Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 569 It Would Be Tough
Rocky was taken aback by what Sue said. He had never expected that she would be so confident ofhim. He heaved a slight sigh.
"I'm not God. I don't think I can save this city under such a situation. Don't expect suchextraordinary things from me,” Rocky went straight to the point. There's no use beating around thebush!
Sue looked away, as she felt a little sad upon his words.
"You brat! I know you're a modest man but we need hope. And now, it seems that no one can saveus in this city. Someone told me that Lance was attacked by Timber Deity Empire on the way here, Ihope he is safe and unharmed..." Sheridan mumbled, suddenly sounding sober.
"I don't have any idea about what happened to him," Rocky answered while shaking his head, disbelieving all the misfortunes that had come their way. A moment ago, Commander Wang gavethe Crimson Dragon Token to him, and mentioned that it was Lance's order. By doing so, Lancepassed the message that something bad had taken place unexpectedly, and he was unable to makeit to Evian City as planned.
"I know you're here to pick up Sue. You need to hurry. Please take off as soon as possible. Theenemy's at the door. Since Lance couldn't do it, it's my turn to get the work done," Sheridangrumbled in an imposing manner. A drunken old man he might be but he was still sharp in mindand his senses were always alert.
"Okay, well then. Take the girl with you, Rocky. I'll stay here. I just can't stand by and watch thembreak the city. Go and wait for me at the north of the city. If we lose, I'll go and join you there,”Sabina cut in after thinking for a few seconds, considering all their choices and its consequences. She gave Rocky a determined look, one that would not entertain any arguments.
Rocky got what both of them meant, and he instantly set his mind with the task at hand. He noddedat them and whistled, calling for his majestic beast, and Uriah came down from the sky immediatelywith a beautiful descent.
"Oh, when did this beast break through to the four-star? So unbelievable!" Sheridan exclaimed, shocked by the sudden appearance of Uriah. It had been a while since the last time he saw Rocky'sbeast, no wonder that he was surprised to see it again. Uriah was flapping its giant flaming wings inthe air. Sheridan was left speechless by the beautiful and glorious results of Uriah's mutation.
"Oh, only recently, I guess..." Rocky replied.
"It is indeed a splendid spiritual beast, just like what I said before, and I would like to say that you'reso lucky to have such a rare species. It's very talented. Just think about it. It only took such a shorttime to break the three-star to four-star. What can I say?" Sheridan continued, rubbing his chin, amused at the beast. As far as he was concerned, it was the only one he had ever known in hiswhole life.
"So long. We'd better go now," Rocky bid them goodbye, nodding at Sue to come over, andtogether they jumped on Uriah's back. When they were finally settled and ready to fly, he said toSabina, "We'll wait for you outside the north gate.” Then he touched the beast's neck and theysoared into the sky.
Both Sheridan and Sabina watched them take off until they were out of their sight. They looked ateach other for a moment, before Sabina's attention darted somewhere else. She watched the wall, wondering what they should do next.
"Hey, young lady, I didn't expect you to reach the Supernal Stage at such a young age. You musthave practiced very diligently!" Sheridan said with interest.
"I'm greatly flattered, Master Xu," Sabina said modestly.
"But I'm curious, why are you together with Rocky? I don't understand. And I can tell that you careabout him very much,” Sheridan continued shrewdly, a teasing smile playing in his lips. For a man ofhis age, he was pretty aware of the things going on among young people. He could tell just fromthe way Sabina looked at Rocky. Her gaze carried so many feelings.
"I care about him? That's only because I was ordered to protect him. Of course, I have to look afterhim and it doesn't mean anything else. Don't make fun of this, Master Xu!" Sabina explainedhurriedly, shaking her head furiously. She could feel her face heating up.
"Protect him? You are not a member of the Crimson Dragon Group, and I believe that you won'ttake orders from Lance. As a master-hand of your level, I guess the one who ordered you must bevery powerful. Am I right?" Sheridan was surprised to hear what Sabina said, and he felt bad that heimmediately jumped to his own conclusions.
"Sorry, Master Xu. I am forbidden from answering your question," Sabina said with an apologeticlook. She could not tell Sheridan that it was Marcia who ordered her to protect Rocky. It was not theway they worked.
"Well, if you don't want to talk about it, I won't ask. Let's go and have a look at what the CrimsonDragon Army are doing now. I bet they're cats on hot bricks now..." Sheridan suggested, droppingthe topic of who the secret person was, which relieved Sabina. At least the master wasn't nosy orprying. Sabina gladly followed Sheridan.
Meanwhile, Uriah was taking Rocky and Sue to the north gate of Evian City. Rocky and Sue held fastand tight on Uriah as they flew in the sky. On their way there, they saw throngs and hordes ofpeople heading to the same path as them. There were too many people, and it was chaotic. Peoplewere screaming and crying for help, while some were just confused. Apparently, they were allpanicking, pushing against and stepping on each other to get to the gate as soon as possible. Thesemust be the civilians of the city, and they wanted to get out of the city, afraid of being affected orinvolved in the coming fight.
But the north gate was already closed. Dozens of soldiers were standing guard in front of the gate, armed with swords, blocking the way out of the city.
"What is going on here? Why are they not allowing the civilians to go out? It's none of theirbusiness!" Sue shouted behind Rocky, her eyebrows furrowed.
"The war will start any minute now, but why won't they open the gate? It's strange,” Rocky replied. He pulled a long face. He had no idea who ordered the soldiers to do so, but whoever he was, hemust be an idiot. If they didn't open the gate and let the civilians out, the civilians might get inconflict with the soldiers, and it would be inevitable to cause injury or even death. If things went on,the civilians might rise in rebellion. And if the spies from Timber Deity Empire intended to stir upmore trouble, the Crimson Dragon Group might lose this city before the sun rose tomorrow. Rightthere and then, the Timber Deity Empire would take it without losing any of their soldiers.
"Do something to help them, Mr. Bai! We can't let them die!" Sue yelled and pleaded to Rocky, pulling on his shoulders.
Rocky hesitated for a moment and then nodded. He put his hand on Uriah, who responded with aroar. It spread its wings and swooped down, and then landed so swiftly.
On the ground, the civilians caught sight of the flames caused by the flying beast. Next they saw adragon flying down from the sky. Frightened, they scattered in all directions, making an open spaceon the ground perfect for Uriah's descent.
Uriah took the time to land on the clearing. The civilians around them were stunned. They stoppedall their arguments, even the children stopped crying, and all their eyes turned to Uriah and its tworiders. No one dared to take any step closer to the beast.
Not far away, the soldiers in front of the gate also saw the beast landing, but they were unable toget a closer look because of the crowd in front of them. But they guessed that it was a spirit-manipulated beast.
Rocky jumped down from Uriah's back, and walked with grace and confidence towards the gatethrough the parted crowd and stood his ground without outwardly speaking his power, leaving thecrowd astounded. Soon, he came face to face with the city guards.
"Open the gate..." Rocky told to the soldiers coldly. He didn't raise his voice, and it remainedmonotone and he sounded calm but there was power and pressure in his words.
"Who the hell are you? Fuck off!" The tall thin man, who looked like the leader of the troop and alsoa spirit manipulator, challenged Rocky. He burst into curses as soon as he heard Rocky order themto open the gate of the city so arrogantly without looking him in the eye. Of course, he was not ableto detect Rocky's hidden power because he was so consumed by the thought that he was morepowerful than anyone there.
Rocky narrowed his eyes, and the captain immediately sensed the overwhelming power comingfrom him. He stepped away from Rocky subconsciously.
