Rejected And Forsaken -
Chapter 20
Carol pov
Spending time with David was fun and exciting. Training sessions was super interesting while Mrs. Cosmo’s classes were somewhat the same – monotonous. But still, I now had someone to spend the time with during those long hours. At least I no longer was alone in her class.
David had surprised me in more than one way. He was smart and strong. I loved to watch him punch the punching bag. I love how his muscles flex with his movements. His punches were mean and hard. There were times my trainer had to call my name to get my attention because I was getting distracted by David. And each time when he removes his shirt, I have to stop myself from gawking at his well toned body. He was one fine human. Whoever hurt him and wronged him is in huge trouble when he goes back for revenge.
“Princess! You are zoning out again.” My trainer’s voice caught my attention again. I looked at him to replace him smirking at me.
“Princess, seeing something you like?” he asked, taking me by surprise.
“Huh?” I gasped. He chuckled and shook his head.
“Just focus on your opponent princess. I could have beat you up. You know you can do better than that.” He replied. “Look at those two.”
I looked towards my younger cousins who were in a wrestling duel. They were pouring all their fury in their fight. They kind of looked cute when their faces were contorted. Both of them were struggling to pin the other down. I couldn’t help myself but chuckle at them.
“I think they will do great when they grow up.” He said. I nodded. “Now let’s do some working out, shall we princess. 100 push ups.” He stated.
“What? 100?” I gasped. He raised his eyebrows at me. “What? It’s just a 100.” He stated. But I was not in the mood for that tonight.
“But……”
“Yeah. Let’s do it.” David’s voice came from behind me.
“Huh?”
“100 push ups. Ill do it with you.” He shrugged. I looked at my trainer who smirked and nodded.
“Wow. You can do a 100?” I was amazed. How can a human be so fit? But I didn’t say anything and started to do push ups with him. He was good. He kept up with me. I couldn’t help but sneak glances at his flexing muscles. Damn this human. By the time 100 was over my arms were sore and in pain. But none of that really mattered.
“Nice work princess. Hope to see you and the others tomorrow.” My trainer smiled and nodded at David. He punched playfully on his shoulder before he left.
“Nice work man. And you’ve got a nice body. I’m sure you will break some hearts. Perhaps some vampires chicks will also fall for you.” He winked at him and left. I looked at David. He didn’t seem to notice me looking at him or me gaping at him during our training session. He sure was a handsome guy. With mesmerising baby blue eyes and a dashing smile, he sure could kill some hearts. He ran his finger through his thick dark hair and flashed his signature smirk at me. I just couldn’t keep my eyes off his biceps as it flexed and relaxed. How would it feel to trace those muscles?
Carol. Shut up. You cannot do that. I scolded myself.
“Hey, Carol?” his voice brought me back to the reality. “Are you ok?” he asked.
I blinked. Was I ok? Yeah I think so. He smirked once again, making my heart skip a beat.
“See you in class.” He said and left. I stared at his retreating back, stupefied. What was happening to me? I was not supposed to feel anything towards anyone. Perhaps this was just a phase. Yes. That could be the only explanation.
I hastened to freshen up so that I could make it to Mrs. Cosmo’s class on time. I certainly don’t want to bear the consequences of being late.
The rest of the night was somewhat the same. My mind kept drifting to David. His dashing smile, the dimple on his cheek, his wit and the most attractive aspect was his courage and kindness. Despite being broken and hurt by the ones who should have had his back on the day he needed them the most didn’t make him loose himself. It didn’t break him. He remained kind and considerate. He didn’t back down and he was more than ready to get revenge from them. He was ready to replace out who poisoned his grandma and he was going to make them pay.
To me, that was remarkable. He sure was a special person. Only very strong people could do that. Mrs. Cosmo’s class ended and I was walking down the corridor with David.
“Is something wrong? You have been silent the whole day.” He asked.
I let out a humourless laugh. What was I going to tell him? I cannot tell what I felt? I couldn’t let him know that I was secretly ogling him. I gulped.
“Nothing.” I answered. But he stopped right in front of me and looked deeply in to my eyes with a frown on his face.
“I……”
“Hey you two!” Evan cut him short. I breathed in relief and turned towards Evan who was jogging towards us. He was grinning from ear to ear. I never thought I’d be so relieved to see him but right now, I am delighted to see his annoying face.
“Ready for tomorrow night?” he asked. Oh yes. I had forgotten. It was his eighteenth birthday tomorrow and hopefully, he will be replaceing his beloved.
“Why do we have to be ready?” I asked.
“Because, I want you to be well dressed. I want to introduce you guys to her first thing. So be ready. You too David.” He answered.
I smirked. “I thought you would be too busy with her to introduce to us.”
“Of course. That too.” He grinned. “Be fully prepared.” He wiggled his eyebrows meaningfully. I face palmed. I really shouldn’t have gone there.
“Ugh. Why do I have to put up with you?” I grunted.
He laughed. “Because you love me and you don’t know what to do without me.” He said and smirked. “Be ready. David I have just the perfect shirt for you. Come on.” He said and started to pull him away from me.
“Hey! Who said you could steal him from me?” I yelled, suddenly feeling left out.
“I’ll return him safe and sound. Besides you better stay away from him when he changes his shirt. You will just drool and gawk at his body.” He responded making my face heat up. David gave me a quick glance, he was clearly surprised.
“I won’t.” I retorted, trying to hide my face, which most probably was bright red.
“Oh yes you will. Your trainer told me. Do you think my best friend would keep things from me?” he said and smirked, making me g***n. Why oh why did daddy put his best friend as my trainer. David was grinning at me amused by this whole conversation. I glared at Evan, who’s smirk grew wider. Oh I hate him. But he was right. He will be there for me when I need him. He has proved it more than once. He was there to console me when my daddy lost to his vampire, even when his father was badly beaten up. He ran back and forth from the castle to the hospital, making sure that both of us were fine. He was a gem that I honestly don’t want to loose. But seriously, he was being such an arse.
“Fine!” I pouted and stomped all the way to my room.
I was so wrong to feel relieved to see Evan. Oh good lord. He was such a pain in my neck. I slammed the door to my room shut and slumped on my bed. I covered my face with my pillow and screamed in to it. Evan was such an a*s.
I rested my head on my pillow and sighed. But what he said was not wrong. I most probably would eye rape him the whole time. I don’t understand this. Why am I feeling like this? I placed the pillow on my bed and walked slowly towards the window. I gazed at the starry night sky and smiled. I want to wait for my beloved. I want to stay pure for him. And being the princess of this kingdom, I have to be the perfect example to the rest of the citizens. I gulped as I felt my throat tighten. Why does it have to be so hard? All what I wanted to do was help him and to have a true friend. Why does my feelings have to get in the way? I felt a lone tear roll down my cheek. I just hope my feelings don’t betray me.
I strolled back to my bed. My emotions were going haywire. I was feeling so confused. Why did this happen and just a few months were left for me to turn eighteen. I don’t want to ruin it. I didn’t want to ruin my friendship with David and I didn’t want to ruin the day I replace my beloved. But I wonder if I could succeed in keeping my feelings concealed.
I lay down on the bed and closed my eyes. Perhaps some sleep would help.
