Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 916 A Breakthrough
Whether the larvae of the Dark Heaven Insects could complete their gene modification and breakthrough to the next level was crucial, and it was also the primary objective of Rocky's experiment.
In the blink of an eye, a few hours passed. Outside of the Magic Spiritual Space, the moon wasshining brightly in the sky with stars twinkling around like diamonds.
When he finally finished his work and called it a day, Rocky walked out of the Magic Spiritual Space, rubbing his temples. He ordered the Rainbow Glow Unicorn to return before heading back to thehouse. But when he got there, he was surprised to replace someone who was up as late as he was.“Why hasn't she gone to sleep yet? he wondered. Queenie was sitting there with her foreheadwrinkled in concentration. She was busy with dismembering the body of a dead spirit-manipulatedbeast. But because she had just begun her study on it, the body looked grotesque, with all itsinternal organs scattered around.
He had intended to watch her from a distance, but when he saw her fumbling around helplessly, hecould not help but let out a laugh.
Upon hearing the sound of his laughter, Queenie came to her senses and raised her head. Her faceimmediately soured when she saw who was in front of her.
"That's enough for today. Go and take rest,” Rocky said, the smile on his face disappearing.
"No!" Queenie shook her head in a huff and then lowered her eyes to the body of the beast again. She refused to believe that she wouldn't be able to finish it today.
"If you go on like this, I'm afraid that you won't be able to dismember the carcass until dawn," Rockyremarked
"It's none of your business,” Queenie replied, slightly pouting. She was only in this embarrassingsituation now because of Rocky, so she wouldn't be tricked by him, even if he was pretending to benice to her now.
Rocky chuckled to himself. Since Queenie insisted on struggling on, he felt obligated to help herout. After a moment of hesitation, he strode forward.
"Here, you should start from here.” He just ignored Queenie's attitude and, covering her hand withhis, showed her how to dismember the carcass with the tool in her hand.
At first, Queenie could not focus at all. She kept getting distracted by how close Rocky was to herand the touch of his hand. Her face flushed a deep shade of red. But after a while, her attention wascompletely pulled to what Rocky was showing her.
The two of them were so focused that time slipped by, and two hours passed without their noticingit. Queenie finally finished the dismemberment of a spirit-manipulated beast's body for the firsttime in her life with Rocky's guidance.
"Thank God! It's finally done.” She let out a sigh of relief and realized that she was sweating all over.It was as if all her strength had been used up by dismembering this carcass. It had been a greatchallenge for her.
"Not bad. You have mastered some basic skills in such a short time," Rocky praised from behind. When he noticed that she was startled by his voice, he curled his lips into a small smirk.
It was only after Rocky spoke that Queenie remembered how close he was to her. She turnedaround immediately, planning to teach him a lesson to vent her anger. However, the moment sheturned around, her eyes met Rocky's. They were only a few millimeters apart, almost nose to nosewith each other. She could even hear his breathing clearly. Her mind went complete blank and sheunconsciously stared into his eyes, which were as dark as the vast ocean. Feeling as if she was goingto drown in them, she let out a shaky breath.
Of course, Rocky noticed the way she was looking at him and smiled dimly. But before he could saysomething to mock her as usual, he sensed a familiar, strong aura outside the room. He immediatelystepped away from Queenie and cast a glance at the door. "It's getting late. You'd better go back tohave a rest first. Come back tomorrow morning!" Then, before Queenie could even react, he quicklywalked out of the room.
Queenie's eyes followed him until he was out of sight. She had been overcome by an unfamiliarfeeling just now, as if she had been falling down in a bottomless hole. For a moment, she hadcompletely forgotten who she was and where she was. The only thing in her mind had been Rocky.Outside, Rocky had hardly taken a few steps when he saw a delicate figure appear in front of him."How did you replace this place?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Don't bother to ask. I can replace you easily even if you dig a deep hole and bury yourself in it! But Iguess I should apologize for disturbing you," sneered the figure with a clear trace of sourness in hervoice. Of course, it was Alyssa. Except for the proud princess, nobody would talk to Rocky this way."I believe that Your Highness must be quite occupied. Don't you have other things to deal with? Youcome to see me so punctually every night,” Rocky said with a wry smile, changing the subject. As faras he knew, Alyssa had to deal with a myriad of affairs every day due to her current position in theTimber Deity Empire. Thus, he couldn't understand how she could come to see him at the sametime for three consecutive nights.
Alyssa rolled her eyes in response, but didn't tell him that he was right. She had indeed been busyrecently, especially since the emperor was seriously ill. More and more burden fell onto hershoulders, and she had to be in charge of many of the state affairs of the Timber Deity Empire.Nevertheless, her priority was still to get rid of the curse. She was so obsessed with it that she wasn'table to have a sound sleep at night. She had no choice but to squeeze out time to focus on gettingrid of it as soon as possible.
Seeing the expression on Alyssa's face, Rocky waved his hand and said, "Never mind; just forget it.""Let's go," Alyssa said flatly.
The next moment, the two of them turned into shadows and disappeared from where they werestanding.
As usual, they spent the whole night cultivating together.
Alyssa tried some new methods, but still made no progress. The curse had responded during thefirst time they had cultivated together, but it had stopped responding after that. Needless to say,she was frustrated. Success seemed to be in sight, but it refused to come closer. Trying to removethe curse was like torture.
When they finished their cultivation and were about to return, Rocky suddenly stopped and grinnedas if something had just occurred to him. "By the way, I have a small request. I wonder if YourHighness can grant it," he asked.
"You know there is no such thing as a free lunch. Whatever it is, you have to pay. I'm guessing it'ssomething very troublesome." Noting the wide smile on Rocky's face, Alyssa grimaced.
