Chapter 267 Rocky's Excellent Plan

On the far end of the battlefield, the wild spirit-manipulated beasts closely followed the DarkHeaven Insect. The Dark Heaven Insect was of the third grade of three-star level. Majority of the wildbeasts there were above two-star level while several were of three-star level. They were all extremelyferal. The Timber Deity Empire troops possessed no more than one thousand soldiers including afew spirit-manipulated beasts. But most of the soldiers were so overwhelmed and frightened by thesheer number of untamed and savage beasts before them that they ran in every direction wantingto get away from the area as fast as possible. The battle quickly degenerated into pure chaos. Onlythe spirit-manipulators that had their own spirit-manipulated beasts stayed to fight against the wildbeasts.

The disarray lasted for some time before the commander of the Timber Deity Empire invaders wasable to take control of his troops. He slowly but purposely created defensive formations to defendagainst the rampaging feral beasts. It took some time but the Timber invaders eventually hadstarted to take control of the situation.

To their surprise, the troops of the northern sky military camp that they had attacked mere minutesago had disappeared. The commander of the Timber Deity Empire was angry and displeased withthis turn of events. He started to wonder why the feral beasts rushed at his men instead of thetroops of the northern sky military camp. “Something does not add up, * he thought to himself.When the Timber troops and the feral beasts started to be locked in a stalemate, Rocky decided toseize the situation and let off a whistled signal to Uriah. Uriah immediately positioned itself in frontof the Dark Heaven Insect and moved back and forth as if to draw the attention of the Insect.

The insect immediately caught the scent of Uriah. Its instincts brought it into a near-frenzy state andimmediately went after Uriah. With Uriah's mission completed, it now ran towards Rocky's positionwith the insect in close pursuit.

Upon seeing this development, Rocky then ran towards the northern side of the military camp withRubygon. Uriah ran closely to Rocky's movements. And the Dark Heaven Insect followed Uriahclosely as well.

At the same time, the commander of the northern sky military camp gave the command to histroops to occupy the advantageous position of the northern side of the camp. The battle formationwas optimized for an effective ambush at this position. The only thing left for them to do was towait patiently like hunters waiting for their prey to fall into their trap.

The spirit manipulators of the Timber Deity Empire saw the Dark Heaven Insect getting lured away.Everyone knew how rare and precious the insect was especially at its current level. They knew thatthey would not be able to capture the insect, but they hoped that they could kill it at least and getan advanced Dark Heaven Egg.

The effect of an advanced Dark Heaven Egg was more powerful than an intermediate Dark HeavenEgg. Even the total effect of several intermediate Dark Heaven Eggs would not be able to match theeffect of an advanced Dark Heaven Egg.

As Rocky expected, after Uriah lured the Dark Heaven Insect, most of the spirit manipulators of theTimber Deity Empire would not be able to resist the urge to give chase, leaving the fight against theferal beasts. The timber spirit manipulators including two at the Heavenly Stage left their positionsand chased the Dark Heaven Insect. They all wanted to kill the Dark Heaven Insect and obtain theDark Heaven Egg. The commander of the Timber invaders decided not to join the chase eventhough he was a spirit manipulator at the Heaven Stage as well

No less than ten spirit manipulators from the Timber Deity Empire's troops gave chase. Thedefensive formation weakened because of the posts left by the spirit manipulators that decided tochase the Dark Heaven Insect. This made the formation fail to maintain the push against the feralbeasts that attacked them. The previously controlled situation on the battlefield quicklydegenerated into chaos once more.

The commander of the invaders was angered when he saw the situation quickly descended intochaos once more. And yet he was unable to do anything to keep the spirit manipulators behind tomaintain the defensive formation. He knew that they simply cannot give up the chance to kill theDark Heaven Insect and obtain the Dark Heaven Egg. He too was a spirit manipulator who knew thebenefits of the Dark Heaven Egg and yet he cannot leave his troops and join the chase. If he didthis, the remaining soldiers would once more feel desperate and break formation to escape. Thecommander did not like the cost of leaving his soldiers behind to chase the Dark Heaven Insect. Heknew he had to stay and keep the situation under control despite the other spirit manipulatorsleaving to chase the Dark Heaven Insect.

In the meantime, the Dark Heaven Insect tirelessly chased Uriah and they soon reached theambuscade. The commander of the northern sky military camp was amazed that Rocky's planworked. Rocky was able to lure the Dark Heaven Insect there.

Not long after, the spirit manipulators of the Timber Deity Empire who closely followed the DarkHeaven Insect soon entered the ambuscade as well.

Two of the spirit manipulators of the Timber Deity Empire were of the Heavenly Stage. Theircombined strength was therefore something that should not be taken lightly. However, the northernsky military camp also had twenty spirit manipulators and no less than one thousand soldiers. Eventhough the combined power of the northern sky military camp's spirit manipulators may be inferiorto the Timber invader’s spirit manipulators, factoring in the soldiers that fought with them made thewhole a force to be reckoned with. Moreover, these soldiers were the camp's elite force who servedas its main fighting army. The commander of the camp was sure they would be able to win thisbattle.

"Attack!" The spirit manipulators and soldiers of the camp all sprang into action when thecommander issued the command. They rushed to overwhelm the Timber invaders who fell into theirambush.

The defenders of the camp were tactically superior both in raw force and in position. Without thesupport of the rest of the Timber invaders, the small group of spirit manipulators from the TimberDeity Empire were badly over-matched.

And they were surrounded by soldiers on all sides before they even realized what was happening.The timber spirit manipulators eventually realized the folly of their greed. They fell into the trap ofthe camp defenders. From a distance, they watched Uriah lead the Dark Heaven Insect farther away.They refocused themselves and tried to break the perimeter that surrounded them

The timber spirit manipulators would have been a formidable fighting force if only they fought as asingle unit. But they fought individually with their minds still fixed in obtaining the Dark Heaven Egginstead of combining their strengths in order to possibly win the ordeal that was before them.Under such mindset, the timber spirit manipulators fought recklessly. They wanted to break free ofthe perimeter in order to save time to chase after the Dark Heaven Insect. But their efforts were likethe reeds against a raging storm. Their efforts were met by a greater force that threatened to crushand overwhelm them.

This was a moment for vengeance. The defenders of the northern sky military camp focused theirattacks as a single unit and attacked the timber spirit manipulators with the fury of soldiers that hadbeen shown cruelty just minutes ago.

The timber spirit manipulators were angry and desperate at the same time. They were angry at thecamp defenders for putting up this trap for them. They were desperate for they realized thehopeless state that they found themselves in. What they did not know was that the entire string ofevents were planned by Rocky and not the defenders of the northern sky military camp. Rocky nowran towards a remote forest as Uriah lured the insect further. It seemed that everything happenedaccording to Rocky's plan.

When they were safely concealed inside the forest, Rocky checked if any timber spirit manipulatorstill followed behind. Satisfied that no one else followed them into the forest, Rocky removed thetraces that were left behind by Uriah. Now, no one would know that the Dark Heaven Insect hadbecome Rocky's prey.

Uriah continued to lure the insect until they reached an opening among a group of trees deep inthe forest. Rocky and Rubygon also ran into the same opening.

The Dark Heaven Insect was soon overwhelmed by Rocky, Rubygon and Uriah all at the same time."Greetings my dear prey! You now have no way of escape!" Rocky said with a tone of delight. Heknew that once he killed this Dark Heaven Insect and obtained its advanced Dark Heaven Egg, hewould then be able to refine the egg to get enough spirit energy to increase his own capacity.
