"Did the altar just self-destruct? Or maybe it finally collapsed because of the ancient spiritual beastthat had been here for all these years." The female voice behind the curtain hesitated for a momentafter Alyssa spoke, and she sounded a little surprised. She asked hesitantly, "Where is the ancientspiritual beast now?"

"It fell into the abyss together with the altar," Alyssa replied and cast a quick glance at Rocky at thesame time.

"Did it?" She sounded even more puzzled. The altar had been there for a long time, and yet nothinghappened to it. So what prompted its self-destruction so abruptly? It was a question that she couldnot figure out.

Seeing her confusion, Alyssa nodded her head solemnly. Although she felt sorry for lying to hergrandma, she had no choice in the matter. She didn't want to get Rocky involved, so it was worththe risk.

"Then, I will report to the patriarch what I heard from you." The confusion in her voice was gone toAlyssa's relief. It seemed that she trusted Alyssa enough to believe whatever she said. Alyssa wasboth pleased and wracked with guilt.

"Grandma, do you have any advice for me? What should I do?" Alyssa asked, blinking her beautifuleyes innocently.

"Young man, can you wait outside for a moment?" The voice behind the curtain said to Rocky thistime.

Rocky shrugged his shoulders casually, but he threw a questioning glance at Alyssa. When sheinclined her head in a subtle nod, he turned around and walked out.

"My dear, I have checked all the secret manuals of the spiritual race, but I haven't found any otherway to remove the curse. I'm afraid that it is the only way..." The voice from behind the curtaintrailed off and released a sorrowful sigh.

"Is that the only way?" Alyssa's eyes darkened. If that was the only way, she would have to make adecision soon.

"My dear, please do what your heart tells you to do. Don't push yourself too hard. It might not be agood thing for you to become a member of the spiritual race. No one can promise you anything!"The voice spoke in a soft and comforting tone as if it was a mother pacifying her child.

"Are you saying that I should just live my life as a normal human woman? I don't think so. You knowI can't do that!" Alyssa replied with a bitter smile.

"It's hard to say, my dear. Some time ago, you believed that no one in this world can remove thecurse on you, didn't you? But do you see what faith had planned for you? You finally found him.What's more, I can see that you care about him very much.” The voice behind the curtain seemed tosee through whatever was happening between Alyssa and Rocky, but of course, Alyssa was deep indenial

After walking out of the tree house, Alyssa was met with the sight of Rocky, who was standingoutside with his hands behind his back and looking into the distance. It seemed that he was lost inhis thoughts.

"It's time to go back. Let's go," Alyssa called out distractedly. The conversation between her and hergrandma still lingered at the back of her mind. At that moment, her mind was filled with a hailstormof thoughts. She looked down on the ground and took a deep breath.

"It seems that your grandma didn't bring you any good news," Rocky remarked when he turnedaround and saw the bitterness on Alyssa's face.

She didn't bother answering. She just looked at him balefully, still hearing her grandma's voice inher head, and called out her spiritual beast. She jumped on its back as soon as it was close enough,while Rocky jumped behind her, shaking his head. At that moment, he was puzzled by her foulmood, as he thought about how difficult it was to read her moods. He really didn't know how to getalong with this woman. She could be smiling one moment and frowning at the next. He could nothelp but wonder what her grandma said to put her into such a tizzy.

Silent as a grave, the two of them left the Spiritual Pasture Valley riding the spiritual beast.

Half a day later, they arrived at the Cao Mansion. Alyssa dropped Rocky at the gate and left withoutspeaking a word to him.

He watched as she disappeared from his sight with a confused frown, for he was still in the dark onwhy she was acting so weird. He shook his head when she disappeared from his sight, shaking awaythe thought of her that lingered in his head. After all, he should not think of it as a big deal. Womenwere sentimental.

Rocky walked inside to replace Lucilla first, and he immediately found her dealing with the clan's affairsin the Magnificent Hall. A brilliant smile lit up her face as soon as she spotted Rocky. With a bit ofimpatience, she nodded at the clerk who was discussing with her, hurriedly dismissing him.

"You are back! Did everything go well?" Lucilla asked softly when they were alone. She had risenfrom the chair, and Rocky could not help but watch, as she sashayed toward him. After that night,she had figured out how to get along with Rocky. She decided that from that night forward, shewould be treating Rocky as normally as she could. Thus, she received him naturally when they metagain at this moment, and she acted as if she was nothing but a young lady of a big noble family."Everything went well. I guess nothing has happened since I left, right?" Rocky asked, noddingslightly.

"Yes. It's very strange. After that day, the Qi Clan suddenly became quiet, and I haven't heard anymovements from them. It was weird.” Lucilla shook her head with a confused expression. She hadthought that the Qi Clan wouldn't give up easily after being humiliated on her birthday, and theywould surely take revenge. If Tate wanted to kill him, he wouldundoubtedly plan it well, so shouldn't he be anxious? Of course, she had no idea that Rocky hadbecome a master of the Supernal Stage in the three days that he was away. He was far stronger thanTate now.

"I think I should send a few masters of our clan to protect you, Mr. Rookie. They can guard youagainst any attacks,” Lucilla suggested after thinking for a while.
