Rejected And Forsaken -
Chapter 43
Narrator
David stormed all the way back to the palace. The news he had just heard was just too much for him. He couldn’t believe that the one who he thought he could trust had actually stabbed him in the back.
“David! Wait up!” king Richard gasped as he ran after David.
Taking deep breaths, David tried to calm himself down. He had to keep himself under control. He couldn’t loose it just because he found out the truth which was hidden from him the whole time. He turned around slowly and faced the mighty king.
“Your beta?” he asked.
“Yes. Your highness. My best friend’s father was my beta the whole time until Cade turned eighteen. He was my father’s beta too. I thought he was true and loyal to the pack the entire time. I had trusted him blindly. I had granted him full access to everything. Even to my personal quarters. I…. I “ he trailed off suddenly replaceing it too hard to talk.
He was shocked beyond words. If Cade’s father had the guts to poison his grandma today, who knew what he did behind his dad’s back during his days of being alpha.
“Maybe….. Maybe he also has a hand in stealing the opal? I mean… if my dad didn’t know about it, then the next person would be his beta. Then the elders. They could have done it together. My dad may have despised the elders because they mistreated me. But his beta?” David shook his head.
“Dad trusted him with his eyes closed.” He whispered.
“Then only one thing is left for us to do. We are certain that the opal is with them. Even the seer has warned us to hurry up. Though it’s powers are locked, they might use dark magic to unlock it. If they succeed…..” the king sighed.
“I….I don’t know what would happen. Those people doesn’t sound like they are trust worthy.” He muttered.
“Then…. It is time for us to attack.” David replied suddenly, his baby blue eyes flashed between red and blue. His lycan was trying to take control. Finn too was furious. How dare they betray the true leadership of the prestigious pack. How dare they get involved in theft. They deserved to be punished with the ultimate punishment. Death.
“Oh I agree with you on that.” King Richard agreed. His jaw muscles clenched and unclenched as he gritted his teeth.
Finally, he was going to get what he wanted. The first time he failed. But he was wrong to attack an innocent alpha. It was those who worked under him who betrayed him. They stabbed him in the back. They were the worst kind of beings that king Richard despised the most.
“So let’s gather our troops. We must make the last preparations.” He uttered.
David nodded and marched towards the training ground, where all the warriors and knights were continuing their training sessions.

Meanwhile elder Barron secretly met his companion who was silently practicing dark magic in the pack. He was the one who helped his steal the opal. No one knew this associate of Barron had those powers. He had been practicing it in silence for several years when Barron finally day him do it. He had stumbled across him years ago, when he was practicing his spells discretely, in the thick woods at the dead of night. Everyone thought he was a wolf. But the reality was far from that.
He was not just a wolf. He was a wizard, a dark wizard with wolf traits. His mother was indeed a werewolf, but his father was unknown. Rumours were that she was abducted by the wizards and by the time she was finally saved, she was already pregnant.
She got so depressed by it that she finally killed herself after giving birth to him. Leaving him in the care of the beta couple who were childless. Later on, they adopted him and life went on pretty well. No one suspected anything. Specially when he shifted at 14 years, just like any normal werewolf. He never showed any signs of a foreign power or a different aura. He was just a normal pup.
However, he had heard from several members of the pack how his real mother got pregnant with him. He had tried to ignore those stories at first, but then on the day he turned eighteen, he felt a strange sensation. As the clock struck midnight, he felt a strange urge to run outside. Out of the pack house and in to the deep thickness of the woods. He shifted back to the human form and stared at the open star studded sky. His conscience was telling him to wait for it to come….but what? He had no idea.
Suddenly, he felt it. A dark and strong surge of power with in him started to rise. He let that take over his body and as he stared at the sky. Darkness was everywhere. That was all he could feel. Slowly, he felt the darkness engulf him. And he let it happen. Soon he was completely taken in to the darkness. A deep and raspy voice spoke to him.
“Today you have reached the full maturity of a wizard. You have powers you are unaware of. But with practice it will be at your service. You will be the master and it will be your slave.”
The next day, he woke up on the forest floor. What happened? He thought. Slowly, the memories of the night before flooded back to him. He still could remember how he was engulfed by darkness and a deep voice spoke to him.
Dark wizard? He thought. Do those stories were true. He thought. He tried to do some magic. With a flick of his fingers, he was able to kill a little bunny. He chuckled. Yes. He has powers. He will practice it. No one has to know. The. He will be the master of it, just like the voice had said.
That day, he was chosen as the beta of the pack as his adoptive father had stepped back from his position. He was declared as alpha Devin’s beta. He knew he would have to do his best so that no one would suspect him. Everyone thought he was a normal werewolf but the truth was, he had managed to mask his true identity from the whole pack.
And it stayed that way until the fateful day elder Barron spotted him leave the pack house in an odd hour. That night Barron had followed him and spied on hi. That night, elder Barron had threatened to expose him if he didn’t help Barron. That day they made and unbreakable pact. Elder Barron swore to protect him and keep the secret safe if this wizard helped him to get what he wanted. The opal which he had been trying to get his hands on for decades.
He had thought that becoming an elder would grant him access to these things but boy was he wrong. The opal was heavily guarded by the vampires and the only way he could get through was with the help of dark magic. The day he saw the beta practice it in the woods was the day he thought luck had finally struck him.
“Hello elder Barron. What brings you here?” he asked, as soon as he saw him.
“Shut up Gerald. Your son is hurting my child. I thought the alliance would only strengthen our bond. Who knew Cade will replace his mate and suddenly want to be with her.” Barron retorted.
Gerald chuckled. “I am sorry. I also didn’t expect that.” He replied.
“Can’t you cast a spell or something?” Barron suggested.
“Practice dark magic on my only son? Never?” he replied.
“Fine.” Barron sat down on the seat in front of him. The high beta’s room was well furnished and beautifully decorated. It was a place where they could relax and have a conversation.
“But now I need you to do it.” Barron muttered.
Raising his eyebrows, Gerald questioned.
“What?”
“unlock the powers of the opal.” he replied.
“But first, I want to see the news of the vampires. It has been quiet some time they haven’t attacked us. I want to know what is going on.” Barron added.
“Ok. Fair enough. He said and sat down on the centre of the room as if he was meditating. He placed either of his hands on his knees and closed his eyes and started to murmur incoherent words. He stayed like that for what felt like an eternity for Barron.
Suddenly Gerald’s deep brown eyes flung open. His eyes were wide and his face was filled with shock.
“David! He is with them. And they are preparing for war.” Gerald exclaimed, his voice hoarse and surprised.
“What!” Barron jumped from his seat, toppling it over. Things were way worse than he thought it was!
