We didn't expect this kindof rare Dark Heaven Insect would show up here. If we weren't busy defending the camp, we woulddefinitely go off to capture it and hand it over to the Crimson Dragon Group," the Commander said.Every spirit manipulator coveted a Dark Heaven Insect, let alone a third grade of three star one!"The Timber Deity Empire must want to have that Dark Heaven Insect, especially the spiritmanipulators. If that insect was led off from the main group, the covetous spirit manipulators of theTimber Deity Empire would surely try to capture it, thus dispersing their troops. And when thathappens you can ambush them, and cripple their army. Giving you the chance to wipe them outcompletely,” Rocky said in a serious and authoritative tone.
Rocky's plan was to lead off the Dark Heaven Insect by himself. Once the spirit manipulators fromTimber Deity Empire started to chase the insect, he wouldn't be able to capture it, since the TimberDeity Empire had the advantage of numbers. He wouldn't win if he fought so many soldiers. So heneeded help from the northern sky military camp.
If the spirit manipulators from the Timber Deity Empire were engaged, he could carry out his plan. And the northern sky military camp was his first choice to block off the enemy. To the northern skymilitary camp, however, it was a good strategy. Rocky would then have the chance to capture theinsect and do the northern sky military camp another favor. This would kill two birds with one stone."Such a good plan! You truly deserve the reputation. I hope we succeed with your plan." TheCommander felt good with the plan and for the first time since the attack, he believed that successwas finally possible.
"Now proceed with the evacuation north. I will take over the dangerous task of leading the DarkHeaven Insect away," Rocky said with grim determination.
"No. Not that I doubt your ability. But that is too dangerous for you to do alone. I will dispatch asquad. If anything goes wrong, how will I be able to face Commander Marin and the Commander inChief?" the Commander explained. Despite what he just said, the Commander could not help butadmire Rocky for all he saw in his eyes was the determination to see this through no matter the riskor the cost. He had no idea that Rocky was close to the sixth grade of the Earthly Stage.
"Don't worry. I have a plan. Remember that I have just led a swarm of spirit-manipulated beaststhrough here. It will be safer if I execute this plan alone. And I do not want the prestige either.Remember that we never saw each other today! Is that clear?" Rocky said in a serious tone. Whenthe Commander was about to say something in protest, he waved his hand to dismiss it.
The Commander was stunned by Rocky's request. He knew that being the key person that broughtabout the defeat of the Timber Deity Empire's invaders would bring great prestige and he'd surelybe honored by the Commander in Chief. But Rocky threw all of that away. He was either a fool or atrue genius with reasons that no ordinary man could understand.
In truth, Rocky simply neither needed nor wanted unnecessary attention to himself. If Marin foundout about his presence here, she would visit this camp and investigate why he was here. He knewthat Marin would not place any blame on him for what happened here but he was sure that shewould bother him to no end for this.
If the Commander in Chief found out that he helped the northern sky military camp in repelling theinvaders, he would definitely try to promote him to the base camp of Crimson Dragon Group again.Actually, he already wanted to promote him the last time for his performance in the Army FlagContest. But if Rocky was transferred to the base camp away from the northeast military camp, hewould lose much of the freedom and independence that he now enjoyed.
"Keeping a low profile is not as easy to achieve as anyone would think,” Rocky sighed and thendisappeared.
