Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 753 A New Spotlight
"It's none of your business!" Lena shouted angrily. The only thought that ran in her mind wasavenging Basil.
"Hold on, Lena!" Marcia stepped in the way of Lena and prevented her from dashing out.
"Get out of my way, Marcia! She's the one who killed Basil. I'm going to end her! Even if it won'tbring Basil back!" Lena didn't understand why Marcia stopped her, when Marcia should instead killthat woman with her.
"Lena, please stop for a moment and think about what you're going to do. If what she said was true, then we need to look into it first before acting hastily. It will also be disrespectful to Basil if youattack her in his mourning hall.” Marcia analyzed the situation calmly.
As Marcia said this, Lena stopped struggling. She sneered, as she kept her eyes on Alyssa, stillcasting her a murderous look.
Alyssa also withdrew her spiritual power when she saw Lena withdrew hers. She only wanted to payrespects to Basil. Alyssa looked at Marcia as a sign of thanks as she walked inside the mourning hall. She then burned an incense to worship.
"Why did you die? Every time I tried to kill you, you managed to get away. It's like you have ninelives or something," Alyssa said teasingly. "But why can't you stay alive this time? My only hope diedwith you. It's not fair. I hate you!" She gritted her teeth while staring at Basil's coffin, her eyes filledwith resentment and her body shaking lightly.
Marcia and Lena, who were watching from the mourning hall entrance, were very surprised to seeAlyssa's expression because as far as they know, Alyssa and Rocky were enemies.
Out of nowhere, a group of dragons flew over, blocking out the sun and covering the sky. They werefast approaching the Holy Dragon Imperial Tomb.
News of Alyssa entering the imperial tomb had already reached the emperor. He was shocked tohear this since Alyssa's country was at war with them. The emperor burst into a fit after realizing thatan enemy easily got through their defenses. He immediately called for a royal member of the DivineStage to catch her with the help of several master-hands of the Supernal Stage. Meanwhile, dozensof spirit-manipulators of the Heavenly Stage from the royal family were already on their way to theHoly Dragon Imperial Tomb.
After putting down the incense, Alyssa turned to Marcia and said, "I believe his death is suspicious.I'll look further into it to replace out the real reason. If I'm lucky enough to replace the man who did this,I'll kill him myself. If you have any information that might help with my search, please give it to meas soon as possible. In exchange, I will call for a temporary cease fire between the Timber DeityEmpire and the Holy Dragon Empire.” Alyssa then jumped into the air and flew away.
"Wait, don't go!" Lena shouted. She wouldn't let her go so easily. If she let Alyssa leave, who knewhow long it would take for them to meet again. But before she could chase after her, Marciastopped her.
"Let her go. I trust that what she said was true." Marcia could tell this from the way Alyssa behavedin the mourning hall. And she was going to prove it as soon as she could.
"Even so, we can't just let her come and go as she pleases!" Lena replied with a frown.
"We're the same, and she's not an ordinary human,” Marcia hinted under her breath.
"She's the same as you? Are you sure?” Lena asked in surprise.
Marcia nodded without saying anything more. She had heard lots of things about Alyssa before, butfrom what Alyssa told Lena a moment ago, she was certain that she and Alyssa were the same, aspecial being, neither human nor spiritual creature.
Meanwhile, a giant beast floating in the sky swooped down to catch Alyssa and they made waytowards their country. The master-hands who were tasked by the emperor to catch her wasted notime and chased after her. But they were a step too slow and she easily got away unscathed.
The sudden appearance of Alyssa made the death of Basil more mysterious. It was still unknownwhether Marcia could unravel the truth and replace out that Basil was still actually alive.
At the same time, Isis was sent back to the Crimson Palace in the Palace City so that the imperialdoctors could make their diagnosis. Marin and Sabina were pacing back and forth outside, worriedwhat might happen to Isis.
Shortly after Isis arrived, the emperor appeared at the front steps of the Crimson Palace.
"Your Majesty!" Sabina and Marin stopped pacing to bow at the emperor.
He came to check how Isis was doing as soon as he received the news.
"How is Isis?" the emperor asked worriedly. Isis was his daughter-in-law, and after losing Basil, hecouldn't afford another bad news.
As if on cue, the doctors finished their diagnosis and came out of Isis’ bedroom.
"Doctor Li, how about she? Is she seriously ill?" the emperor asked impatiently, with his handscrossed behind his back so they would stop shaking.
"Your Majesty, she is not sick, rather she's is pregnant. Congratulations! It's her first month ofpregnancy. You're going to be a wonderful grandfather, Your Majesty! Please let me congratulateagain!" Doctor Li delightedly replied, cupping one hand over the other over his chest.
"What?" The emperor couldn't believe what he heard. "You said that Isis is carrying Basil's baby?" Ittook a moment for the news to sink in. His faced lit up and he thanked God in his heart that Basilleft a child to the royal family. Maybe this was God's will, giving him a chance to make up for hisprevious regrets.
Both Sabina and Marin beamed upon hearing the surprising news, especially Marin, who grinnedfrom ear to ear with tears in her eyes.
"Isn't the relationship between the prince and my cousin fake?" Marin whispered into Sabina's ears.Apparently, she was confused. It was something unexpected.
Sabina made no comment, but she nodded at Marin with a pleasant smile. It was a smile of rejoice. She was glad to have helped Isis. If not, Isis wouldn't get pregnant, and there would be regrets. While reminiscing, she suddenly remembered the last words Basil told her.
'lt seems that I can't escape anymore, for his sake, * she thought to herself. Sadness pierced Sabina'sheart like a cold dagger. She made up an excuse and left the Crimson Palace.
Meanwhile, Lance came to the Crimson Palace as soon as he heard the news. He let out a grin uponseeing the emperor. Nothing could make him happier than having a grandchild.
When Isis woke up and found out she bore the child of Basil, she was flooded with conflictingemotion. She was happy for herself because she was going to be a mother, but at the same timeshe couldn't help but feel sad for Basil because he didn't have a chance to be a father, more so forthe child who would grow up without a father.
The news that Isis was pregnant with Basil's baby spread like wildfire all over the Palace City, whichshocked the citizens. Basil had been crowned Prince Crimson after he died, meaning the baby couldinherit his title when it was born. If the baby was a boy, he would be the youngest one who got atitle in the history of the Holy Dragon Empire. If it was a girl, she would be a princess whom theemperor would give everything she wanted. Regardless, if the child could inherit even just a bit oftheir father's brilliant talent, the empire would have a promising future.
In the following days, members of the royal family and military officials went to the Crimson Palaceto greet Isis and her child. Not long after, the palace became completely flooded to the point thatthe emperor had to order a ban, worried that it might have a negative effect on his grandchild. Evenstill, the focus of the entire Imperial City was Basil's unborn child.
