Chapter 860 Know Nothing About Beast Curing

Similar to the beast evaluation competition, the beast curing competition was to see who could bestdiagnose the injuries and illnesses of the spirit-manipulated beast and then administer propertreatment. The five judges would review the diagnoses and the treatment methods adopted by thecompetitors before coming to a conclusion about the winner.

This competition also had three rounds, so the clan which won two or more rounds would becomethe ultimate winner. To be claimed the champion, a clan would need to defeat all three beast curersfrom the other clan.

After the first beast curers of both the clans assumed their positions, two spirit-manipulated beasts,which looked rather weak, were brought out and placed on the table in front for them to make adiagnosis.

Wasting no time, Travis and the beast curer from the Qi Clan immediately began checking theirrespective beasts.

Amidst this tense atmosphere, the audience couldn't help but notice something strange. Althoughthe beast curer from the Qi Clan had finished his diagnosis and started administering thecorresponding treatment on his beast, Travis was still taking his time on his diagnosis. He lookedrather laid-back as if he was on vacation and not at a competition.

"What the hell is our brother doing?" Mary asked with a perplexed expression on her face. She knewTravis's ability well; by right, he should have finished diagnosing the beast long ago. So why was hestanding there doing nothing?

The members of the Cao Clan had also noticed Travis's abnormal behavior and exchanged confusedglances with each other. It almost seemed like he was slacking off on purpose.

On the other side, Alexander, the chief of the Qi Clan, cracked a knowing smile in their waiting area."I bet the Cao Clan won't be able to figure out what's going on even if they rack their brains for anexplanation. "Those who do not have justice on their side will get little help. They should blame themselves forgoing against the will of the people,” Tate added and cast a stern glance at the Cao Clan on theother side.

"What?" Juey shouted, echoing everyone's sentiments out loud.

"Mr. Rookie, may I ask why? Miss Juey isn't proficient at the Beast Curing Skill. Even if we lose thefirst round, there are still two more rounds to go. If Yang can wake up in time, we'll still have achance to win," Lucas cut in before Lucilla could reply. He thought that Rocky wanted Juey to go upon the stage because he believed that the Cao Clan was entirely devoid of hope. Juey had becomethe chief of the Xiao Clan, and if she showed up there, it might be good for both herself and herclan.

"Mr. Rookie, I agree with Lucas. I'm sorry, but we won't give up until the last moment,” Lucillareplied. She also knew that the Cao Clan had a very slim chance of winning now, but she did notwant to give up so easily.

"But can't you see, Chief Lucilla? Travis has been bought off by the Qi Clan," Rocky said bluntly."What? How could it be?" Lucilla shouted, almost collapsing from her chair in shock, but the nextmoment, everything seemed to make sense to her.

Beside Mary, Juey also shook her head at Rocky.

"How can you be so sure that he has been bought off, Mr. Rookie?" Lucas asked. As a matter of fact,he had also guessed the same thing, but they had no proof at the moment.

But he had hardly finished his words when the spirit-manipulated beast in front of Travis suddenlyfoamed at its mouth. It twitched a few times and then died in despair.

The audience gasped in shock and whispered to each other, pointing at the dramatic turn.Meanwhile, the members of the Cao Clan all stared at the stage, tongue-tied, as the beast took itslast breath.

"See, do you believe my words now?" Rocky said with a sigh, sweeping his eyes across the membersof the Cao Clan. He was not surprised at all.

"Oh, what did you do, Travis? I can't believe it!" Mary cried, shaking her head in disappointment.Juey also widened her eyes in shock.

"That bastard! How dare he betray the Cao Clan? I'm going to kill him now!" Queenie roared,clenching her fist in anger. She would have rushed up and killed Travis right then if there were notso many people around.

"Everything is clear now. I'm afraid that Yang's heart attack was not an accident either,” Rocky addedwith narrowed eyes.

Upon hearing this, Lucilla became a little flustered. If Rocky's guess was right, then the Cao Clan wasdoomed. They had been pushed into a corner.

"Mr. Rookie, can you tell us why you want Miss Juey to participate in the second round? We'd beglad to hear it,” Lucas suddenly said. Having gone through a lot of ups and downs in his life, he wasable to remain calm and think clearly even in such a desperate situation.

"I have a plan in mind. If you want the Cao Clan to win, just listen to me and send Juey to the stage,”Rocky said firmly.

"Are you sure about that, Mr. Rookie? I need to remind you that Juey knows nothing about beastcuring! She has never been trained,” Mary cut in. Having grown up with Juey, she knew better thananyone that Juey had no talent in beast curing whatsoever, let alone enough talent to turn the tideand win the contest for the Cao Clan

"Don’t you want to know why I insisted that Juey be the chief of your clan? You will understand aftershe goes onto the stage,” Rocky said with a smirk, glancing at Mary. Then, he looked at Lucilla forher opinion. As long as Lucilla agreed, things would go smoothly.

However, Lucilla still hesitated, unable to make up her mind.

"Right now, we have no other choice but to try Mr. Rookie's idea,” Lucas chimed in from behind.Even if they called other beast curers from their clan now, there was no telling if they would be ableto win the competition. Besides, they didn't have the time. On the other hand, it was clear thatRocky had a plan. Lucas was inclined to trust him since he had witnessed firsthand how Rocky hadwon the beast evaluation contest for them the other day. If there was any chance of them winning,it would be because of Rocky. They had no choice but to place a bet on him.

Lucilla trusted Lucas, so she was finally swayed by his words. She bit her lip and turned to Juey. "Allright, Miss Juey, get ready for the coming round. You're our only hope, so do your best! Don't let usdown.”

Although Lucilla’s words were meant to be encouraging, Juey became a little uneasy after hearingthem. She had promised Rocky that she would go all out, but this was the first time she would everparticipate in a contest, so she felt nervous. Besides, she was worried that she wouldn't be able towin.

Seeing the anxious expression on her face, Rocky walked over to her and smiled. He took out thesurgical tools bag that he usually used and handed it to her. "Don't forget your promise to me. Justdo your best. I know you can do it!"

Looking at the ground, Juey took a deep breath. Then, she raised her head and nodded firmly atRocky. Slowly but steadily, she reached out her hands and took the bag from him.
