Chapter 102: Hidden Scars

LYRA'S POV

"Child now you can go back to the world of the living." Mother said to me as she hugged me.

I turned and was about to leave when she called me back, "Lyra, don't forget what I told you." She said to me.

"Okay mother," I nodded and enter the void that separated the dead from the living.

"Ha," I gasped as I woke up and I was hit with a very strong alluring scent of rain and cinnamon.

"Lyra, you are awake," Axel exclaimed as he stirred awake.

"Mate," the word left my lips before I could understand what I said.

Axel stopped on his tracks.

"What did you say?" he asked me with soft eyes.

"Mate," I repeated softly.

"You can feel it? The mate bond?" he asked excitedly.

"Yes, I can feel it," I nodded.

Still feeling confused, I asked "Why can I feel a mate bond between us?"

"It is because we are mated Lyra," he said to me.

"Oh," I said stunned by his reply.

"Are you sure?" I asked again even though I knew it was a stupid question.

He just smiled and shook his head.

"Alright I am leaving now, you need to rest," he said to me.

"Okay good night," I smiled at him and went to bed.

"Hey beautiful girl," Amira walked into my room shouting.

"Hi, good morning," I said yawning.

"How was your night?" she asked.

"It was good and yours?" I replied.

"It was wonderful. Now rise and shine because we are going to get you beautiful things to elevate your mood," Amira smiled. "Where is Axel?" I questioned.

"He is fine, and in his office. Are you missing him?" She wiggled her brows at me.

"Hey!" I screamed.

"What? I was just asking boo," she laughed while I turned red.

She obviously saw the attraction between us and knowing Amira, I know she wouldn't keep quiet.

I had my shower and got dressed.

We walked downstairs towards the entrance door and we were stopped by the beta.

"Hi, Amira and um," he said not knowing my name.

"Lyra," Amira finished for him.

"Hi Lyra, I am David," He said.

"Hi David," I shook his hand.

He walked into the house while I turned to look at Amira who was staring at him like a lost puppy. "Who is that?" I asked.

"My first love," she sighed dreamily.

"What?" I asked stunned and speechless.

"I mean he is the beta," she said quickly as she understood what she had just said.

"And your first love," I said looking at her, she paused and she nodded.

"What happened? Why do you look so sad?" I asked her.

"I will be sad if I talk about it and I won't be able to go shopping anymore and I will make you feel sad when I came here to cheer you up," she said as her eyes became teary.

I held her hand and we walked back to my room, I closed the door and I made her to sit down.

"Look I know what it feels like to be heartbroken and not have anybody to talk about it with, so I will ask you to tell me. What happened between you too. If you don't want to talk about it, it is fine. We can eat snacks and watch movies," I said to her.

"Okay, I will tell you about it but first, we need to get some ice cream, chocolate and all my comfort foods from the kitchen." She said to me.

"Okay let's do that," I said to her as we stood up and went to get all the comfort food we could replace.

"Okay, so I met David when we were four years old and he had been the love of my life ever since then even though we were small and didn't really know what love was. He always promised me that I was the love of his life and he will marry me. When we turned fifteen, we started dating and he was all my firsts, when we turned eighteen, he went for his beta, training and I was scared because we had never been apart from each other for so long and he promised me that when we come back, we will get married. But things don't always go as planned," she stared at me as tears dropped from her eyes.

"What happened? I asked.

"When he came back, he came with Naomi. His mate. he apologized to me and told me that he found her in his training camp and that she was also from a beta lineage and came for the training. That he tried to stay away from her but the bond was too strong and he could not and he had to mark her. my heart was broken. Shortly after they did their mating ceremony and I haven't been seeing much of them. I was so heartbroken that I used getting a degree as an excuse to get out of the pack and when I got back two years after, I found out that Naomi is pregnant and she is staying in her maternal home because of how complicated her pregnancy is. I hoped multiple times that I would have been his mate, I even started to pray that I will replace my own mate too but I am not that lucky.

Since I got back, he is rarely in the pack and he is always travelling to see his wife. I could have sworn, I have gotten over him but turns out my luck is not like that because one night a party was thrown in the pack and we drank to the point that we became drunk and that night, he called me his mate. we spent the night together and I was so happy thinking that finally everything is working out for me. The worst part was that I felt the mate bond with him," she cried.
