REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON
Chapter 101: Fading Bonds

AXEL'S POV

My heart grew heavy as her body jerked twice and that was it, she was gone.

"What is going on?" I asked Amira as I heard the machine connected to Lyra go silent.

I knew had happened but I didn't want to believe it because once I believed it, it will become real.

But it was already real because I could feel the loss. I could feel my wolf fully and he was howling loudly in pain. A sharp pain coursed through me from my chest and I could do nothing but hold my chest and fall to the ground. Tears voluntarily fell from my eyes as I was life drain from Lyra's body.

"Amira do something!" I screamed.

I could not accept it. This can't be true. Lyra cannot die, I will not let her die.

"Lyra please, please open your eyes," I begged her as tears flowed voluntarily from my eyes.

Amira sent all the nurses and doctor's out of the room while I bawled my eyes out I had never cried like this in my entire life, even went my parents got into an accident and now I am crying my eyes out without any form of shame. I held unto Lyra's hand and Amira came in to clean her body. I have been like this one the floor for about four hours now.

I had a sour taste in my mouth and I felt life has lost it's meaning. I wanted to kill myself but I couldn't do that because I had an entire pack to take care of even though I didn't feel like it. "Axel you need to get up from the ground. You could catch cold and you have to leave, I need to clean her body and do the final rituals for her burial," Amira said with tears in her eyes. "Don't say that Amira, don't say that. Lyra cannot be dead. She will wake up soon, she is just resting" I said trying to convince myself as fresh tears rolled down my face. "Okay then, let me just clean her up. Lyra would want to wake up feeling her body all sticky," Amira said and I nodded as I stood up and went outside.

I stood there and waited till Amira came to call me.

"Axel there is something wrong with Lyra. I don't think she is dead," She whispered harshly to me.

"What do you mean my that?" I asked quickly feeling a rush of relief.

"I don't know but look," Amira said as she removed Lyra's hair from her neck and I saw that her mark was cleaning of. It was fading.

"Amira see," I pointed to her eyelids where tears were flowing our from her eyes.

"I don't think she is dead," Amira said.

"Let me call the guards to take her to her room," I said to Amira who nodded.

I suddenly felt alive because I could feel our mate bond. It was not so strong but it was there. My wolf stopped howling and calmed down.

She will wake up, she will open her eyes soon. I don't care how long it takes but I know that she will open her eyes. I thought to myself as we carried her to her room. LYRA'S POV

We walked to the bank of the stream and mother told me to sit while she sat beside me.

"Let this relieve you from the mate which is not yours," mother said as she poured the water on my neck and I felt a sharp pain that brought tears to my eyes but refreshment to my body. "Ahh!" I shouted as the pain grew a little bit intense then it ended.

"It has been cleared. You are now free and you are no longer mated to anyone," mother told me and I nodded before putting my head on my shoulder.

I felt exactly how she said I would feel but, tears still flowed from my eyes. I had lost my mate and for once I thought it was okay. I looked forward to what life had in store for me and I was excited for what was to come. KYLE'S POV

I was asleep and it was one of those dreams that Lyra hunts. This time she wasn't looking at me in pain. This time she was smiling at me and it scared me. I don't know why but I felt it would be better for her to still be mad at me because I know that if she is angry, she was still in love with me and was still holding on to me. I don't know where she went and I can't track her.

I tried using her hair that is still embedded in my arm but it did not work, instead her hair came out from my skin and I knew I could never track her again.

I have been leading a miserable life ever since and it is a lie, it doesn't get better with time. It gets worse, way worse and there is nothing you can really do. Aria and Merida left the day after Lyra left and my father has been doing things in a very depressing manner.

Sometimes, I just wish I could say no to him and leave the pack to replace Lyra. But his validation means so much to me.

Today's dream, Lyra was staring a me with a smile and she was waving me good bye. I wanted to bed her and say something but I couldn't and then she spoke.

"I have broken of the last thing keeping us together for my own peace and I wish you peace and happiness too, till we meet again," she smiled and she faded. "Lyra!" I screamed I as woke up.

I suddenly felt a sharp pain on my neck and I quickly ran to the mirror.

I looked at my neck and I noticed that it was empty.

My mate's mark was gone.
